This video explains that Denver experienced an unusually hot July, with 16 of the first 17 days hotter than normal, and forecasts continued extreme temperatures of 95-100°F through Sunday and Monday, accompanied by a heat advisory and ozone pollution alerts, while the monsoon pattern brings scattered showers to the mountains and western slope, helping reduce wildfire activity and improving air quality.

Denver Gazette weather for Saturday, July 18
Added:Hey, it's meteorologist Corey Repenhagen here with the 9 News weather impact team taking a look at your forecast. And you know, July is always hot in Denver, but uh this July has been even hotter than normal. Take a look at the high temperature summary. Now, 16 of the first 17 days have been hotter than normal. Some by just a degree or two, but they that's where they've been. only one day the normal high temperature on this day was 90. So we were one degree away from having uh a few more another one on the board 17 out of 17. And here's some high temperatures for you as we get into your Saturday and we're going to be right back in there a few degrees above normal. So our normal high temperature of 91 here in Denver. We're forecast is 95. We could have a hundred on the board here up in Sterling and some other heat also on the western slope and down in the southeast corner despite a few monsoon showers. This is really where we'll see the focus of the cooler temperatures and the impact of those showers. So, uh we will increase the temperature going into Sunday and then Monday. Okay, we have a heat advisory in place and we also have a 9 News weather impact alert for Sunday and Monday because of the possibility of extreme temperatures uh upwards of 99 or 100°. More on that in just a second, but take a look at your futurecast here.
There will be some more showers as the monsoon weather pattern has kicked in in parts of the Colorado mountains. Here we are 9:00 on Saturday morning. The state stay starts out mostly sunny and clear, but the showers quickly appear here as the monsoon is starting to have an impact here on the mountains, especially down here in the southwest. Once again, some isolated showers elsewhere as the front range stays clear and sunny for Saturday. We start Sunday out with clear skies briefly across the state of Colorado. And that monsoon moisture continues to kick in across parts of the high country. Some scattered showers out there again on Sunday while the front range including Denver stays dry and sunny for the next two days. And those monsoon showers are starting to have an impact on the uh fires that are burning across the state. But the Aspenacres fire did uh flare up one time here on Thursday, getting the uh acreage up above 100,000. So that's now our seventh 100,000 acre fire in the state of Colorado in history and two in a row here. Last year we had the leave fire.
Ferris uh fire is also on the top 10. So that activity will start to die down now that we have the uh monsoon pattern in effect. We'll also see less air quality alerts across the state. We have no uh planned air quality alerts for wildfire smoke on Saturday, but we do have another ozone action alert here for the ozone pollution air quality alert here across the front range coming up on Saturday. And that'll probably go through into Sunday and Monday as well as the temperatures go up, the sunshine stays in hold. That is the recipe for that ozone pollution to get created across the front range. 9 News weather impact alert for the possibility of extreme temperatures. Our forecast 99 for both days. Tuesday and Wednesday, the pattern changes. Although we could still be at or maybe above 90°, but look at the chances for rain here.
Significant increases here in rain chances. Those are pretty good chances to get hit by some rain each day starting Tuesday going through Friday.
That's your forecast. I hope you all have a real nice weekend.
