Most entrepreneurs quit before they get luckyAdded:
This video is going to be pretty similar to some of the very first videos that I made when I started documenting this journey about 2 years ago. In fact, when I started doing these daily videos, I was stuck deep in this client project that was basically building out this Bluetooth app, and most of my updates were like at 4:00 a.m. after very long nights trying to figure stuff out. It's not 4:00 a.m., but part of my day has been spent trying to ship some changes for a client. So, we have a demo on Wednesday. It is now Monday evening, so I have about 24 hours to wrap this up.
Tomorrow, I'm getting up early and getting back to it. I'm going to be basically the entire day trying to finish up this demo cuz I really want this demo to go well. We are going live with this system in about 10 days, and the client's going to be using it full-time every single day. And it's extremely important to me that this goes well because we will be saving the client literally about between 50 to 70,000 dollars a year. That kind of cost savings is just It's a really, really great case study to have because we know exactly how much we are really saving him, and we can then expand that to to other similar companies just like his one. Right now, it's just one of those seasons where like you just feel the pressure of being a solo founder because I have to do marketing, I have content that I need to be putting out. I'm not just talking about documenting this is a personal project that I want to do, but also I need to be putting out content that's useful and valuable for my ideal client profile, you know, about AI agents that we're building and so forth, and I have not done that today. I need to be making lead magnets. I haven't done that, and I'm got a demo on Wednesday, and they want to build something that will keep this client forever. I'm deep in the loop of just trying to keep up with everything, and unfortunately, today is a day that marketing didn't get much love. So, I didn't manage to plan anything particularly elaborate. But, I will say I have made one kind of observation recently, which is how the the tide has shifted very much in favor of a lot of software agencies. I've run my own software agency over the past 4 years, and there were definitely large periods of that during which like trying to sell software was very, very tough because we were participating in a very mature market. We were basically like people are familiar with the idea of software services. AI agents have come out, and that's a very new thing, and so it's a new wave, and so there's a lot of organic curiosity from business owners around this and that has made marketing extraordinarily easier. But I think it's also true that you can take other stuff that was already done before and and like learn to market it. I think there's something to be said about like being in business long enough to catch a wave.
There are trends. Trends will come and go. And riding on these trends can make you a lot of money. If there's one thing that I learned the hard way is that like whenever I saw other people getting really hyped about something and hopping on hype trains, sometimes I I felt like oh, I'm not going to jump on that cuz the hype's going to die out. But when it is in the mainstream, the amount of demand that goes toward that topic is a is a humongous and it makes a lot of money. And I think the smartest businesses tend to capitalize on that very very fast. And they move on that.
As this trend came around, I think it's an amazing opportunity to to improve a lot of the economy. Not just that, fundamentally I think there is something to be said about like in business, yes, there is a lot of work to be done and so forth, but there's an element of luck and opportunity. And and part of it is just like staying in the game long enough so that you can get lucky. I think there's not enough appreciation for that. As entrepreneurs, we like to credit ourselves and say that like you know, nobody else put in the work like we built it and so forth. And this is a very useful mentality to have because you own everything and that gives that empowers you to change it. And so if you say that everything is in my hands, everything is ultimately changeable by me. This is an extremely useful mindset.
But I think there there is absolutely a strong element of truth at the end of the day about about luck being a huge factor in things. It's not worth acknowledging in the day-to-day because the luck shouldn't change your actions.
You should be doing and putting in the work anyway, right? Like you can't change your luck, but you can change your work and so you should focus on that. But there is definitely something to be said about just acknowledging the fact that you will also be to some level a product of how long you're willing to stay in the game to eventually get lucky. And the client that we're working with now has somewhere around 50 to 100 employees. They run a pretty large furniture dealership here in Singapore.
They service all the major government agencies and universities and so forth and and some deals abroad as well. And the founder of this company has been in business for 29 years. That's longer than I've been alive. I think it just puts into perspective just like you have to keep doing this for seasons upon seasons upon seasons. And that compounding advantage that comes with time is just extremely hard to beat. And as much as we like to do hacks and so forth like half of the hack is just staying staying in the game and keep trying. And don't let yourself get cynical about stuff. I think I did get a little bit cynical about things at some point. Anyway, this is a complete raw mind dump. So, I appreciate you watching this far. I hope you found something interesting. all I have for now. So, that's it. I'll keep you posted on on the demo, but goodnight for now.
Hopefully see you in the next video. And I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
