Big Offseason Coming | Rebuilding the Los Angles Lakers

[00:00:00]So, I did make an LA Lakers rebuild when they got eliminated in round two to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but unfortunately when I doubted the post lottery save, the overalls were kind of messed up. It felt a little bit of an underwhelming rebuild. So, today I'm going to make it up to you Lakers fans and we're going to be doing another LA Lakers rebuild. So, what is going on everybody? How is everybody doing today? I do think right now for me personally, the Lakers are the toughest team to rebuild. At least trying to do a realistic mindset, right?

[00:00:25]Like I could sign and trade LeBron James for, I don't know, Jaylen Duran, right?

[00:00:29]And it's like, yeah, I can win a title pretty easily with that. But I'm trying to do this where it's not like completely unfair. I know not all my moves are going to be 100% realistic, but I try not to take overly advantage of the CPU. So, I think going into this, my mindset is going to be I'm not winning a title in 2027. We're watching what the Thunder and the Spurs are doing right now. If I can make it to the playoffs, great. And I think we're going to try our best to make it to the playoffs. If I can win a playoff series, great. It's not the end of the world if we don't win it in 27. We are going to get off of a bunch of contracts after this year. I mean, the Lakers are going to have a ton of cap space this off seasonason if they didn't bring back LeBron and or Reeves. Vando and Luca are the only contracts under full guarantee next year. And I believe Jake as well. I can't really look at that fully. So, looking at the roster, it's like we're building this team around Muka. I don't want to trade Wuka. We're going to try to win with Luca. We're going to maybe try to develop Ronnie. I might try to trade Dolson and connect this off seasonason, but in 2K he's all right.

[00:01:22]Marcus Smart was obviously great for this team last year. I guess he opted in. Mi opted in. Um, Ruie is a free agent. Rui was really good for the Lakers this past season. So, letting him walk is going to be tough. Aiden, I guess it's still TBD. So, we're keeping JJ Reic as our head coach, who I think has done a phenomenal job in his first two years with the Lakers. He's won 50 games. It's the most pressured market coaching the most pressured star in LeBron James. So, you're always going to be under the microscope. And they have Lucadic and I think he's overperformed with the talent they've had. I've always like reached maybe on a center with the 25th overall pick. I don't have to take one. I'll scout out a Demora and Jaden Quaidens and Chris Anak. It's not the end of the world if we don't land one.

[00:02:01]Same with Native Men because I'm going to need wings at the end of the day. I mean, I'm not getting a Debonsa. I wouldn't mind Cam Carr who was obviously a standout at the combine if Braden Bur is I mean he's that's not really realistic. Braden Bur is going to be a water pick. Tony Yu we could look at and then I have about three more of these.

[00:02:15]Like I don't mind taking a good point guard because it's a good point guard class. a little scout out uh probably Bennett Sts maybe Tyler Tanner um and definitely Christian Anderson who I think could be there at least in real life. So let's go to the NBA draft where I don't think I'm going to find anybody to take the Vandal contract. I think Whoa, Camboozer won. I think the thing I'm going to try to do as AJ's going to go three. Yeah. is that I'm going to use this as like a I don't know like we got to tell Luca this is going to be not a gap year but I don't think we're going to win it all this year but we're going to try to have open cap space for 2027 to bring in Giannis or Joic to play with Luca. I think that's our best case scenario to try to go up and toe to toe is what thought Anderson was going to be there at 25. He goes to seven or at seven. Okay. Hawks are trading the eighth pick for Bobby Poris and AJ Green. Don't think I would have done that. Atlanta as Ken Wagler goes to the Bucks and they're going to have the 10th overall pick. Dallas is trading nine and Caleb Martin for Jiren Jackson Jr. I mean for Utah. Why not? Uh they take Lopez. I don't know. Darius Auff goes to Milwaukee. So in a cuff while we're back where it's kind of sick. I hope that means Giannis isn't going to resign. And I'm going to take Cam Carr here at 25. I think he goes earlier than 25 for sure.

[00:03:23]But I think before the combine definitely mocked in this range of 25. I will take that. And this team just has no second round draft capital. They moved it over the years. They traded a second rounder and gave Vincent to get Luke Canard. But I'm very happy with Cam Carr. So Aiden opts out. Don't hate that. Picking up the team option on Bronny. I still want to bring back Reeves. I just want to make it where he's going to be good enough next year so I could potentially trade him in the 27 offseason. I think that's going to be the goal. LeBron, I mean, we'll see what happens with LeBron. Um, I could give him a one-year send off. Uh, Reeves has a real offer from the Pistons. Now, this would be an insane pickup. Like a Reeves for Jaylen Duran signing trade. It's been talked about before. I mean, I could give Jaylen Duran $30 million a year right now. I mean, that is a great center to have with Luca. I don't even know who would say yes to that. A Reeves for Duran trade because Duran's at least a sure thing. I mean, I could sign Duran and Austin Reeves theoretically if the Pistons don't want to match this. H, but I would have to renounce the right to LeBron, which okay, I would sign Duran.

[00:04:26]I would sign Reeves. I guess that would definitely limit my chances at getting Giannis, which I just said I was going to do. H I guess we're gonna force the Pistons hand. Let's give him this. Um it can be flat. Um I think that's going to be his number one offer. I would assume the Bolts gave him Yeah, we are out bidding. Like we have to make sure we can out bid these teams. I mean, in real life, that might be a little bit of an overpay. Or do I just go after Hardenstein?

[00:04:52]H who's going to cost me a lot less? I mean, I can maybe offer Walker Kesler a deal, but I just don't know if they're gonna match it. That's the issue. I don't really want to run the whole Nerkage thing. I mean, they traded for Mark Williams once, but he's also restricted. I mean, LeBron, I can't really even think about right now cuz he's older. I mean, I could try to overpay for Peter Watson, but we got to at least offer Reeves a thing. So, his best deal is 4 years 88. Let's give him four years um at least 100. So, like I know he'll accept this deal and yeah, we're going to do that. Uh, it's by far his top offer. And then if I think I should have enough, yeah, for him and Duran. That's if the Pistons match it. I mean, we could try to move Vabia, which I think is definitely possible, andor connect andor Marcus Smart. I just wish this team had some draft capital to move. Um, because I would love to like try to package away some of these guys for a good enough young player, but I don't think these teams are going to take it because I'm not really offering anything of substance. All right, so I think I'm actually going to try to trade away Jacob Rabia to the Nets. I don't think I'm going to get a first round pick, but the Nets don't own their first round pick directly next year. They're trying to win. Could I get three second rounders for Jake Arabia's expiring 6 million? Bang. There we go. So, we're not done yet. We know that the Jazz want to be good this year. I don't want to take on the John Kinchard contract, but would you give me um Bryce Sensible, 22 years old, but is in the last year of his rookie contract, and they drafted what, Peterson. So, I'm going to offer Marcus Smart, who was good for us last year, but we're going to try to trade away Marcus Smart and those three second rounders we just got from Brooklyn and Smart for Bryce Sensible. Damn, you guys are going to say no. I mean, I could throw in a Doro, but I don't love that.

Like, Quo we can bring back on the minimum. I don't have to worry about Ruie yet. I'm not worrying about LeBron. So, the game just gave me Duran and Reeves. We're about to find out if they match it. So, yeah, maybe move over Giannis. We're going to renounce the rights on Aiden and Hayes. We're going to renounce the rights on Smith, Mannon, and Timmy. Um, we're going to renounce it on LeBron. And let's see if we snag him. There we go. 3 years, 25 million. So, right now on the roster, let's see how many guys we have.

I feel like I got to bring back LeBron in some way, shape, or form. Uh, like, is he really going to take 50 million? I think a realistic thing for LeBron, I'll give him like $30 million. So, I'm going to edit that contract. I think that's realistic. I mean, if LeBron still wants to play in LA, it's got to be insane if he's going to play for $50 million. Like, you were just going to hamster yourself so much.

You're just going to help us against the tax. You're still getting paid $30 million in your age 42 season, but you got to at least help me out a little bit here. So, that's our case, and now we're pretty much limited on some of these other deals. I think what a huge underrated pickup would be would be Chris Dunn if we could snag him.

Obviously, Vando turns into an expiry next offseason. I'm sure I can attach some type of draft capital to get off him. I actually have to release somebody before the year starts. It's going to be Lonzo Ball. I think I'm going to keep Middleton just in case. Like, we have a bunch of different injuries. You never know with Luca, Reeves, LeBron. They've all kind of been banged up over the last few years. I mean, if LeBron wants to keep playing, sure. But right now, it's going to go Luca, Reeves. I think we go LeBron at the three, Ruie at the four, or vice versa, and then Dur at the five.

I want to see what he can do.

I was maybe overt taxing Bukinard just a little bit in that rotation. So let's get him in there. Uh Chris Dunn has been cold lately, but I think this is a beautiful Marcus Smart replacement. Dron Sharp low key been a pretty good backup big. Jaylen Darren is banged up right now, but he's giving me 16 and 14 a night. I do think like I don't know. Ruby shooting the ball well.

I don't know if I'm going to try to get a first rounder. We'll see. But yeah, let's go to the 2027 draft and let's see. Do we want to make any trades? Luca is playing under the last year of his deal. I mean, Reeves and Duran are intriguing trade candidates. I would love to maybe get off of the Vando contract. I don't think one second will get it done. Maybe I I would have to trade away a like could I trade Vando in a first for a solid player? Um or like a pick in this draft like a late firstrounder and they're taking the bet that that's going to be a pretty good pick in 2031. I would actually like to save that $12 million.

I trust Muscleman a little bit less than Dan Erlene producing another firstrounder. So, one current Husky, one former Husky. No, we're not doing that. Um H. So, we do lose LeBron. We could bring in Demar Rosen. We could bring in Michael Porter Jr. don't really love a lot of those options here. I do wonder what Delta Connect's trade value would look like. All right, so I'm going to trade Daltto Connect to the Bulls for four second round picks. That's going to free up about $6 million in cap space.

The thing I don't like is like I could I mean, Joic might go back to Denver. Giannis may go back or no, it looks like he might leave because he's preferring the Warriors and the Nets offer. I mean, Giannis would be the home run guy. I feel like I would want to keep Reeves if I'm getting Giannis and Durn would be the guy to move, but like oh man, like am I salary dumb Jaylen Durn? Like it's so risky. So, we have about $5 million in cap space. Even if I move Durn, that's 35 million. Yeah, I'd have to move I'd have to move Reeves and Durn if I wanted Giannis, which is nice, but like I'm losing so much rotation. Like I don't know.
