DC curfews pushed large groups into local neighborhoods, some residents sayAdded:
Felicia Ashley with 7 News. I am near the Fort Stanton Recreation Center and that is because neighbors sent me tons of videos and talked to me about unruly behavior, kids twerking on their cars, running through their backyards, breaking windshields, fighting, running through their property and they say when this same unruly behavior was seen in areas like the Navy Yard or the Wharf that the city got on it immediately with those curfews but they say because of that the kids, the teens and those large groups have now moved to these local neighborhoods where these families have been living for decades. They say they've been seeing this for weeks now, reached out, got no help, no responses and they say they want something done.
They need that support. Mind you, this is all happening right in front of the recreational center when it is closed.
The neighbors here just want to know why doesn't the city open up the rec center.
It has said time and time again they want to bring activities where the kids are already going. The community says they have a solution right here and it's not being used.
>> I mean, they block cars. The cars can't even go up and down the street. They walk in front of the cars. My vehicle isn't going to stop. I'm going to keep going.
So, if you walk in front of my car, that's on you.
>> Just don't do businesses. You have to do communities. Protect the communities.
Um you have what is it? Four locations.
>> Navy Yard, G Street, the Wharf.
>> Wharf.
>> The Mannequin.
>> Right. What about the neighborhoods?
We are not protected. So, those kids know that where to go.
They know where to go.
So, this is now it's a hot spot now.
It's It's horrible.
