This video captures the brutal reality of the commodity treadmill, where farmers must gamble on market timing just to fund the next cycle. It provides a sobering look at the high-stakes liquidity management that theoretical economics often oversimplifies.

Selling Corn to afford to Plant more CornHinzugefügt:
Okay. So, this on the cylinder, I need to put two pin two washers in there.
Just two.
And then this.
>> You get it?
>> I think so.
>> Well, it's a little muddy back here, but I'm going to grab two loads of corn. The price of corn's gone up dang near 20 cents in the last week or two.
Well, I got my mask here. I was thinking I was going to clean a bin, but it's too muddy over there. That's the bin that is low enough to where we got to turn the sweep on.
This is the first long line that I've had to deal with all year. I guess everyone else thought the price was good. Let's haul in a couple loads. I'm going to have to be on the gravel.
We got another special video. Thanks to AG1 for sponsoring today. You want to listen to this? We got a deal for you.

Oh, I dropped my packet.
That's the original flavor. I taste a little I always think it's like coconut.

Uncle Jeff's stopping by shortly. He's going to be taking a trip to the salvage yard and we got some junk to send with.
Got two loads of corn in. That's some of the highest priced corn I've sold in 2 years, I'd say. Tore that fence out.
Probably what was that? This February or January?
Put in a new one. Here's all the old stuff right here.
Uncle Jeff got some wood.
I might fill that trailer up. Look at that.
My grandpa actually built that trailer about 35 to 40 years ago. I so wish my grandpa could have been on some videos.
Uh he passed away when I was a freshman in high school and I started making these videos about 7 years after that. But that would have been fun. That's what's great about the internet. These videos are going to be out there forever. Can look back and reminisce and see how far we've come.
That's pretty empty.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
We're loaded up with some seed.
We're going to We got the right field.
Okay. So, we go to setup and we're going to punch in what we're planting. Punching this in because when I take this data off after harvest, it will know what was planted where, and we'll be able to compare and see what yielded the best, all the different hybrids we've planted over the years. We're looking for a decal 101.
if it's in here.
Not sure if we've planted this one before.
Hopefully, this planter is ready to go.
Over the last few days, we found one bearing out on a gauge wheel, one almost flat tire, and one pin broke. A big pin, inch and a quarter, diameter pin. 6 days ago, we got an inch and a half of rain. And we're back in the field, no standing water. Look at that. It soaked right in.
Just hope we don't hit the trees. I sure hope we go around the trees. We're going to learn here.
We're going to tickle some tree.
>> I don't mind tickling the tree. I don't want to slap the tree.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
I would say the traffic sure increased after we started planting.
>> Yeah.
>> So, so much >> the word's out and it's like, holy smokes.
>> Who's the idiot planting back already?
>> We got some warmer temperatures coming and when it cools down those two days, it's not that cool.
That is cool.
I'm going to walk you through what's going on behind me. Things are turning and seeds are going in the ground.
>> Planting.
>> I hope.
>> Oh, that tree.
>> That tree wants to be involved in the operation. That ain't good right there.
That ain't good.
That ain't good.
Fertilizer. Fertilizer.
>> You're going to have a banana tree.
>> Yeah.
If you remember last video, we were messing with the meters a little bit cuz we were complaining of some excess doubles. Made the doubles eliminator more aggressive and that really helped a lot. We think it's planting good now.
So, we threw a box of decal in the planter earlier and when he runs out, he's going to plant some pioneer. This is I tried five bags of this last year and it did well. So, we're going to try it again. And then dad also got some mustang seed. Trying to achieve some untamed yields. That's their motto. get that in the back of my truck so when I get the call I'm ready to help load some seed.
We got some Breant Pioneer Mustang Hefty Decal and even some channel.
Dad tells me a story about one day he was trying to outrun a storm pick up full of bags of seed seed corn in the back. He's driving a little too fast and he saw the wind take one stand it upright and then fly out of the back of the pickup. Those are expensive.
You know, a bag of seed around here probably run you anywhere from uh about $260 to, you know, if you want some really expensive stuff, you can find something over 300 bucks. But I don't like to spend that kind of money.
Heat.
Heat.
All righty, folks. We're moving. It's warm. It's 71° right now. We're planting in the dust, even though we got a significant rain just about 6 days ago.
We hauled some corn. We planted some corn. Hope you enjoyed it. Love to see you next time. Have a good one.
Those bananas, they must come out of the ground real fast when you plant
