This is a classic case of an intellectual hobbyist over-engineering a simple feeding process into a "biofilm strategy." It’s a sophisticated way to justify letting a tank get messy, even if the results are technically impressive.

Breeding/Raising Red Lizard Whiptails on Shrimp food. L10a L11a
Added:So, we've all seen this. This is our powdered Neocaridina food, which is designed and fantastic at growing and breeding your Neocaridina. It's not intended for these guys, which is a one-day-old one of these lizard whiptail catfish. But, because of the ingredients and its proven ability to grow healthy biofilm, I thought I'd try and raise them on nothing but this. Why? It's low protein, which means low bacterial load and low slick. If you look closely when we zoom in, you will see a lot of microorganisms that are feeding very, very well on this very healthy biofilm, which is even more food for when these guys grow up into this, which is 5 weeks later. You can see that they have got great color, the growth has been good, the biofilm is great, and deaths very, very low.
So, this is a bit of a result. I'm loving this.
