[00:04:53]>> About six months ago, I got fired from a job. I was managing a medical office and um even though I know some things are just not a good fix, I'm an office manager. I have been for many years and I understand when you just have to let someone go cuz it's just not vibing.

[00:05:25]>> Um but it's taken me a long time to kind of get over it because it's like really the first time I've ever been fired and I didn't feel like it was because I had done something wrong. It truly probably was just not a good fit, but it really hurt.

[00:05:40]Just um I don't really want to say my ego, but it was just like making me question my personality. I was like, "Am I just the most annoying person on the planet? Like, why cuz I felt like I didn't win the popularity contest and that's ultimately why I was let go.

[00:05:55]>> So, she understands that she had to let people go for not vibing.

[00:05:59]Vibing, that's a thing that you get get fired for, apparently.

[00:06:03]But, when she gets let go for not vibing, uh how the turntables.

[00:06:10]>> It is what it is. I am very happy now, but last night I had this dream that I was at some type of office back in that same job and there was just like all these people multiplying and multiplying and I was like, wait, I don't even know who these people are and they knew me and they didn't like me. And then, as I was like cleaning out the office, I found this piece of paper that had they were having a meeting without me and it listed my name, Tammy, and then it had all these different reasons why they wanted to discuss me and why they didn't like me and I just think it's so funny.

[00:06:41]Like, it's so silly and so stupid because obviously this job that was not my life. It wasn't my life's goal. It wasn't going to take me closer to my goals at all. But, it's just so funny how some of those things just linger and um they kind of end up like popping back into your brain. And I think the reason why it popped into my brain for yesterday's dream was because I'm with family members who didn't know the whole story.

[00:07:04]They don't know what happened. I don't even think I told them because it's just not a big deal to me anymore.

[00:07:13]>> Like, if you would have asked me within the first, you know, 60 to 90 days after it happened, I would have told you every single thing, but now I'm just like, ah, not a big deal. But, I think it's so funny how these things stay in your head and how it just brings shame. I guess that's the the word. Is it just feel shameful that you're like, wow, I really gave that my all and it just either wasn't good enough or it just wasn't the best fit.

[00:07:36]>> So, this was how long ago and she's still having dreams about it. But, it wasn't her whole life and she understands when you have to let somebody go for not vibing. Unless it's her, then okay.

[00:07:49]>> So, guess I'm still getting over it.

[00:07:51]>> My coworker just got fired for literally the pettiest reason, and I have the whole thing on recording. So, she just got terminated, and I'm actually scared for us all now. This girl was literally one of the top performers on our team, consistently hit her metrics, never caused any problems. Last month, she puts in a PTO request for her sister's wedding. 3 weeks notice, and the manager approves it in the system. So, she like books her flight, she books her hotels, nothing is refundable. 2 days 2 days before she's supposed to leave, her manager messages her on Teams and is like, "Hey, I know you have PTO, but we really need you for this client presentation. Can you push your trip?"

[00:08:31]She's like, "No, I can't. It's my sister's wedding. Everything is booked."

[00:08:35]He goes, "Well, this is a really important client, and I need you to be a team player here." She stands firm. She says, "No, I'm taking my approved PTO."

[00:08:45]Well, he doesn't respond. So, she goes on her trip.

[00:08:49]Comes back on Monday, gets a call from HR, and they're saying she abandoned her responsibilities, showed a lack of commitment to the team.

[00:09:01]She's like, "What are you talking about?

[00:09:02]My PTO was approved a month ago." If I was her, I would literally be losing my mind. And they go, "Well, your manager expressed concerns about your dedication, and we've decided to let you go."

[00:09:15]>> This is how companies get sued.

[00:09:17]>> She asked to see the documentation, and they can't produce anything. No written warnings, no performance issues on file, literally nothing. Just her manager's word. And she pulls out her phone, and she goes, "Actually, I have a recording of the the Teams conversation where he approved my PTO and tried to guilt me into canceling. It's all right here on Playbacks.

[00:09:43]HR's face went white. And so then they said that they'll look into this and ended the meeting.

[00:09:51]That was 4 days ago. Nobody's heard anything since. She's actually talking to a lawyer right now. But moral of the story, they will absolutely try to gaslight you.

[00:10:03]Wrongful termination attorney. I don't think you even have to have your attorney degree to do this kind of work.

[00:10:10]I mean, it's so blatantly obvious. I mean, if you have all the transcripts, it's kind of just an open and shut thing, I would think. There you go.

[00:10:50]>> No, that wasn't my project. That was Katie's and I have a recording on Smart Note that shows you assigning the project to her.

[00:10:57]>> Yeah, I remember assigning it to you specifically. I don't remember assigning it to Katie. Sometimes you need to accept responsibilities.

[00:11:05]>> Well, can I send you the recording or the transcript to show you that it was assigned to her?

[00:11:08]>> You can do that right now, but I don't remember that being the case. I do see that it was assigned to Katie and um >> So where's the apology? Where's the accountability? Where's the, you know, I screwed up. I'm sorry. I was wrong. My bad.

[00:11:25]>> Next time you are not assigned a project and you're being let go, you need to let me know in advance so I don't leave these, you know, I don't inform HR and I go out of my way. It's been really stressful on me.

[00:12:02]>> Well, I'm only going to be gone for 2 days next week. So, I can take I can mean I can reschedule my meetings to Wednesday or Thursday, if that's helpful.

[00:12:09]>> No, that's not helpful because they're only in town during those days and you're really big part of this team. We need everyone there, everyone accounted for, so we're going to like I'm not really asking you. I'm just like revoking your PTO that I approved. I don't really care if I approved it.

[00:12:27]>> Okay, well, you approved my PTO like a month ago, so you shouldn't have scheduled these big meetings and had them thrown out here, if you know I wasn't going to be here, if you needed me here.

[00:12:37]>> You know, I can totally see unions coming back and gaining in popularity with jobs like this. Normally Normally unions are, you know, your steel workers, your auto workers, that sort of thing, but work from home?

[00:12:49]Yeah, I can see unions becoming more popular with uh the work from home crew.

So, I'm just going to send this over to HR and you can talk to them about it because this is So, today I got fired for something that I didn't even do. And the fact that I have the proof to prove it is enough for me to go to HR with.

[00:13:42]So, my boss decided to tell me that I up and I didn't make the meeting deadline. When actually, I did have everything in by Friday, which is today, but she told me that it was supposed to be in on Thursday, which is not true.

[00:13:53]So, I ended up taking the Fireflies AI notes. I found the whole recent meeting.

[00:13:58]I found where she told me that I had to have this done by Friday. She said it herself. But, she still decided to fire me because she didn't know that I had these notes. This shit's about to go to HR and it's going to be a thing. Cuz why would you not even give me a chance to explain it?

[00:14:13]>> So, you're yeah, payroll messed up and they gave your bonus to someone else and you did not get one.

[00:14:20]>> Okay. So, when is this going to be like fixed? Like when will I get my bonus then?

[00:14:26]>> There's nothing we can do once payments have been processed and sent out. So, unfortunately, >> That's not true.

[00:15:05]>> It's just if things happen, we can't control >> I don't really know what to say and this is like literally so appalling. I like I'm honestly at the point where I think I'm just going to put in my notice right now.

[00:15:25]>> Because my work day starts at 9:00.

[00:15:32]>> No. Um I work at 9:00. It's scheduled in my contract, and I have stuff to do before work. Like this morning I was in a workout class, so I don't would not be clocking in 2 hours early.

[00:15:48]>> Um I did, and that's why I'm scheduled to work 9:00 to 5:00, not whenever my boss wakes up.

[00:15:54]>> Okay. Well, if you don't want to overachieve and contribute to our goals, I'm not sure how we'd move forward.

[00:16:00]>> Who even talks like that? What normal person speaks like that? How much Kool-Aid do you have to be drinking to believe that what you're saying is is You don't even sound like a person.

I had my meeting with HR yesterday, the one that my manager told me to look out for cuz it was probably going to be on my calendar, and I woke up, and then there it was. So let me tell you about it. I recorded it on the Playbacks app because there's no way HR is getting me sticking with this woman. So I told my manager about it, and her reaction was absolutely unhinged. So HR calls me into this random meeting and goes, "We need to talk about your communication with your manager." Also, if I'm looking to the side, it's because I'm reading the transcript that I got from the Playbacks app. And I'm sitting there like, "Okay, here we go. It's happening." HR goes, "You need to improve your communication skills. You're not being professional enough in your emails to her."

[00:17:07]And I'm genuinely confused, right? I'm like, "Can you give me an example?"

[00:17:11]Because my manager always said, "Ask for examples." HR pulls up a meeting I sent to my manager that said, "Can't make the 8:00 a.m.

[00:17:19]meeting tomorrow. I'll catch up on the recording after." And apparently that's unprofessional. And I'm sitting there like how? HR goes, "You didn't provide enough context or ask permission. You just stated you wouldn't be there."

[00:17:40]>> It's like the jobs have all turned into homeowners associations run by Karens.

[00:17:44]>> Yeah.

[00:17:46]Wow. And I go, "But my manager told us if we can't make a meeting, just let her know and watch the recording."

[00:17:54]That's literally what she said to do. HR rep looks at me and goes, "Yes, but the tone could have been seen as dismissive."

[00:18:02]Dismissive of what? It's a simple update. HR continues. They go, "We're asking you to be more collaborative and professional how you communicate upward."

[00:18:15]And I go, "Communicate with my manager the way she's asked us to communicate with her. She specifically said, 'Don't ask for permission for things that don't need permission.'" I just flung that at myself. HR goes, "Ooh."

[00:18:30]I just dropped all my apples. Hold on.

[00:18:32]Right. HR goes, "We've received feedback that your emails can come across too casual."

[00:18:38]And I'm sitting there like from who?

[00:18:42]My manager has never said anything about this and I know that woman. If I did something that she didn't like, she would communicate that. HR won't tell me who it's from, but they just say, "Moving forward, we'd like you to be more formal in your communication with leadership."

[00:18:59]The meeting ends there. And I immediately message my manager and go, "HR just told me that I'm not professional enough with you in emails."

[00:19:06]She responds in all caps, "What?" I sent her the details of the call and she goes, "I'm calling you right now she gets on the call they're saying you're not professional enough with me and like apparently my email about missing the 8 a.m. was too casual my manager goes I specifically told the team to just send me a quick note if you can't make something that's exactly what you did and I go that's what I said but they told me I need to start being more formal with leadership my manager just starts laughing right it's like leadership I'm your manager not the CEO we talk all day on slack and I'm like I know that's why I'm so confused and she goes wait who gave them this feedback because it wasn't me and I'm like HR wouldn't say and my manager goes so someone above me is monitoring your emails to me and decided you're not kissing my ass enough got it she starts cackling on the call she just says that this is the most ridiculous thing that she's ever heard and then she was like you're fine ignore them she slacked me later and she was like if you ever get a message from me saying that you're not professional enough in an email know that I've been hacked >> [laughter] >> it's like you know what love the solidarity >> yeah I can totally see unions becoming a thing in the corporate world now just to just avoid having to deal with the Karens jeez you know maybe now I'm just a little more thankful that I don't deal with any of this I don't have to deal with anything corporate I go to work I do my job I go home been doing that for a long time it's worked out pretty good like and subscribe if you want to you don't have to but it's free thumbs up is also free and I appreciate it thanks for watching see you
