This video effectively exposes how xenophobia uses social frustration to justify violence against legal residents, undermining the rule of law. It is a sober reminder that a nation cannot solve its problems by scapegoating those who have followed its laws.

SOUTH AFRICA DIVIDED : ANC OFFICIAL CALLS FOR END TO XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS!Added:
Some very telling things are happening in South Africa right now. You all know about this. I think this is a very important discussion that we cannot ignore and we need to give it the attention that it requires. Okay. South Africa say they are tired of foreigners, black foreigners or what some people call illegal foreigners. Now some people say it's not necessarily illegal foreigners, it's just black foreigners.
Um it sounds justifiable when you say illegal foreigners. But the goal for some people is actually not really illegal foreigners because apparently even some legal foreigners are being really harassed.
Once they are asked the document and the document is valid, they asked why are you here?
When did you come here? What were the reasons? When you must leave the country. We've seen a couple of videos unfortunately that's kind of confirmed.
We're not saying that's exactly the entire thing that's happening everywhere. We've seen videos. Uh, as you can see, this is a video of a Nigerian man that's on a car wash. Car wash is basically when you wash your car. Uh, they asked him for his papers, his passport. He showed his ID. ID means he's integrated into the South African society. You don't get an ID just for free or for nothing. It's because you've been there for a long time enough as an legal immigrant and now you earn the right to get an ID like any other country does. It's not a special gift.
It means you've worked your way and you have decided to stay and you show the government that you're a decent enough citizen and you deserve to get an ID or you have the right to get an ID. Now in spite of that he still was asked why did you initially come to the country? No, you shouldn't be here. You shouldn't open a business here. Matter of fact, they say business should only be for local people.
>> From Nigeria?
>> Yes.
>> You're from Nigeria?
>> Yes.
>> Okay. So, do you have papers to be here in South Africa?
>> Yes, I have my ID.
>> You have your ID?
>> Yes.
>> No. No. How did you get the ID?
>> I got my ID from from home affairs.
>> Man, sir, where did you get the ID? When was it?
>> Uh, since uh 2005.
>> It was 2005.
>> 2005. You came to South Africa to do what?
>> Uh I came to South >> What is the main reason for you to come to South Africa?
>> Uh I came to South Africa for because there was a war in South in Nigeria.
>> No no you came as a refugee.
>> So what are you doing now for living in South Africa?
>> Sorry.
>> What are you doing now for living here in South Africa?
>> I'm employing the South.
>> What are you doing?
>> Are you the one who's running the Kawash? Look, look, look, sir, just to be gentle because I'm an old man. We are here to tell you according to immigration act 2002 section 13, 15 and 19, you are not allowed to operate any kind of business up not unless you have a minimum investment of 5 million rand and above. It's either you invest to the exist business or to the new one who register with CIPC with revenue and home affairs. You must apply for a business gift. You are not allowed to operate in informal trading such as kawash. So now we are not asking you. You have to close this car wash. Now it belongs to South Africans.
>> Are we together?
>> No.
>> I'm say to you. Yes.
>> But the investment of this car wash is more than 5 million.
>> No no no no.
>> But as much as that rhetoric made sense business should be for local people businesses. I mean small businesses.
That's only applies to refugees or illegal immigrant not for people that have ID. If person who has ID is considered a legal citizen lawabiding taxpayer. He can open a business that is not worth 55 million rand. That's what the law says. Now is it illegal immigrants or is just black immigrants?
Either way they are not totally wrong.
You know, it's their country. Whether you're legal or not, it's their country.
For them to say, "We don't want you anymore." Now, is it a matter of legality or morality? You know what I'm saying? Legality, it makes no sense.
Well, morality, it's none of your business because they owe you nothing. I know a lot of people are actually angry in terms of morality because they expect South Africans to understand, to stay quiet, to accept them because they supported South Africa during a part.
And we can understand that if you provided help and support for somebody in a boss to get through a hardship or difficult time, you would expect them to return you the favor in the future or maybe to allow you to stay at their house without necessarily having to check your papers or your credentials.
Well, that's not the case of South Africa. This generation has completely forgotten what y'all did for them or your fathers did for their fathers.
They're not their fathers. They say you must piss off. You must go back to your country and fix your country. Should you be upset with them because of that? I can understand the morality, but do they have the morals or owe you the morality?
Question mark. Now, there was a ultimatum put out there talking about the 30th of June. On the 30th of June, all foreigners of black foreign illegal immigrant, but I don't Yeah, that's what it sounds like. Illegal immigrant on the ground is not illegal immigrants. It's every immigrant until you prove not guilty. It's not guilty until proven.
Yeah. It's you are guilty until proven not guilty. Not innocent until proven guilty. But you are guilty because you look different. Because you don't speak Zulu. Because you have a flathead. I didn't know Africans had flathead until I visited South Africa. Matter of fact, I didn't know I was black. You know, you know, I didn't know I was black. I never knew. I mean, I knew I was black, but I never really really never knew I was black. I only actually really discovered that I was black when I went to South Africa. So anyway, let's continue. Here are some of the videos that you should see. Okay. Uh some of the people said the reason why foreigners come, they take their jobs and stuff. But some South Africans, maybe some of you would like to hear that are not what you think they are.
They don't like the fact that Africans are being chased away. And they're saying these so-called jobs that you're talking about. You say these people are taking your jobs. They're not taking your jobs because you guys don't actually want to work these jobs. Listen to this guy.
>> I'm looking for a Zulu guy to become my my my gardener. I'm looking for a Zulu guy to become my gardener.
Uh yeah, payment will be about 2,200 a month. I'm also looking for a Zulu lady who will clean my house, do laundry, and and take off the keys. Her payment will be 2,500 a month.
This is what the current market offering is. If there's any Zulu people out there, a Zulu guy who can deal with the gardening at 2.2 and a Zulu woman who can deal with house cleaning, uh, house care, kids and everything, payment is 2.5. This is the payment out.
>> So this man is South African himself and he's throwing a stone on Zulus. Zulu people. Zulus are people from this province as you can see. It's called Quazulu Natal. Yes, these are the friends and families of Shakazulu. You know Shagazulu the warrior. You've seen the movie certainly. Now he's saying I'm looking for the Zulu guy because they feel some people feel like a lot of people that are marching against illegal foreigners. Some people are feeling that the majorities are Zulus. And that is why these guys made a video about Zulus.
He didn't say I'm looking for Stuana guys. I'm looking for petty guys. I'm looking for Tonga guys. Remember South Africa is a country like most African countries. Not everybody's Zulu. Okay.
No, they have multiple tribes and multiple tribes in the same way like many other countries don't necessarily behave the same according to each other.
They and it's never everybody. Okay, not everybody. Maybe you can see a tribe.
You see this tribe tendency to be good business people, right? You've seen that in your country. This tribe is tendency to be violent. You've seen that in your country. you also probably have a tribe like that that these people you don't play with them they will pull out the machete or something. So I don't know why he's mentioning Zulu guys but he said I'm hiring Zulu people. I want a Zulu person to come and do this job for me. I want a Zulu gardener. I want a Zulu maid. Why you saying that? Because clearly the man can hire a maid or a gardener for $2,500 rand which is approximately $120 a month. And no Zulu man or lady according to this man is willing to do the job. So according to this man they should stop bothering foreigners who are willing to take a lower pay and do the job. Now the question is does he have the right to pay people that amount of money? Question mark. That's very interesting. Does South Africa has a limit amount of money that you would pay the minimum amount of money? It's it definitely is. How much is it? 2,500.
Question mark. Is this man really lacks or who liking foreigners or is he being abusive because he can exploit foreigners, foreign black Africans? Will he be able to pay the minimum amount that the government requires for such job? Question mark. Is he really a lover of foreigners or just loves the possibility of exploiting foreigners?
Question mark. Let's go to the next video.
>> National TV and threaten violence.
Who are you in a democratic state?
>> Who's threatening violence on national TV? Question mark.
>> As South Africans, we are giving governments until the 30th of June to give us a a map of how they are going to deal with the issue of illegal immigration. I don't think any of us are stupid to think that all of them will be gone. Of course not. But we are encouraging them to go before the 30th of June. There's two types of of of immigrants that we we are dealing with.
There's those that we know will self-deport. We know those ones. They're most most of the time just innocent people who are just coming here to just make a living etc etc. And those will go. They're not going to give much of a problem. But the ones that will stay are the ones that are the biggest problem.
Those are the ones that require the intensity of the government that require the intensity of South Africans and that's why we're going to intensify our our push back to government.
>> Express your views. Criticize government about in its inepness quote unquote uh in dealing with matters of illegal immigrants. But don't call for violence in our country. We know what violence can do. Brother, I'm sweating big time.
And I'm in a country in central Africa.
It's burning hot. It's basically 1 a.m.
I don't know if you can see. Can you see?
It is 1:55 a.m. in the morning and I'm sweating in a car. Let's continue. These people who call for violence look at what they did in June and July unrest looting here in Joberg and Kadan.
>> Okay. So this is a very influential person in South Africa. He's a great man, great politician. When I say great politician, I simply mean somebody you have to recognize. And he's not about that life. He doesn't like the South Africans that are going to the streets and walking against illegal immigrants. He's saying they are looting. They are stealing. So again, you can see not all South Africans are what most people call xenophobic. Are they xenophobic South African?
Absolutely.
Are they South Africans that just want illegal immigrant to leave? Absolutely.
They're not the same. Okay. The one that just want illegal immigrant to leave are not violent. They don't beat people.
They don't run into people's shops. They don't do other things. Then they are the xenophobic. Those ones they just hate you. They don't have nothing. It's like they had enough of you. There's different type of them. Let's continue.
And now they think no this thing is doable.
You can go to TV and say that on such and such a date if you don't move mountains you will see what will happen.
We must acknowledge that South Africa is a very interesting country where somebody can just go on TV and threaten if you don't do what we asking you will see in the most African countries they will beat you up bad my friend they throw you in jail and your family will beg for that as much as I like that for South African you know the ability to express yourself you do have that you can say things against government and without the fear of being mistreated uh it shouldn't be taken for granted okay there are multiple reasons Why South Africans have that which will develop next time and Africans are if the South African government was entirely black black and there was no white people in that country. We'll explain later on. Let's continue.
>> You are INCITING VIOLENCE. INNOCENT PEOPLE are going to be you know how many people we lost in the July and more than 400 South Africans died in that in that thing. We will never support anarchydriven uh uh activities.
Uh we are detailing in our statement as a matter of >> that's what it is fellas. Let me know how you feel about this. Let's love each other. Support one another violence.
>> You know I'm Yeah. I'm not condoning illegal immigration. But I know you know I know you know you know racist person find genuine excuses to justify his racism. Yes. They say as a white man, I hate black people because they criminals.
I hate them because they steal from other people. I hate them because they steal from their own cousins. I hate them because they take toilet paper from the mall toilet, the shopping centers toilet. They steal. I mean, are they telling the truth? They are telling the truth. Absolutely. Are they lying? No, they're not lying. They pick up things that are absolutely real. I hate those people because they will put a gun on your head and shoot because of a cell phone. Are they lying? They're not lying. I hate those people because look how they they they analy each other. Are they lying? No, they're not lying.
They're not lying. But does that justify you being racist? Does it mean all of us do that? No, we don't. But they will use that as a tool. The reason why this is how I justify my racism in the same way xenophobic dudes. Genophobic people will justify xenophobia by accusing people of being all criminals sellers of drugs.
Not everybody sells drugs. How about you deal with the people that sell drugs and put them in jail? No, they're not interested in that. They want all of you to go. It's not it's not about the drugs. It's about you the people. Now they taking our shops and let's take the people that are taking the shop and put them to jail and leave the one that are nice sitting. Okay. No. No. No.
We don't want that anymore. So it's just a justification. The same way a racist person doesn't like people, they will find an excuse. I know this is a very difficult topic, but we need to talk about these things. Are they xenophobic people? Absolutely.
