[00:01:40]My we are up day eight of the impeachment trial and it is expected that the Senate impeachment court will go back to the discussion on the grave threats and inciting sedition allegations against vice president Sarah Duterte. The expected witness today is uh NBI director Melvin Matibag and he's the last to testify on the article 4 of the impeachment complaint. Yesterday my the court approved the uh subpoena requests of the house prosecution panel on the financial records of the vice president house prosecutor judges ruling presiding officer cheese escro and with us this afternoon is house prosecutor and representative Chelas.

[00:02:39]Ayan. So, Kong, uh, first of all, how are you following yesterday's discussions ruling impeachment court? Would you say this is a huge win for the prosecution?

[00:02:51]>> Well, it's a big step forward, >> but um, there's still a lot that has to be done, especially for the unexplained wealth article.

[00:03:10]court and that's when the [clears throat] court will decide admissible.

[00:03:14]Okay. So what's next after this stepution request July 30 documents that were subject of the subpoena and thereafter we will have to examine each document and then decide how we will make use of its trial.

[00:03:44]information concerned agencies but I expect that very soon maybe within the day I believe impeachment court spokes attorney Reggie Tongal this means on or before July 30 commissioner does this authorization.

[00:04:17]>> Well, under the National Internal Revenue Code, income tax returns or other records.

[00:04:28]So that that is something that Chief Justice consent from the president.

[00:09:51]Attorney live from the Senate. [music] Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Charito Mendula could face [music] contempt if he fails to comply with the Senate Impeachment Court subpoena [music] for Vice President Sarah Duterta's tax records. On BNC's on point, House prosecutor Laya Dimma said Mendoza is duty bound to obey but should first [music] secure the president's authorization to protect himself from possible [music] liability. The lawmaker also described the court's order as a watershed and [music] pivotal moment for the prosecution, saying the tax records are crucial to their case involving allegations of unexplained wealth against the vice president.

[00:10:41]>> One thing is certain, the BI commissioner must do it, must comply with the subpoena, otherwise he will be held in contempt. So to be safe and also [clears throat] to shield himself from any possible uh liability he has to get uh the authority or consent of the president and I don't see any reason for the president not to give such a consent. So you know it's a it's it's a question of whether he is willing to comply with the subpoena under pain of contempt. If he does not do so, then he will be held in contempt and suffer the consequences thereof.

[00:11:24][music] DP Sara Duterte's defense team is now studying legal remedies after the impeachment [music] court allowed the subpoena of her financial documents.

[00:11:48]My the impeachment trial of Vice President Sarah Duterte has entered another critical phase after the Senate impeachment court granted the prosecution's request to subpoena the financial records that it says relevant to the case. The court's order covers bank documents, tax records, and other financial informations that the prosecution argues are necessary to support its articles of impeachment.

[00:12:14]However, the defense continued to maintain that the subpoena raises serious constitutional privacy and due process issues. My according to the camp of Vice President Sarah Duterte, the anti-money laundering act does not provide an exemption for the impeachment proceedings and they believe the court's order may have exceeded the limits of the law. The defense also says that it is now carefully studying all available legal remedies to protect the vice president's constitutional rights while continuing to participate in the impeachment proceedings. With the subpoena now approved, the attention shifts to the next phase of the trial as both sides prepare for another legal shadow over the admin and use of the financial records. My >> live from the Senate, attorney Michael Po, a spokesperson [music] of the defense team of VP Sara Duterte, maintains that the prosecution's request [music] to subpoena her financial records did not meet legal requirements.

[00:13:17][music] In an interview with Memo, POA says anti-moneyaundering council records [music] are protected by absolute confidentiality under section 8A of the anti-moneyaundering act.

[00:13:35]For example, section 8A says absolutely cannot be revealed reports from the banks which includes covered transaction reports, suspicious transaction reports, etc. uh in any manner cannot be revealed in any manner.

[00:13:55]On Monday, impeachment court [music] proceeding officer Francis Escodero ruled to grant the prosecution's request to subpoena the records. POA says the [music] defense has yet to decide whether to pursue any legal remedies.

Today is also the retirement ceremony of the retired general. Naparet was the 57th commander of the Philippine Army who was assigned to the post July of last year. [00:24:09]My heavy traffic is the result of flow and phase construction of the road and drainage project of DPW in a cavit.

[00:24:17]According to DPWS6 Vince Diesson, the delay is due to the lack of coordination from Manilad. Dies said that when their construction work accidentally hits a Manilad pipeline, it takes a several days before Manilad response causing further delays to the project. However, a Manila representative said that they are now in coordination with the agency and they are fixing the leaks. As of now, the project is only 6% complete while target completion date is December and since constru construction started last May, only about 3% of the work has been completed each month. That is why secretary Diesson said they will implement 24-hour construction operations to ensure the project isn't is finished on time. My Diesson also inspected the unfinished noblex project which has also been delayed due to right-of-way issues and funding concerns according to Dson and the project should be completed so that the public can finally benefit from it. Back to you Madigan 350,000 DPW leak investigation >> [music] >> The Bureau of Customs has seized more than 23 million pesos worth of misdeclared [music] frozen agricultural products and food items from China at the port of Manila. Andrea Salv joins us from there. Andrea, [music] what are these products that were confiscated?

[00:26:42]My the [music] Bureau of Customs has seized five containers of misdeclared frozen agricultural products and food stuff from China with an estimated value of 23.27 million pesos, including duties and taxes. Customs authorities said the shipments were initially declared as various frozen food products, including squid balls, fish tofu, fish row balls, and chya tofu. However, a full physical inspection revealed the containers actually held misdeclared frozen items such as peeled chicken, frozen pigeon, pecking duck, frozen duck meat, and other frozen food products. The shipments were flagged through customs intelligence risk assessment and profiling before they were subjected to inspection. The port of Manila has issued warrants of seizure and detention against the five shipments for alleged violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and the Food Safety Act.

[00:27:32]Authorities are also investigating possible violations of the anti-agultural economic sabotage act as the total value of the shipments exceeds the 10 million peso threshold for largecale agricultural smuggling. Back to you my what's next for these seized food products.

It is here that her family broadcast search coordinates, staging locations, and required gear for the following day. A massive civilian-led search and rescue operation is currently underway in San Diego County for the 44year-old emergency room nurse and mother of two who has now been missing for nearly 2 weeks.

[00:36:37]>> The family is holding up pretty well given the circumstances. You know, our family has traveled from different parts of North America to be with my sister's family, with her husband and the children, and we're here. We're all here supporting each other as much as we can.

[00:36:55]>> The sweeping logistical effort was built entirely from the ground up by Angelica's family and co-workers after her vehicle was found abandoned in a Palomore Mountain parking lot on July 9th. According to the Oceanside Police Department, Angelica was last seen on surveillance footage at Harris Resort in Valley Center around 3:30 p.m. on July 6th, shortly before she entered the state park alone. The overwhelming love for her was palpable at a recent prayer vigil hosted by her fellow nurses, a tight-knit community that has not stopped participating in the daily grid searches. One feeling I really got out of that vigil was uh was the love that my sister had around her in in the work in her work. Um and it kind of just uh represents her character really and how what kind of person she was and uh that really um hit us hit us hard. That's what's fueling her strength and pushing forward and getting her home. According to Oceanside's chief of police, there are no indicators that there might be foul play based on the investigation.

First installed in 2015, Link NYC kiosk provided New Yorkers free high-speed Wi-Fi, NYC maps, public notices, free device charging stations, and access to emergency services. The woman behind this information kiosk was Filipino American Minurva Tantoko, who was then NYC's first ever chief technology officer. She was at the helm of the installation of this digital public infrastructure that started in 2015 and was later unveiled to the public in 2016.

After helping lead Hinebra's comeback from a 17-point deficit, Griggsby said the crowd never stopped believing and neither did the team.

[00:44:59]I mean, I kne I knew some people that played for, you know, in the past and they said what kind of organization this was and how the fans are. The former NBA GLeague standout put together an impressive first outing, scoring 42 points to go along with 13 rebounds, two steals, and the block accounting for more than half of Hinebra's total offense. But more than the numbers, it was the atmosphere inside Aroneta Coliseum that left the biggest impression.

[00:45:24]>> I love it already. I love I love the fans. I mean, even when we were down, they cheering loud and you could feel feel the energy from the fans. Griggsby also said he has quickly adjusted to the PBA acknowledging the different style of play while praising the league's level of competition.

[00:45:40]>> Obviously different rules. Uh NBA is more space on the court, but I mean still basketball at the end of the day out here they it's competitive. It's got imports that are really good. Although his first game ended in defeat, Kriggsby believes he has found the perfect place to compete as he looks to helpra return to its winning ways in the governor's car.

[00:47:50]Friends, families, and supporters of Miss Universe 2022, Arbony Gabriel gathered at the Manila International Film Festival headquarters to watch episode 2 of Project Runway season 22 on Thursday night. The fashion design based reality competition is a dream come true for the Texas raised Filipino American beauty queen and fashion designer. I took this as an opportunity to be in media in a different light instead of Miss Universe. That chapter is closed.

[00:48:15]It will always be a part of me, but that chapter is closed. And design was always my one true passion. So getting into Project Runway was really just going back to that little girl's dream that I always had.

[00:48:29]>> After a tough episode one, the Filipino American designer who showcased a denim ensemble emphasizing sustainable fashion was eliminated early in episode 2.

[00:48:38]only had one opportunity to showcase the design, but the design that I did bring, I love it so much. And it also represents my sustainability. It's made from recycled denim. So, I was able to show as much as they allowed me, and I'm really happy about that.

[00:48:55]>> Philippine musician Kiana Valenciano and American reality star Amanda Smith of Selling Sunset were among the crowd that gave words of encouragement to Gabriel.

[00:49:18]>> There's so much happening here. I feel so motivated and I am planting myself in this city. I'm done moving. And I I'm choosing that because it's time for me to build my brand. And I'm looking at manufacturers right now. I just had a big sale and I have a new collection that I'm working at. in looking at something for New York Fashion Week. So hopefully a popup, but I would say people should expect more pop-ups and me just making more styles that are available because right now it's all one of one. So I'm going to just grow my brand that way.

[00:49:51]>> Guess at the party already got a glimpse of her latest designs and she even got to dress some of them at the event. Her stint on Project Runway may not have lasted too long, but Arbony Gabriel is ready to run away with her own projects and advocacies as she looks to make her mark in Hollywood.
