[00:00:20]>> Uh myself Dr. Shankit I am DM neuriology from PJ Chandigar. So currently practicing uh neuro interventions at uh Yeshoda hospital.

[00:00:33]So uh so so first of all congratulating you for this great success. So uh just uh introduce you uh uh to introduce yourself uh to our listeners uh on this platform. Where are you basically from?

[00:00:48]Where have you done your UG PG everything?

[00:00:52]>> Okay. So uh I am Dr. Harsher. Uh I did my UG uh from UCMS Delhi uh 16 batch.

[00:01:01]Then uh I completed my MD in radiology from as no musher uh this year and uh then this session I gave this INI SS hero and got this. Yes.

[00:01:16]>> So your MD is uh this session completed this session only or you are like >> uh in January in January sir.

[00:01:24]>> January it was complete. So okay.

[00:01:26]>> Yes. Yes.

[00:01:27]>> So so right now you are doing SR ship or something somewhere or >> No no no.

[00:01:36]>> Okay. So so you are just dedicatedly giving time to this exam.

[00:01:43]>> Yeah. after the my MD exam I uh went to Udapur or for and after that for two or three months I prepared for this exam like daily.

[00:01:57]>> Yes.

[00:01:57]>> Okay. Okay. Great. Great. So just uh uh just for our viewers uh would you just like to tell our viewers like uh what made you pursue this uh neuro radiology as a super specialization post your MD radiology? Actually at our institute like supernatur IR cases were there also the SRs were less so the JRs would get most of the cases to do so that way our exposure was good in general IR cases and also few neuro cases were also happening so that's why I got interested and decided to build this.

[00:02:41]>> Okay. So you basically had an great exposure during your uh uh PG days that uh made you motivated for IR. So do you think it is necessary to have an early exposure to IR during residency or like many colleges don't have this uh intervention ideology per se in their PG at least like many peripheral colleges and even in you must have you must be knowing even in top Delhi colleges also they don't have IR in the particularly during the residency there is no exposure at least to the vascular interventions so you do you do you think it is necessary to have that exposure during PG for getting this success in the super specialization entrance.

[00:03:27]>> Uh I don't think it is necessary. It helps in the sense that uh you know whether you are interested in this or not. Uh but for preparation I don't think uh it is necessary. Yeah.

[00:03:42]>> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So basically if one is interested and very much motivated so even if does not have that exposure during the residency so they can also pursue this uh DM entrance and get a success.

[00:03:58]>> Definitely >> definitely yes. So, so did you expect this rank in this exam? Like how do you feel like it was very much expected or it's kind of >> No, no, I expected a good rank but obviously rank one uh you can't expect however much you prepare >> and my interview also went well so I was confident of getting a good rank at least.

[00:04:24]>> Okay. So uh so tell me about your preparation hs like how were you preparing for this uh INI SS exam specifically like how much months or days of preparation dedicatedly for this exam?

[00:04:39]uh for this I think uh one Osborne is there that is for neuroraiology specifically >> book I read and uh uh because we had so much exposure of IR we used to read this Kandpa IR handbook also >> uh other than that uh no other textbooks as such but uh since there are no like practice questions or such uh so I did some like FRCR questions banks but I don't know if it helps or not. I just uh read them. Yeah.

[00:05:15]>> And so basically you read the standard textbook reading was Osborne >> uh for neuro. Yes.

[00:05:22]>> For neuro. Yeah. And uh this Osborne did you read during your residency or you started reading it only for this exam after your residency was finished? uh during residency like uh whatever case I used to see I just uh looked it up but uh didn't read it from like first page to the last page uh for this preparation uh I read it thoroughly >> so you again revisited the book and read it like >> yes >> yes yes >> so do you think like the questions were directed from the Osma or there were questions mostly many questions outside the book as well.

[00:06:03]>> Uh yeah, I don't think any direct questions were there but like if you read extensively it helps.

[00:06:12]>> Helps.

[00:06:13]>> Yeah. Yes.

[00:06:14]>> Also for spotters.

[00:06:18]>> Yes.

[00:06:18]>> Uh for spotters uh I this on AJNR there is one case of the >> classic case of the week.

[00:06:27]>> Case of the week and case of the month.

[00:06:29]>> Yeah.

[00:06:29]>> Yeah. So that helped I think for >> for the spotters.

[00:06:35]>> Yes. Yes.

[00:06:36]>> Yes. And uh regarding uh your neurointervention part like how do you felt questions were from the neuroinvention in the exam?

[00:06:47]>> Uh most of the exam was based on diagnostic questions.

[00:06:51]>> Diagnostic only. Okay.

[00:06:53]>> Yes. Um few of the IR questions I think were like not too complex. Uh you can do like based on stroke or something >> which you usually read. So >> mostly I think focus should be on diagnostic part of you at least for this exam. Yes.

[00:07:12]>> Yes. So I think you made a very clear good point that uh primary focus if one is preparing should be on the diagnostic part mostly and uh the intervention part usually questions are not very tough and they can be attempted easily. Okay. And regarding your general part because INI has 50/50 right from the neuro and 50% questions from the general radiology.

[00:07:36]Did you prepare specifically for the general aspect or it was just like uh from the back of your mind whatever you have read and >> all I think this time it was not 50/50 like uh maybe out of 80 like 60 questions were of neuro >> and uh yes and 20 were of general radiology >> general okay >> I didn't prepare much for general I just read whatever notes I had made during my MD and practiced few like those F FRC questions >> questions okay so for question bank did you specifically use some some sources or only from the FRC question banks available >> no I couldn't find actually so uh I did those only yeah >> okay and uh like uh tell me about like how binrad helped you in this like are mock tests or the sample questions were they helpful for uh this uh neuro mock exam I gave I think one or two questions were almost the almost similar or some wording was changed.

[00:08:44]>> Okay.

[00:08:45]>> Uh and uh these uh after the exam the spotter sessions were helpful in the sense you get to know what is the format of the exam and like what to expect during the interview >> interview. Yes. So that mock interview actually was was an initiative by winrad where we tried to address that issue only because most of the participants are giving the exam for the first time and they don't know what to expect in the interview or the viba. So I it's it's actually an initiative for that. So how how that mock interviews were uh actually helpful. Can you just elaborate on that?

[00:09:28]>> Yeah, it was very helpful. I think uh I did not have any idea what to expect during the interview. So uh in the mock test uh like they told me he spotters will be there.

[00:09:40]>> So then I started preparing for spotters from whatever sources I could find.

[00:09:46]>> And uh also in the interview they don't give you too much time to think like maybe 10 or 15 seconds.

[00:09:53]>> Exactly.

[00:09:53]>> So that I was prepared so that helped out. Yeah. And uh also like how were the pattern of spotters like did you find them similar in the actual interview?

[00:10:06]>> Uh yeah spotters uh uh uh I think one or two are the same which we which you showed in the spotter sessions but overall it was not too difficult.

[00:10:20]>> Uh just that during the interview uh like you have to answer within 10 seconds.

[00:10:26]>> Yeah. Otherwise not too difficult. Yeah.

[00:10:28]Yes sir.

[00:10:30]>> Sometimes even easier ones becomes difficult because of the time frame and uh in that particular exam stress. So that's how these preparation mock test and mock interviews are actually helpful. So great uh so just tell me like anything that you want to change about your preparation. Now right now you have got a fantastic rank you have got the best uh rank and results. So do you think anything that you need to change that might have changed during your preparation uh that is helpful for the future aspirants?

[00:11:03]>> Uh maybe reading less of theory and doing more questions >> more of MCQs.

[00:11:10]>> Yeah but I don't know where to like what is the source so that is the issue.

[00:11:15]Yeah and regarding this MCQs, I think we are getting up with more MCQs in our platform as well. So I think in future it will be helpful for the aspirants uh to practice more and uh depend less on the theory and more on the MCQs. So uh what was your exam strategy like? Like uh how many questions did you attempt?

[00:11:38]like did you attempt all of them or you left those questions which were difficult like for the negative marking point of view?

[00:11:46]>> Uh I actually before the exam I saw the previous session results like marks wise so I got to know what is the like average marks of the top 10 ranks or so >> but that depends on the difficulty of the paper always but it gives you a general idea. So based on that like I attempted I think 70 70 questions >> out of 80.

[00:12:14]>> Yeah. Yes.

[00:12:15]>> Okay.

[00:12:17]Okay. So so very difficult ones you you tried to avoid and >> or if it was taking too much time. Yes.

[00:12:24]>> Time. Yeah. Okay. And uh how was the paper this time? It was like a more difficult side or on an easier side. But what do you think? It I would say it was on the difficult side.

[00:12:36]>> Difficult side.

[00:12:38]>> Yes. Yes.

[00:12:40]>> Okay. So, so it usually also depends on the difficulty level because uh that's how how people will the the number difficulty will be same for everyone, right? If it's a difficult paper then everyone will find it difficult.

[00:12:53]>> So uh and uh what topics would you like to suggest our viewers like those who are targeting for this neuro radiology?

[00:13:01]there are any specific topics that from the neuro you want to uh tell them that these are the must go or they are very important topics.

[00:13:11]>> Uh I think one is this metabolic inborn errors of metabolism or pediatric uh lipodistrophies.

[00:13:21]>> Second is of course this brain tumors classification and all. M >> then in theory also MRI physics is uh like some questions were tough I could not attend but uh physics one should focus I think >> MRI physics specifically >> okay so MR physics and pediatric neuroraiology and brain tumor so these are the topics that are must to revise before the exam >> and what was your revision strategy like like did you have any specific speific topics that were in your mind that you revised in the last moment. How was your last last week, last month preparation strategy?

[00:14:03]>> Uh uh for last week I think I just revised my notes whatever I had prepared during my MD and before that I just used to see some spotters or did some MCQs nothing specifically.

[00:14:20]>> Okay.

[00:14:22]>> Okay. Okay. So, so, so you think the OSBON should be a base or a foundation and one can revise the important points through a notes or whatever sources mainly these important topics that you have highlighted before the exam and focus should be more on the diagnostic neuroraiology part rather than the interventional neuroraiology. Yes.

[00:14:45]>> At least for the entrance, right? So, am I right?

[00:14:48]>> Yes. Yes.

[00:14:48]>> Yes. Okay. I think that will help our future aspirants. So, so now just for a quick uh rapid fire kind of things, I'll ask you a few questions. Uh just uh you can answer in a line or two. Uh so what do you think is the one book every inspirate must read?

[00:15:10]>> Uh Osborne.

[00:15:11]>> Osborne. Okay. So one most underrated topic in neuroraiology.

[00:15:17]underrated means uh it it's underrated but it's high >> maybe physics for me I don't know I don't read much physics so >> okay physics okay good and uh what do you do outside your like normal uh work like what's what are your hobbies and all that you do outside radiology >> uh like I play some tennis occasionally and pool yeah Okay. Okay. And uh one one uh single most ad important advice if you want to give the future uh aspirants >> for this exam.

[00:15:58]>> For this exam. Yeah.

[00:16:00]>> Uh uh maybe manage your time better. Uh like I uh I was stuck on a few questions so at the last minute I couldn't uh like go back to those. So maybe manage your time wisely.

[00:16:20]>> Okay. Uh so at the end uh we will just uh conclude now last few questions. So whom do you want to thank at this moment of time?

[00:16:30]Like you have got like an excellent result. So who are the most your like inspirations behind this and whom do you want to thank uh at this moment?

[00:16:40]Uh yeah obviously my parents, my brother and uh my department at uh nature the faculties were very supportive and approachable and they only encouraged you to pursue this IR >> great and where do you see yourself in the next few years or next 10 years maybe >> I haven't thought that you have not that into that uh right >> so right now just enjoy and enjoy your success. I think you have got a great rank and wish you all the very best for this joining uh neuro radiology as a carrier and I wish you all the best and it was very nice talking to you and connecting with you.
