So, over the last few years, we have seen Disney drastically change its strategy towards its international originals. It has been investing a lot of money in shows in Korea, Europe, Latin America, and also in Japan. And that looks to be continuing because Disney has announced it signed a new multi-year deal with the 7 to produce and co-develop a number of shows for Disney Plus around the world from Japan. We'll see the two companies jointly develop um Japanese language shows for Disney Plus with an aim to create a bold, emotional resonant stories from Japan for Disney Plus around the world. Carol Choi, who is the executive vice president of the original content strategy for Disney in the Asia Pacific and Australia region, said in a statement regarding the deal, "What excites us the most is the opportunity to create even more closely with Japan's vibrant creative community to develop stories that capture the country's unique voice and imagination. Since the launch of Disney Plus in Japan, general entertainment and local originals have become an increasingly important part of our content offering, making this collaboration a natural evolution in accelerating our content investment. It builds on the strong relationships we've developed over time and represents a meaningful step forward in deepening our storytelling roots in Japan where local content alongside our global franchises continue to resonate with audiences."

[00:01:29]The president and CEO of the 7 also said this collaboration is a vital step to reinforcing our unwavering commitment to continuously creating innovative content from Japan that captivates the world. It is an honor to enter into this historic deal with Disney, a company that brings diverse stories to every corner of the globe. I am confident that by unleashing the refined creativity of the 7 through Disney's extensive network and expertise, we can evolve Japanese stories into the next craze that people truly fall in love with. We will continue to transcend borders and language barriers in the pursuit of authentic and innovative works that remain etched in the hearts of viewers forever. Please look forward to the moment when Japanese content creation reaches a new height." So, the 7 are behind some of the major shows such as Alice in Borderland's and Yu Yu Hakusho.

[00:02:15]And they obviously are going to be a big thing I think for Disney Plus in terms of creating brand new original content that not just appeals to the Japanese market cuz that's the main thing they're doing this for is to get more and more subscribers in Japan.

[00:02:30]And they need that local content. This is why they do invest in a lot of content around the world. But also more importantly, reaching a bigger audience.

[00:02:36]Japanese content is very, very popular.

[00:02:38]Anime especially. Anime just continues to grow and grow. And Disney have really recognized that and are investing more money in that kind of content. But also by this by doing a deal with the 7, looking to kind of maybe extend not just to anime but also live action. And I'm not surprised, you know, we have seen some big successes over the years. We've seen Shogun, a massive success. They're currently producing the second season now. One of my favorite shows that Disney's put out. We've also seen other shows such as Gannibal. And as I said, the anime stuff is just killing it. And that's just going to continue to grow.

[00:03:10]We've seen Star Wars branching out into doing anime content. And I really feel like Japanese content has a a unique place. There's a lot of um people um looking forward to seeing more of it. Um I've got a trip that I'm planning on going to see uh Japan next year. Um yeah, there's just a lot of interest in this right now. And I think this one's going to be a really big move forward.

[00:03:31]And I do think as well Disney creating more content globally is a good thing.

[00:03:36]More choice, more variety, and that's what I want to see. I don't just want to just see the same old stories just being churned out. I want something different.

[00:03:44]And I think this deal does definitely sounds out to be a good thing that could be a major step forward for the company.
