Indecision and delayed action in infrastructure projects can lead to massive cost overruns, as demonstrated by a desalination plant in Corpus Christi that ballooned from an initial $600 million budget to nearly $2 billion due to delayed funding collection, supply chain disruptions during the pandemic, and unaddressed environmental concerns about brine disposal that were not incorporated into the original quote.

Indecision Tripled Desalination Plant Costs: Billions Lost! #shortsAdded:
I think indecision costs you more in the long run. And from what I understand, please correct me if I'm wrong on on Corpus, >> [music] >> is that it was years ago right around COVID that they had agreed to come to the budget of like 600 something million >> [music] >> to do the desal plant. But then over time they were trying to collect the money, right? That takes a couple of years, I guess. And then [music] in the meantime they were concerned about the brine water, what's going to happen with all the salt. And we have no place to put that. So I guess that wasn't incorporated in the quote. So shame on the guys that, you know, did the quote.
But now here it is a couple of years later because of the COVID situation, our supply chain was ridiculous. And so that 600 something million by the time they got the money, now [music] it's almost 2 billion. And so now, okay, well now what are we going to do? Now we got to come up with 2 billion dollars.
