Mains Test Series 2026 31st May Test Series Started IMS (Institute of Mathematical Sciences)Added:
Hello everyone, I'm Wanasur from IMS. So today I have a plan of explaining about the 2026 mains test series of mathematics optional. Right? So everyone was very busy till the yesterday of their prince and all. Now their prelim exam key paper also will be more or less will be released by you know tomorrow and after tomorrow that's the case. Now I think that doubt also is cleared and who are going to be qualify the exam who are not going to qualify the exam and whether you want to engage with the test series or you want to repreare the exam that's what you'll come to know by tomorrow adapter tomorrow that's well and uh now the point is that like in olden days the test series was you know written by the student by coming to the offline and all at least they used to you know uh submit and they used to discuss with the teacher they used to discuss with the you know pair group students and But you know now those days have been gone right. So that might be the reason I can say that because of the lack of interaction with the teachers and peer group students that might be the reason nowadays we unable to see the marks we want. Exactly. Because you know mathematics itself you're taking as an optional it means that for the marks you have to take not for the word you know general understanding or in anything for general understanding anyone can take the humanities optionals but the case of the mathematics option it's for the only marks you know how to get the good marks that's what the matter but that's possible unlimited like you know the way you want the marks the way for that the students are not working out that that's what I felt down the appropriator you know work is required right and now So the point is that told I think yesterday in in a previous video I told that the lot of students out of the 500 marks the 375 is the highest mark up to now right it was not the case with any of the optionals you know in a humanities humanity is not at all possible you know average marks are 200 something plus right but in the mathematics if you can get the average marks 300 plus it's it's a valuable word and it's a valuable to take the optional subject it's possible every material every you know lecture and everything is available for the student even test series and all. So now I'm coming forward to explain something about the 2026 mains mathematics optional right test series I'll be you know planning to explain over here. So this is the you know text you know test scheduleuler of the test series right and this test is absolutely beginning from the 31st May onwards right you have to be very careful because you don't have so much of time this time this time is very less time to write the mains examination we have schedules over here basically you know I have you know I used to conduct this model of the test series more or less from the so many years now it is a you know you proven model right for the students who are serious aspirants I I don't want to waste the student time also it's a proven model of the test series so this is the way you have to the the test series which has been produced over here the schedule which has been produced over here this is a pattern I hope the student is enough to follow right especially is for the 2026 mains exam writing students and of course some students they'll plan for the word you know year-long test series also for them the test schedule was different and they used to be you know take in the year long by attending these college classes also somebody are working people also like that they can test they want to test the knowledge that's a different schedule and that I'll explain later on right but otherwise this is the schedule I just wanted to explain but before that I I I just wanted to say something about you know test exam test right and basically if I take the example of the paper one I want to explain in on this you know under this lamp this documentary camera because the reason is that I want to I just want to wanted to correct the students paper also by putting their paper under this camera right and student is going to attend you know their doubt discussion the paper evaluation is going to be happen in front of them only that's what my plan they can we can even discuss their doubts also on face you know by that way right so this way they'll come to know their mistakes then and there and they'll get improvised for the next test and they won't fail otherwise you know the books are available lot many free lectures are available lot in the market they're not going to well we have to research but in less time how do you want to get the benefits in a less time how do you want to bring up your you know knowledge to use to success your exam that's what my point right but here I just want to explain some sample over here right that paper one if I'll take everyone knows Because there are two sections section A and then word section B I'll explain in one paper not so much here and we will be given with word eight questions out of the eight questions we have to answer word you know these are five questions right out of the five questions question number one is compulsory question number five also is a compulsory right that that's the case but here what are the questions in section wise you know 1 2 3 then four that's a section A and section B with word five 6 7 8 right and again uh you know what are the topics to be learned in a section A in section A in a paper one especially you have to learn about I would say linear algebra and I would say calculus I would say 3D geometry and uh that's it And in the case of word section B you will get to know that u uh OD right and uh you know vector calculus and then what statics and then dynamics these are the topics you have to you know prepare for the paper one right but see I just want to say uh question number one is compulsory and question number five is compulsory that's what have been written over here.
Okay. But now the point is that what are the you know from which topics these question number one and five will come up here. That's what so I would like to say here I would like to say here question number one it will be covered by word you know linear algebra and uh calculus also 3D also it will be covered by linear algebra calculus and 3D all the you know three topics will be covered right so they'll be asking here uh the number of questions A bit B and C bit and D bit and e bit there are five questions out of the five questions you have to answer the five questions that's it so more or less AB from the word line algebra you know CD from the word calculus and E from the word 3D sometimes it's going to be happen C only from the calculus and D from the 3D that's the case okay yeah this way and in the case of the fifth question if you really allow me I'll say here that the topics over here uh PD sorry OD and vector calculus and statics and you know dynamics that's what is going to be happen here also we have what A B C and D and E there are five bit questions will come up here and out of these five OD AB from the OD OD ordinary reference equations. Maybe CD R C is a vector calculus. Maybe this uh I would say D and D and E are from the statics and dynamics. Sometimes reverse also statics and dynamics. This is a situation. Okay.
Now if I go to the case of if I go to the case of question number two absolutely with about three chapters mixing A then B and C. Question number three, ABCD bits. ABC DD bits, right?
And question number four, again ABC bits, not ABC D sometimes D also I can't say D but C maximum and C that's it.
What are the topics will be covered?
every time they'll cover basically you know the three chapters selen algebra in every in a second question of selen algebra this calculus and the 3D the same situation occurs here the same situation occurs here but in this case I would say question number six it'll be covered by what all the three chapters again again ABC again ABC and question number seven again ABC okay again ABC question number eight again now ABC okay yeah that's for the case what are the topics to be covered will be covered and calculus will be covered or transances I can say and the statics and dynamics also will be covered the same is true with this question number seven and question number eight this is what the bifurcation between the word questions and chapters over here basically our paper would be what for the you know 250 marks And what is a question bifocation? Each question gets word in a 50 marks.
Earlier in earlier pattern it was a 60 marks. Now it is a 50 marks. 50 marks 50 marks. The same is here in the downside and 50 marks. 50 marks. 50 marks. Right?
That's what I'm trying to say and uh you can see but we have to answer only five questions. But question number one and question number five are compulsory. It means that since they told that question number one and five are compulsory you have to learn all the six chapters completely otherwise you may miss something so that will not help us so in to say prepare all the syllabus that's it no way no there's no point of leaving anything now at this moment I can't suggest anything because you are writing the the mains 2026 now whatever the topics have been prepared you have to re-prepare prepare and come and write the series that's it so that will help you right but at least I can discuss about this question pattern I think everyone knows also but still okay that that's fine now if I come to the word you prepared you prepared all the three chapters of the section A so you are eligible to attempt word question number one completely are able to attempt and you've been you've been prepared OD and PD OD and this better analysis in section B you prepared so you're not complete person to attempt the fifth question but that's what okay we'll see sometimes what happens uh sometimes what happens what is the way you have to select select uh you know question number six a bit maybe for the 20 marks B bit may be for I would say uh you know 20 marks C bit for maybe what you know 10 marks only 50 done now in The question number seven, A bit may be for the 15 marks. Bit for only world 15 marks. C bit for the 20 marks. Right?
And again just random explanation. I'll be doing nothing else here. Right? A bit is for here 10 marks in the question number eight and here it is a 20 and 20 marks. Right? Now if I'll come to the point question number one and question number five are really compulsory but remaining three questions at least one from each section. So that one from his section maybe you since you prepared all the three topics of the paper one I would say you are able to attempt completely question number two okay I'll be counting the question number two you are able to completely attempt but when it comes to the word when it comes to the section B uh I did explain about the question number five how you know how much attempt are able to take up that I did not tell you but I'll tell you also see question number six uh you are preparing well thorough preparation is happening between only two chapters OD and meta analysis right so it means that question number six may be with the 40 marks question number seven from your preparation maybe you know question number seven from the 30 marks that means that you're covering less marks in question number seven in question number eight you're covering again only 30 marks that mean that you're covering question number seven and question number eight you know bit less marks you're covering but in question number six you're covering 40 marks it mean that you know question number six you wanted to choose that that's what I'm trying to say that what has happened now question number one is and question number one and question number five are compulsory remaining at least one from each section you chose word question number two and question number six but what about the you know fifth question that's from anywhere but since you prepared all the three topics of the this section a right so maybe you have a two choices for 10 third question also fourth question also you can attempt anyone third question I'll be taking into the consideration now I'll be coming to the picture since you prepared all the topics of the section A so you are able to get word 50 by 50 you are able to attempt but no choice all the five to be you know you have to attempt there there's no choice the question number one and question number five and again question number two since you prepared completely all the three topics again 50 you covered and again 50 you covered from the third question but in the question number six you covered only what 40 marks not so much but according to the same situation here you can see each bit question will take 10 marks 10 marks 10 marks then total five bit questions will take a you know 50 marks that mean that D and E bit you may not do only are able to cover 30 marks in question number five right 30 marks are able to cover in question number five that's it so finally 50 50 and 180 and 220 out of the 250 marks you are able to cover you know 230 marks I believe you are able to cover 230 or 50/50 and uh 150 180 220 220 will cover but this 220 covering up this 220 covering is that it's your you know thorough hard work covering that's for the case but of course you know uh this statics in dynamics dynamics is more or less is connection with what this I would say uh calculus it's easily doable statics also easily doable. But my point is that you practice some set of number of questions again and again again and again again again and again. So that will help you but if you start preparing everything else you have to prepare all the six topics there's no issue with that but the point is that you have to look at the examination perspective how much correct attempt you did that's what the matter right but how much attempt you did that is not a matter how much correct attempt you did that's what the matter but in humanities they'll attempt all but finally they'll end up they don't know what they you know they're going to end up with what kind of marks that's what they don't know but at least you'll come to know how many marks you are going to end up with how many marks marks you at least you come to know after your exam right so correct means that correct is required here nothing else step-by-step writing and you know yeah I'll be coming to the paper two the same way I just want to explain right in paper two but I don't give all the details regarding the paper I'll just give the you know detailed discussion regarding the topics comparison nothing else here also we have section A we have the word section B right in section A 1 2 3 four and section B would 5 6 7 8 right but in section A the topics to be covered modern algebra and then I'll say real analysis and then I can say complex analysis and linear programming problem in section B we'll be covered here you know PD and then numerical analysis and the fluid dynamics and then mechanics Right? So I I just tell you in a paper one basically in a paper one in paper one what do you have in section A basically you have line algebra that is the same linear algebra compared with what model algebra more or less they are the same most of the statements are same most of the contents are same psychology of the content remain the same that that's for the case you can look at also that's not an issue so the you know the mon algebra and l algebra they're more or less same right and in The paper one calculus and paper two real analysis they are the same right and again this calculus and you know real analysis they'll cover up the word complex analysis the psychology of the complex analysis is same as word this you know calculus and and real analysis nothing is different right and again if I come to the case of word sometimes the linear programming problem you'll get help some of the matrix methods help you'll from the linear algebra right there's a PD of the first paper which is going to be whose extension is nothing but you have PD that's it no difference and as well as vector analysis absolutely connection to the calculus and real analysis and numerical analysis absolute connection with the calculus and real analysis right fluid dynamics also absolutely connection with the calculus and calculus that's it calculus sometimes 3D geometry also right and the same is true with the mechanics Right?
And this you know statics and dynamics corresp you you know in connection with the calculus and geometry. So this way we have some connections right like the same way like the same way I was trying to you know conduct the series from the last so many years right what is that my pattern I told you in paper one you have a linear algebra and calculus and 3D geometry the same related topics will be covered in the next test number two what is that algebra implies algebra model algebra Calculus implies real analysis and calculus and real analysis implies complex analysis and somewhere there some lenal of things will help you in a healthy way. This is a connection. So that means that after one section of the paper one paper one then the second section of the paper two will be connected as a test two in our IMS. Next when I come to the word test the test three is that OD and dynamics statics and w analysis the OD extension is word PD that is in an you know paper two but in our IMS we are going to conduct as a test for right and this calculus and real anal things will be covered in what numerical analysis computer programming is nothing that is elementary mathematics nothing else mechanics and fluid dynamics also I would say the same as they come from the you know good knowledge of the calculus will help you to manage that it's a fact right this way I'll go for the test one test two test three test four with interlinking with the connection I generally conduct the test series but this you know this test schedule really help you right the students who are writing mains 2026 seriously right but if the student is veteran student they they'll enjoy this test schedule Right?
If the student is not better and just you know is able to pass or you know whatever the attempt they'll really and but for them bit of difference you know different plan is required on the same schedule who are writing fresh means for them bit of different plan is required on the same schedule right okay after happening the topical tests then we'll go for the full length full length test series full length test that will be you know on 28th June right full length paper one and again now after we gap full length paper two test six right and again now full length paper one again and full length paper two then I go for the word full length paper one and two and same day you come and write with the UPSC mode the purpose of conducting the full length one and two in a same day it is a meaning that the same pressure you have to see in the UPSC paper so that to manage that pressure in UPSC actual exam then You practice in our exams like this way whatever the test we have right and again you know 2nd August 2026 again paper one and paper two and 9th August paper one paper two 16th August paper one paper two so when you write when you when you when you bear this pressure of writing right so it will definitely help you in your actual examination right so that's what sometimes what I do sometimes what I do you know for example full length paper one is I gave some questions some models I gave right and um then again 12th July full length paper one again so whatever the type of some questions I covered in full length one are in topic wise test whatever the you know questions have been covered so you might be done some mistakes but out of the you know some you know questions which I I was you know I was you know trying to cover in a paper one in a full length the same sort of question the same model questions I'll cover in the next also so that means that whatever the mistake you did in a paper full length paper one in 28th July if some questions which were will be covered again in the you know this 12th July paper one so you can understand your mistake Mr. So when kanasar is giving a question with some pattern with some plan it means that that question definitely is important that's what you need to identify you know need to understand right so this way you need to attempt the the whole test series religiously otherwise if you don't attempt the test series seriously so then it will not help you anymore that's what everybody knows but if I come to the case of the people who are just only you know writing the test series first time and the first time they writing The mains examination I suggest you strongly here you don't cover suppose of my test 31st May test there are three topics we were written here right what are the topics have written here please you know this explanation for those students who are writing fresh freshly this time means but it's not the case for the those students who already taken the test or the mains examination once or twice earlier for them this existing schedule is going to be helped them you have to follow this very strictly right but the now I'll be coming back and the student who is writing fresh for them I'll be explaining again right so now I'll be coming back here you can see uh linear algebra and calculus and 3D geometry you may not cover within a week you may not cover all three topics my suggestion is that you cover in test one you cover in test one okay you cover in test one Right.
Test one only two topics for example line algebra and calculus you covered why calculus to be covered here next continuation of the calculus also there in the next right and again in test two when it comes to the test two of the 7th June and all and because of the real you are able to sustain with what modern algebra right and because of the calculus you are able to sustain with what this real analysis also right and calculus uh sorry and complex analysis that's it but when it comes to the test number three right you have to cover this much and you can cover up the word OD that's easy to cover and vector calculus even statics then is also manageable vector calculus right but you have to stick on some things and again you know test number three sorry test number four when it comes to the word this PD extension is Sorry, OD extension is a PD PD and again I would say vector calculus anyway you've been covered because of the calculus you know well numerical analysis that's it so after all this after all this after all this now you're coming to the word full length paper one full length paper one okay paper one.
Okay. So you have to cover linear algebra you already studied calculus you already studied and OD you've been already studied and vector calculus you've been studied now what is not been covered here the topics related you know the topics related you know 3D geometry and you have not covered earlier and again there is a topic name called statics dynamics you have not covered so now extra topic you can cover what along with these four topics division in a full length one you can cover the word 3D extra right the same you can apply technique right full length paper two full length of paper two paper to write paper two what I'm saying here you've been covered a modern algebra you've been covered real analysis and complex analysis is and you've been covered PD and you've been covered NA but along with this you cover one more extra what has been left in the previous preparations here LPPP you left you cover it up that's it now when it comes to the again full length paper full length paper full length paper one I hope you understand paper one what are the topics have been covered You've been covered full length paper one the lean algebra calculus and OD you've been covered vral has been covered 3D also now covered now I can request and recommend you what is not been covered here statics and dynamics you try and cover statics and dynamics with a gradual improvement if it is possible you can prepare fully if it is not possible you can only target only number of questions to be practiced number of models what kind of model is coming in exam if I'll be again coming back to the paper uh full length paper two full length paper two right here here what are the topics earlier you've been covered you've been covered here modern algebra real analysis and complex analysis and PD right numerical analysis but now extra you can cover what you have not covered fluid dynamics and mechanics how much you are able to cover that's what you can cover up if you are able to cover completely it it's for those students who are the freshly writing the mains examination that's it for the you know older students who already wrote two or three times one or two times means for them the existing schedule itself is a good you have to cover that much right that's what I'm trying to say so this way if you are able to do the test series religiously I can bet any student will able you know crack this exam you are taking the mathematics option for only the what marks not for the work just to you know learn the mathematics so the nature of the subject itself is what basically you know marks to gain more and more marks to gain right it's not possible with the other optional subject it is possible in the mathematics you try and utilize so but finally I can say that I already told in the previous video my test series will be you know after conducting the test serious with this test schedule accordingly right so I I promise that this time this you know this lamb this documentary camera have been purchased for especially for the students who are writing the mains I'll keep their paper down to this camera right I I'll show their paper their hard copy paper to them I'll just keep encou what you know answers are there and whatever they've been taking the exam right at least they'll come to know what are the mistake they're doing in the test writing and what they have to cover right but they have not covered that's what I'll explain also I'll clearly if some steps are written wrongly also I'll write something over here when I write something over here then they'll get real okay this is a mistake I did this time this mistake I should not repeat again okay this is a model is repeatedly sir is giving in a test so that means I have to concentrate sir is again saying on the same thing is sir is emphasizing on the same you know model and all so that that way you can get the curiosity and you can able to get the seriousness on the exact questions what exactly come in exam so that that's what the good point is with the mathematics that if you really have a good practice I can bet you can easily you know work out right so this way the test will be you know conducted and test will be evaluated by by face to face of the student and the student can have the you know lot of benefits by sitting at home and getting the teacher interaction onetoone so it's a huge benefit for the student you can avail this program and do not miss it and uh do not away from me and uh yeah if you want to really crack the good marks obviously you have to be you have to be you have to be associated with me so that's what my request please and quick you have to take the quick decision and start quick preparation also and come forward thank you thank you so much and wish all the best for your means
