How to Avoid Blood Clots After Surgery?

[00:00:00]So, things for me. I do want you walking after the surgery every 2 hours trying to get up and move around for at least 10 minutes only while you're awake. The next day you're going to feel a lot better cuz that first 6 to 12 hours can be rough, but it does get better. So, instead of walking for 10 minutes, I want you to bump it up to 30 minutes and more, okay?

[00:00:16]>> Mhm. Walking is the best way to prevent blood clots which can be deadly, but it's also going to help you recover way faster versus just laying in bed all day. The goal is to try to get you back to your routine as quick as possible.

[00:00:27]Okay. Um and walking does that. Um the biggest thing you can do to make your result better is the lymphatic massages.

[00:00:33]You want to get as many of those as you can especially in that first 6 weeks.

[00:00:37]After 6 weeks, I would still go every once in a while cuz your body's still healing for the next 8 to 12 months. So, theoretically you can make it better.

[00:00:44]It's normal to feel light-headed those first couple days. Just continue to hydrate. That's what's going to help it.

[00:00:49]I like stuff with electrolytes like Liquid I.V., Gatorade, Body Armor, Pedialyte, stuff like that. Just drink to the point where your urine is like light yellow every time you go to the restroom for the next 4 weeks. And you'll wear those compression socks for the next 4 weeks, too.

[00:01:19]Um the one What is it called? The Lymphatic massages, yeah.

[00:01:23]>> Yeah. What is that supposed to look like or feel like? It's going to be a little bit rougher than a regular massage and it's going to be like they're they're rubbing you in a certain direction. And that direction is the the direction of the lymphatic channels. To get a lot of the swelling down, get a lot of the fluid off you. So, the more aggressive you are especially within those first 2 weeks getting those, you decrease your chances of a lot of complications and it helps stimulate the skin to start snapping back, too. And you said they might be really painful.

[00:01:51]Yeah, they can be rough. [sighs] Some people actually enjoy the pain, but usually yeah, most people are like, those first two and three massages are the worst. Okay.
