[00:00:24]The reason why hood, prom and hood baby showers and all of these hood things exist is because the black community do not put enough emphasis on having a father in the home.

[00:00:34]the sport where black players have constantly dealt with racism, harassment and isolation to some extent.

[00:00:47]now these same people are mad that black players have created a safe space for themselves.

[00:00:52]reason white people don't see it when an event is all white is because white people see whiteness as a default.

[00:01:31]A bunch of young, black, successful people at the top of their professional championship tennis getting together and having a good time.

[00:01:42]That's fellowship, that's supporting one another.

[00:01:44]There is absolutely nothing wrong with But of course, anytime that there's anything that black people are celebrating, it's a problem for these folks.

[00:01:53]Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka held a dinner party exclusively for black tennis players before the French Open.

[00:02:02]She's a black woman who has black friends who hosted a dinner party for her friends.

[00:02:06]I host a party for my people, it's usually going to be all black.

[00:02:14]I guarantee they've had dinner parties, parties, happy hours.

[00:03:31]Growing up as a tennis player, I didn't see many people that look like me I feel like that's important to celebrate not only that, the criticism that black players usually facing, the things that they have to contend against, is a completely unique experience to black tennis players.

[00:03:44]For instance, people didn't like how aggressive Serena was how loud Venus and Serena were when they Meanwhile, white players would never get that criticism.

[00:05:22]No to soccer for just creating a safe space for other black tennis to the people that ask this question, I want to ask you this question too.

[00:05:29]What is it about people of color getting together that unsettles you so They hate black joy?

[00:05:35]black people being happy, successful, doing their own thing, ruffles their feathers, gets under their skin, bothers their sleep at night.

[00:05:43]They just cannot handle The heat, black joy, because they don't understand it.

[00:05:47]They hate black joy because they can't police it.

[00:05:49]Black joy doesn't make sense to them because they are sitting around here miserable, and they don't understand how black people are still able to have a good old time.

[00:06:02]the obsession is if a bunch of black people get together, what are they thinking about? What are they talking about?

[00:07:08]It's about how growing up and not seeing people like her, except for like maybe Serena and Venus when she was coming up, it was just about coming together.

[00:07:15]And she said in there that like, there's a saying that black people say, when I when you win, I win.

[00:07:20]And I guess that was the whole reason for this, and it just made my heart so you want us to believe that more than 60% of white people who make up professional tennis players had a black or brown person at every dinner party?

[00:09:38]My experience, the majority of white people in this country are completely unaware of their own privilege and or are actively in denial of such privilege exists.

[00:09:47]The nature of privilege in America is that it is invisible.

[00:09:51]I would no more expect the average white person to see their privilege, than I would expect a fish in a fishbowl to see the water in which they exist.

[00:09:58]Yet that water in that fishbowl surrounds that fish every single second of every single day, and affects every single thing that fish does every second of every day.

[00:10:08]One of the most difficult things to do is to explain to a poor white person the nature of white privilege.

[00:10:14]Because when you tell a poor white person that they have white privilege, you will inevitably be met with resupply as a white.

[00:10:20]Ain't nobody gave me nothing, and in a sense, their rights.

[00:10:24]Nobody gave you nothing.

[00:10:25]Privilege isn't about gifts.

[00:10:28]That's not what privilege is in America.

[00:10:30]America was built on a foundation of systemic and institutionalized white supremacy, which grants the benefit of said white supremacy to every single white and white presenting person in America, invisible as it may be.

[00:10:42]So nobody gave you nothing.

[00:10:44]But it isn't about what you were given.

[00:10:46]It's about what you weren't given.

[00:10:47]You weren't given restrictions. No, you're fucking insufferable.

[00:10:50]You're mad because she created space for people who face similar barriers to enjoy each other's company celebrate what they've accomplished.

[00:10:57]You don't want black people in your spaces, you also don't want them to have their own.

[00:11:01]That call out was on At the end of the day, I think we've all accepted the fact that no matter what we do, no matter what we accomplish, no matter how we operate, these people will find a reason to be mad at us, to criticize us, and to hate on whether we're celebrating proms, graduating, becoming doctors, celebrating our accomplishments with our It's just black obsession and a real deep seated hatred toward black joy.
