Research on authoritarian followers reveals they perceive themselves as less extreme and more normal than they actually are, and when they feel marginalized or labeled as 'weird' or 'creeps,' their emotional desire to conform to the majority can reduce their extremism; therefore, showing MAGA supporters that most people don't share their views, rather than expressing outrage, creates an opening for deradicalization.

How to De-Radicalize MAGA thru Psychology #politicalpsychology追加:
There's something that MAGA people want really deep down that gives us an opening to deradicalize some of them.
I'm Keegan and I talk about the psychology of politics. Remember a couple years ago when the left was super triggering the right by calling conservatives weird? The reason that was so triggering is because it made conservatives feel unsafe and that gives us an opening. The leading researcher on authoritarian followers found that they see themselves as less extreme and more normal than they actually are and there's some motivated reasoning going on here. Being seen as weird or freaks or creeps is threatening to them because if they feel like they're a minority, they feel powerless. If the clear majority opinion in our country is that their beliefs and behaviors are creepy and weird, well, most of them will probably just be angry, but some will get the message enough to make a political difference and their emotional desire to conform to the majority will make them less extreme. So, don't show them outrage. Show them that they're creepy and weird and never let them forget that most people aren't like them. End note, I'm autistic. I'm weird.
I embrace it. I'm not trying to stigmatize being weird. I'm just telling you what will work.
