[00:00:02]More than a dozen far-right night time vigilante patrols around Scotland, which claim to be protecting women and girls, have included incidents of patrol members, one apparently drunk, shouting racist, neo-Nazi, and homophobic abuse at people, and in at least one case making a sexualized remark to a lone woman. Other incidents included one patrol member shouting abuse at the police and urinating in the street whilst apparently drunk.

[00:00:26]The incidents from across Scotland, including Peterhead, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Falkirk, Ayrshire, Dunbartonshire, and South Lanarkshire have been revealed following an investigation by independent journalist cooperative The Ferret. People of color are regularly being targeted with abuse and threats of violence.

[00:00:44]Police Scotland said that it does not [clears throat] endorse, condone, or encourage these patrols.

[00:00:50]Ideologically, vigilante patrols reinforce claims around disorder and bolster demands for a more authoritarian state, which are fundamental to the far-right, said an Aberdeen University academic and expert on far-right politics.
