The speakers provide a necessary diplomatic framework by prioritizing shared identity over the self-defeating cycle of ethnic violence. This call for unity is a pragmatic step toward regional stability, though its success hinges on addressing the underlying political grievances.

MIZORAM REACTS TO KUKI/MIZO - TANGKHUL CONFLICT | Pu. Lalbiakzama | Pu. Hriata Chhangte本站添加:
We have certain limitations politically.
We cannot be involved or nor can we raise our voice. There are reservations that we have to maintain as a government. But at this point, I would like to say that in any parts of Manipur, if our brethren and sisters are tortured and atrocities takes place, the big brother cannot just watch the younger brothers being tortured with the folded hands. So, we should all coexist. We should live in peace. We should live in harmony.
So, I appeal to all to do away with the violence.
>> [music] >> Hello and welcome back to the PP [music] Show. Today, I'm here with Pu Zaw Na, the honorable speaker of the Mizoram >> [music] >> State Legislative Assembly.
Um today, I would like to uh make this show uh you know, show very short [music] and um impactful. Let's talk about the the Manipur crisis, right? It's been uh prolonged for more than 3 years now. At first, it started with the cookies and the Meiteis and now it has become cookies and uh Tankhuls in Ukhrul district, right? So, um we can see that uh this situation is happening between the two Christian tribals. As the honorable speaker of Mizoram State Legislative Assembly, uh we say that the cookies and the Meiteis are one. We are one. We are brothers. So, when your younger brothers are facing atrocities from their fellow Christian tribals, uh what do you have to say? What's your observation on this?
Yeah, see, uh you are very right in saying that we are all the same community, I should say. Mhm. Uh this is all ethnic community. The name could be different. Could be Kuki, could be Mizo.
You call it a Gangte, Vaiphei, Paite, whatever. Mhm. But we all are one community.
That is the first point that I would like to emphasize.
And secondly, yes, we've been singing the news, we've been hearing about the unrest, the disturbances in Manipur.
I would call for a peace among all communities.
That we all live together peacefully, understand each other, embrace each other with understanding.
In a war or in any conflict, there are no winners.
All suffers, and there are no heroes there.
My honest request is that we do away with all these conflicts and disturbances and come come to a point where we all live together peacefully and raise our voice in a in a single voice so that we don't hurt each other.
And secondly, I would also say that uh we have certain limitations politically.
We we cannot be involved nor can we raise our voice.
There are reservations that we have to maintain as a government.
But at this point I would like to say that in any parts of Manipur, if our brethren and sisters are tortured and atrocities takes place, the big brother cannot just watch the younger brothers being tortured with a folded hands.
So, we should all coexist, we should live in peace, should live in harmony.
So, I appeal to all to do away with the violence.
>> [snorts] >> Uh the Tangkhuls are from Manipur. And in this conflict, I must say in this regard, uh the Tangkhuls, what they are doing is they're attacking the Kukis, all right? And like you said, when your people are attacked, you cannot watch them with folded hands. Obviously, you will try every means to protect your people, your land, your ancestral land, right? So, when the Kukis retaliate or defend their people, they're urging the Nagaland Nagas to to get involved. And that is very unethical, I must say. You provoke something, and when the people retaliate, you take the help of other people again. So, what's your opinion on this? What do you have to say on this?
Like I said, we should all do try and do away with the violence, number one.
And number two is that those who instigated those kind of violence uh should be condemned. Mhm. And thirdly, to to bring in other parties into the conflict is totally uncalled for.
So, this is something undesirable. And I I should be condemned. Mhm. That is my straightforward opinion.
I I would like to take an opportunity to add to my speakers what we call messages.
That basically all fighting, killing each other with guns or with those, can be stopped at the on the table level.
So, when we are fighting, it really indicates that we have not talked to each other enough.
So, it's so much of a tribal characteristic to try to, you know, expand the fire of fighting. So, we should try to contain Naga side, Mizo side, Kuki you be here. We are all Christians. We believe in peace.
So, peace is good. Peace is romantic.
Fighting is not romantic.
Okay, so in this in this world so life, you never know when we are going to kick the bucket.
Maybe one more year, 5 years, 20 years.
When we live in this earth, let's live as good believers.
God the creator wanted us to help each other, not to kill each other. I'm talking to them as Christians or tribe I mean tribal people. Okay? So, my whole appeal on >> [laughter] >> on my personal behalf and on behalf of the people of Mizoram at large is that let us think over.
In this movement, in this fighting, nobody is getting benefit out of that.
It's only that the few vested interest people at the top who are earning out of this at the cost of the public people suffering at large.
We should condemn it by any means.
Should not let this fight to expand again future. No more. Okay?
So, I think the whoever are involved in this fighting will come to proper senses. Because the the whole world the whole India, the whole people around us are laughing at us.
So, why we make a laughing stock for others?
You know? So, there is no romance involved. There we want to be romantic.
Mizos, we are very romantic. That's what I said. Once upon a time when people ask me, "Why do you stop Mizoram independent movement 20 years?" I said, "Ultimately we found it there's no there's no profit we fight that he needs me." There was no romance involved. So, we decided, "Okay, enough is enough."
I think it's time to call for enough is enough.
Recently, a seminar was conducted by the MIC, the Mizo Integration Council. And in that seminar, the focal point was that our you know, our people should stand united. Obviously, united we stand and divided we fall. What I could see personally from my personal perspective or point of view is that our people are, you know, not united. There are so many elements that is hampering our unity.
And at this juncture, MIC coming up with this kind of, you know, seminars and then, you know, calling for unity is something need of the hour, I must say.
So, being the speaker of the Mizoram state legislative assembly, what's your opinion on this again?
Personally, I really appreciate and endorse the initiatives taken by the Mizo uh Integration Council which strives to bring together the Mizo ethnic uh tribes who are living in different parts of the country and who by name may be called differently, but uh all come under one umbrella.
And this is how we should uh proceed ahead. In the Bible, we see that if brothers fight among each other, how can they survive?
So, we should all stand united. We should all coexist.
And with an understanding with a with a with a sense of brotherhood among ourselves.
So, we all should stand united. We should also have our minds, our thoughts in line with the Mizo Integration Council. And I would appeal to all that we do away with the violence.
>> [snorts] >> Let us all live together peacefully with a sense of understanding and stop the violence. There should be a forum where we all bring together our issues try to solve it and find a mechanism in which this can be worked out.
So, [snorts] the Mizoram Integration Council is the answer. So, let us all abide by the steps taken by the Mizoram Integration Council. And once again, I implore all to stop killing, violence, and let us all live peacefully and with a love with a sense of brotherhood among ourselves. Thank you.
Bye.
