The Secret Relief: Navigating Disenfranchised Grief When a Parent PassesAñadido:
Uh, but if they passed and you might have certain grief and almost a relief that they passed. But because society doesn't have uh strong template for that sort of grief, it's likely a few days later when you have that relief, you might also feel guilty or you just don't have always a community or a template to relate to having this relief when a parent passes.
And there's also the sense that you can almost feel like a monster or like you're not normal because you feel this relief or because other people don't recognize it and so you feel alienated maybe. And because you find that why would I feel this way about my mom or my dad? Because maybe they just didn't know any better and maybe they tried their best. So people wrestle with this, right? But that's a typical part of this identity of the upper left is dealing with the complex grief, the disenfranchised grief.
