Which Groove Wins? (Jehovah You Are The Most High vs We Give You All The Glory)
Added:Hey guys, welcome back to your bass lessons. Today's lesson we'll be doing something different. In today's video lesson we'll be using two popular songs battling against each other.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> I'm also going to try and teach you all this passing notes and fills, riffs, and licks I also played in the song. I don't want you to miss this. What I showed you was just half of it. I'll be teaching you more stuff you can apply in the first song and the second song. I also do private class lessons. If you're interested, you see the link in the comment section below. Click on the link to take you direct to my WhatsApp. Grab your bass and let me teach you every tools you can play to these two song chord progressions.
So our first song we'll be looking on is "Jehovah".
So instead of you playing the root, we are going to look into these two things in that song. That is the reharmonizations which I've already taught you that, and passing notes to those chords progression. Okay? So, the normal chord progression for the first song, that is Jehovah, sounds like this.
And I'll show you different chord progression you can apply to that same song.
>> [music] [music] >> So, starting from Jehovah, Jehovah father, that is your four, then one, Jehovah five.
So, you have four, one, five, then you come back to the one.
So, this is the normal progression or the easiest way to play the Jehovah.
Okay? So, now let's see if we can spice it up this same song and, you know, change up the chord progression.
>> [music] [music] >> Again, >> [music] >> So, what I was playing was the same song, but I changed the chord progression. So, which is So, that is I started from >> [music] >> three, four, five.
So, write this chord progression to that same song, Jehovah, two, three, four, five.
So, this is the second progression we can get from this same Jehovah. So, now let me give you the third progression you can also play to this same chord progression.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> So, this is me playing the two then I went to the six five.
>> [music] >> So, the second Jehovah, you can play five then one. Now, I've given you three chord progression to that Jehovah eh.
So, this we are changing the chord progression, you know, just to make it suit the song. So, now let's look at the fourth chord progression I can give to you to the same song.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> So, this is the progression starting from Jehovah seven flat. So, instead you start from the normal two or the four or whatever, now you'll be starting from the seven flat, seven flat then six flat [music] then five. So, your E string, if you're using the four string, you can use the E string to give you the five since you are playing key A.
Jehovah eh.
>> [music] >> Then to the five.
Then you can be on the five. Jehovah.
>> [music] >> Then you can still be on the five. So instead of you going to the five, you can also do the seven one.
Just to play normal. But the main thing is the seven flat, six flat, and the five.
That is it. So instead of you playing the root notes to the song chord progression like to any of the one you choose, you can try to you know spice it up that chord progression. You get it?
Like by playing passing notes to the chord progression just to spice it up.
So now passing notes we can apply from the four to the one.
Then from the one to the five. Okay? So now let me play it and you know teach you how you can do it. It's very simple.
>> [music] [music and singing] [music] [music] >> So it's very simple. I think this is the easiest one. So four.
Then from the four to the one you just descend. So four.
>> [music] >> Then octave four. Four, three, two, one. Octave one. Then you come back to the root one.
Because you're supposed to play heavy notes.
Then what you did on the four, you did it on the one progression to the five.
>> [music] >> Then one. Octave one. Seven, six, five.
Just like that.
Then one.
>> [music] >> Okay? So if you're totally beginner, you can just learn this.
Na na na na na. You can even do so la ti do do re mi fa do do ti la so.
So la ti do just like that. Okay. So, now to the second progression where we played two three four five.
>> [music] >> I'll be giving you passing notes you can, you know, apply to that chord progression. So, if you're on the two going to the three chord progression, you can apply this simple passing note.
>> [music] >> So, what I played there was going to the three. So, you can just play one two three.
Okay. So, that is from two to the three chord progression just to make it simple. Two three then four then five.
Okay. So, now to the four and five chord progression so that we'll join the whole thing and you will make it sound nicer.
Okay.
>> [music] >> To the three.
>> [music] >> From the three.
Then from the four to the five.
>> [music] >> Four five six five. So, you can learn that.
>> [music] >> So, you join both of them together.
So, lastly from the five to the one chord progression, learn this.
>> [music] >> So, what I played there was >> [music] >> Okay.
That is two three five. 31.
>> [music] >> So, when you play all of it together, 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 5.
So, you'll be on the 5 for a very long time. Just be plucking on the 5.
Then 5 5 5 then 5 then to the [music] 1.
So, another way you can also groove to this 2 3 4 5, you can do it this way.
Okay.
>> [music] [music] >> So, you'll be doing that to the root and the octave. So, when you're on the 1 going to the 2, you slide to the 5. You're going to the 2.
Slide to the 5.
Then, you pluck on the 1, hammer on the 2, then pluck on the 2.
The same way you do to the 3 chord progression. So, 5 1 2 [music] 2.
Then you slide to the 6.
2 3 3.
Then 3 4 [music] 4.
Then 4 5 5. That is it.
Okay.
>> [music] >> So, you learn that to the song chord progression, too. So, now let's jump to the third chord progression where I'll be giving you chromatic note to the chord progression. So, from the 2 to the 6.
Remember from the 5 to the 3 chord progression.
So, let's see.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Okay, so now let me teach you that.
So from the two you we're going to the six chord progression. So you can use a chromatic scale for that. That will take you to the six chord progression. So two >> [music] >> then one to the six, one seven [music] seven flat six.
You continue then to the five.
What you did on the six, you do from the five to the three.
>> [music] >> Okay.
So you can learn that. So when you're going to the three chord progression or you're going to the six >> [music] >> Okay, so to what I did here was the same thing I did to every three. So >> [music] >> it's just the same. So you can also learn that. So far >> [music] >> So now to the last chord progression on the Jehovah eh, that is the seven flat six flat and the five. So now let's see the passing notes. So now let's go to the seven flat. In case you are to start one how to, you [music] know do a transition to the seven flat. So now let me give you a passing note. You can apply them.
So it's very simple. This is like you're playing a passing note to the four. La ti do me fa that is 6 7 1 3 4. So just same thing you just do 2 3 [music] 4 6.
7 flat or 6 sharp.
>> [music] >> Then you continue 6 flat then 5.
So if you're going to a 7 flat, 2 3 4.
>> [music] >> Or you can also do 1 2 3 6 7 flat.
But normally I do um 2 3 4.
>> [music] >> Okay.
Then to the 7 flat. So now let's look at the last one that is the passing note from the 7 flat to the 6 flat and taking to the 5, okay?
>> [music] [music] >> I'll do it again.
>> [music] [music] >> So when you're on the 7 flat, when you don't play >> [music] >> Then when you are grooving on that 6 then going to the 5 sharp or the 6 flat then you do that is your 2 >> [music] >> 7 flat.
Then you come to the 6 flat.
Then you play your 1. So your 1 is the A string.
>> [music] >> A string then you play your 5. So the reason why I play it here is you know not to make the sound buzzy. But you can also do it this way.
>> [music] >> Okay. But the easiest way is >> [music] >> because you have if if a one here, so you can just slide to the one.
Then play the six flat here.
Then play the five, then you continue the groove.
What you can do >> [music] >> is just the same. That is the whole thing. So when you're on the five and you want to do something, you want to spice it up.
>> [music] >> Since you have the five here.
So you slide to the five. One, two, [music] five.
Then one.
So when you play it >> [music] >> seven, one. So this is for the first song chord progression. I believe you liked it. So now we'll be going to the we give you all the glory and I'll be teaching you that is not passing notes, not reharmonization, but now we'll be going deeply into riffs, bass, um, licks, and runs to this song chord progression. So now let's go to the second song and see.
>> [music] >> So that is the first way to play the we give you all. You start it from the three.
Then four sharp.
Then five sharp.
Then six. You can play your six here.
Okay. So when you're on three, so the we you start from the three. We give you all.
Then whatever you play there on the six, you can play it. So now let's look at the second progression we can apply to the we give you all. Okay.
>> [music] >> So the second way is seven.
Three, six. [music] So remember the first one, three, four sharp, five, six. The second, seven, three, six. And now the last way we can play that area is >> [music] [music] >> So this will be somehow new to some of you. The we give you all like this. One, two, three, then four sharp.
Then seven, then three.
Then four, then two the one. Or you can do three, or you can play one.
So four sharp, seven, three, four, then one.
Okay. So now let me play them fully so that you can listen. So now to the first chord progression.
>> [music] >> Five, >> [music] >> four, one.
Just like that. Now to the second [music] one.
>> [music] [music] >> Now to the last one.
>> [music] [music] >> So that was me applying the three chord progression to that we give you all portion, okay? So now let's see what we can apply to that chord progression.
Okay, so now to the six chord progression, let me give you this lick you can apply to this six. So when you don't play in we give you then to that six, instead of you to play six throughout, you can apply this lick to the 6. So, it goes like this.
>> [music] [music] >> So, let me teach you that.
So, when you don't play in the that chord progression, 3 4 sharp then then you come to the 6 here.
Okay, it's like you're playing 6 6 3 3 7.
So, look at the first one.
6 6 3 3 7 then you play 2 2 sharp 2. So, you're using a technique here.
Then 1 6 then you descend back to the 6.
3 1 6 So, since you're playing a five string when you slide on the B string, it gives you a tune.
But, if you don't to play, you can just play 4 then 1. But, if you're playing a five string, after you done playing the 6 2 then 4 then 1.
So, that is the lick.
>> [music] >> Okay. Just master this the fretboard.
So, now to the 7 3 6 chord progression, on that 6 I'll be giving you a runs you can apply to that 6 chord progression.
So, listen to it.
>> [music] [music] >> We That's the 7 3 then to the 6. You slide to the 6.
So, let me see all the notes. 6 7 1 3 6 7 1 That's the first one in you should master.
>> [music] >> Now, you descend.
>> [music] >> 7 6 5 >> [music] >> 6 7 1 3 6 7 [music] 1 7 6 5 Then, 3 2 1 Then, 6 5 3 6. Okay.
>> [music] [music] >> That's the six.
So, you can apply the technique to spicy up the notes.
>> [music] >> Okay.
>> [music] >> Then So, now lastly, I'll be giving you a simple riff to the six chord progression. This riff is my favorite riffs I normally use at church, especially on this song which I just say, let me just um teach you guys. You can also learn it, okay? So, now to the six the same seven three >> [music] >> When you're playing on the six, that's what you do. We give you So, you slide to the one here.
With your pinky.
Okay.
So, that is why you need to learn more techniques on applying the note.
Okay.
So, that is 1 7 [music] 6. That is your note.
Then you slide firstly to the three. So, when you're on the six >> [music] >> three then you play three four five then seven six. Okay.
>> [music] >> Then you come to the lower note six.
Then you can apply five four then one.
That is it.
>> [music] >> Then four then one. Okay. So, I believe with this we give you all the glory. You have learned new chord progression to this song especially with the four sharp seven three then four and three. And to the rest of it and you have also learned fills, riffs, and licks you can apply to the six. Okay. These tools you used are not boring. Try to use them out there even in a band song. Try to use them.
Okay. So, I'll be seeing you guys in the next live lesson. Bye for now.
