Jeremy Vine argues that despite government campaigns promoting British savings, the reality of rising costs across essential services like food, fuel, and entertainment makes these savings insignificant for most households, as even small price reductions cannot offset the overall financial pressure on families.

Useless. Lay the platty, he's useless. I love I love I love our country. And one of the things about our country is good manners. Not very British.
Well, she I would say heckling is very British. That to me was a very, very British moment. But what I thought that revealed is that a lot of British politicians don't actually want to go out amongst the public because things get said. I mean, there's the >> Well, she's out.
>> Yeah, but she didn't like She's in a garage full of cool >> like the idea of a one of the great unwashed actually having a go at her because Well, she's she's supposed to stand there and say nothing.
>> No, she could have she could be clever enough to actually enjoy a bit of repartee. But she didn't. She stood there looking really uncomfortable. But the point I was making in terms of the realm was that um the the government appears to think that they can make us feel better off by launching a campaign about British savings. I went to the supermarket this morning to do a top-up shop and it's £45 for top-up shop. That's the reality for people. We know that going to the local pub if you want to buy a round is unaffordable for many people now. We know that putting petrol in the car it's because we have the massive costs rises across the board. The fact that a few things that's going to be cheaper to go on the bus when you've got kids and there might be some slight cheaper raisins that doesn't really touch the sides for most people.
