Tesla’s FSD 14.3.5 masters the mechanics of driving but fails the logic of navigation, proving that technical precision cannot yet replace common sense. It remains a sophisticated tool that still panics when faced with simple spatial dilemmas.

Tesla Full Self-Driving 14.3.5 First Impressions | Real World FSD Test
Added:Hey y'all. Welcome back to Rockco Rides Tesla. In this video, I'm going to be sharing my first impressions of the latest FSD 14.35.
I installed it last night. So, this will be my first time trying out trying it out and I'm going to compare it to the previous version which was 14.3.4 and see if I notice anything different or any improvements. So, let's go ahead and enter in the a destination. Let's go to uh lifetime and let's see here. Let's go on the highway so we can get some highway driving.
Um, drop a pin.
See if I can do that.
There we go.
That looks good. So, I have a lot of problems getting out of my neighborhood.
Let's go and we'll be on the way. So, the navigation issues still remain. Um, I need to go here, edit trip, remove my pinpoint so that we can get out of the neighborhood.
Oh, looks like we're looping around.
Whoa, that was sudden turn. I like that.
It was a last minute reaction, but I also updated the route uh at the very last minute. Some of in the previous versions it would have just kept going straight and looped around.
Let's go.
Think about this. I did this wrong.
Adjusting the route on the fly here.
I wanted to go on uh Georgia 400, which is a highway to see how it does on the interstate.
and we'll be doing parking lots, city driving, take it to a supercharger and we will see um if it can still back in my garage. The previous version I had no problem with FSD backing in my garage. That's how I was able to get a big FSD streak going.
Let's see. This looks good. Just doing some um route editing here with the way points.
Running in hurry profile. Let's drop it down to standard.
Interesting. Letting this lady go, which was very courteous.
So I can delete this route.
Only when I press done does it update.
So once we get through this next light, I will hit done and then it will recalculate and then take me on.
Oh, I hit the left turn signal to for it to get over, but I think because my destination is on the right side of the road, it's ignoring my prompt to get over.
Let me think about this.
And once we get through this light, I'm going to hit done. and then it will recalculate the route and take me up the highway to my destination.
So, I let this Lexus in in front of me.
Maybe that's something it wouldn't have done. Um, and then it reacted very quickly when I did a a route recalculation in my neighborhood. So, I'm going to hit done now. And now it's going to reroute. It should reroute to the highway.
Yep, there we go.
Something I noticed on the previous versions that it would do on on 14.3.4 is that it would do some break some wheel shaking, especially when it was um indecisive on which lane to select in a turn lane like this. If this had two lanes, it would sometimes do a wheel shake or when it was uh crossing uh like on an unprotected turn, it would sometimes do it as well.
But seems so far so good.
Let me know if you all have heard of any regressions or problems with this version. Uh I mean, I'm fairly very early into this trip. We've gone only 1.2 miles. So, not a lot of a sample size yet.
Now, we are emerging onto the highway on 400 north from exit 9 heading up to exit 11.
There's a nice merge.
I'm comfortable with the spacing between the car in front of me and myself. Uh I've seen some people complain that the car tailgates too much. Maybe it's just that my driving style, but I think this is plenty of plenty enough of a safe distance between myself and the car in front of me.
We're not taking this exit, but the following one. So, it's already hanging out in the right lane.
We are running in the standard profile, speed profile.
See if we have any traffic merging uh onto the highway ahead and how it manages that because we need to take the next exit.
Doing 70 and a 65. Uh, if I recall, it was doing about 72 in standard uh and a 65 on 14.3.4, but maybe that's just because our exit is coming up. So, not sure if that if they pulled back on the speed or not.
Yeah, I think this is a very comfortable distance between the car in front of us.
Also, on the previous version 14.3.4, some of the times when it did the parking itself, it wasn't that centered in the parking space. Also had issues with how it parked at superchargers. It would either not park in a parking spot at all because the lines weren't painted that well or various reasons. So, we'll be we'll see how it does in a supercharger after we go to this stop.
But yeah, that was good on and off the interstate. Um I'll be back with you as we pull into the parking lot of our first stop here.
Here we are about [clears throat] to turn in the parking lot. So, let's see how it does and where it decides to park. Let's go over here to the work one.
It's going to take us on the back side of the parking lot.
I'm looking to see if he can do the to park in one go. I might not have to readjust.
See how it lines itself up.
It's funny. It says parking garage, although there is no parking garage here.
Okay, either this one or this one would work.
Okay, coming in one go.
Let's see how it did.
Slightly off center, but I think this is quite acceptable. Plenty of space for me to get out and for somebody to get in that car. Um, some space in front of us.
So, I think that is a solid park job. I approve of that. So, next stop, we will go to a super truck. Hey, back with y'all. Uh, actually, I actually just summoned my Tesla to come pick me up. I had a doctor's appointment right here and it worked beautifully. So, that was neat. Let's go over to a supercharger and see how it does because I had some issues on the last version of the FSD uh in terms of how it did backhand to the charger. It was it was parking in a non-parking spot. Uh it would park in a handicap spot. So, let's see how if this does a better job now.
Interesting. Here it's taking us into a parking garage. So, are we going to get stuck in a parking garage? Look at this.
We should have just turn turned around and left.
This is not good.
Well, what's it going to do? Take us all the way to the top and then get stuck. So, this is not good.
I Yeah, this is You say this is navigation or FSD, but not pleased with this.
It should realize that we're going up and there's no exit here. So, I am not pleased with this.
Here we are at the top of the parking garage. It's going to go all the way to the very end.
And then what's it going to do? turn around and head back out. So disappointed here.
Now it realizes there's no way out. So now we're going to go all the way back down again. You know, is this routing? Is this FSD? It doesn't matter because they're both integrated at the FSD and the navigation.
Um, they should have sort this out and use some AI, use some logic and some reasoning to know, okay, we're keep going up the parking garage or don't even go to the parking garage the first place to get out of the See, now it's correct. It should I should have done this the very first time.
We better not try to go down. We better go out the exit.
Go straight, not turn right.
Okay, finally we're pulling out of the parking garage, but only after we went all the way to the very top. So, that was disappointing. And a couple things to note uh that I experienced off camera. I was at an intersection and they had a dedicated right turn lane that was a yield and I felt a little bit of uh brake stabbing like in a hesitancy which I've experienced in the previous FSD version. And then a sec second thing to note was um I was heading home and I made a modification to my route uh but further down the route, not like exactly where I was and it almost it it did a little bit of a a wheel jerk wanting to switch lanes even though that was uncalled for. So a little overreaction, a little you know it's not pleasant when it does that.
There's no safety problems, but definitely not something that uh is a pleasant pleasant experience. So, those are three things that I did not enjoy so far. The brake stabbing, the steering wheel jerk when I modified the route, and then right there where it thought it needed to go into the parking garage to get out of here. This is the way we should have gone the entire time, and it should know better.
So, now we're heading out and we're going to head over to the Charger. It's only uh 4 minutes away.
Hey, it's a car just like mine, except I believe that was a launch series.
Other than that, um it continues on. And also, they just uh updated the Tesla app as well, the phone app. So, you get to see your FSD stats, which was uh pretty cool. They also announced that the summer update is coming uh with some nice new features as well. You can find those on X in terms of what the new features are. I already posted that. So, now we're on Old Milton Parkway and we're heading over to Avalon to go to these um kind of these urban chargers.
They're only 72 kW, but so you're not going to get the high power superchargers. They're uh what would I call a 72 kW charger? What would be a good name for that?
It's super as fast.
Little That wasn't a very smooth creep right there either.
So, still feeling some things that need to be polished out. Would I say it's a regression? I don't know about that, but I haven't seen anything that is an improvement from uh the previous version so far. We'll see how this uh supercharge park job goes. I'm going to park and then I'm going to see uh make sure I can reach I can reach the cable to the charge port and that plugs in everything. And then uh I will show you how the car uh handles backing into my garage cuz that I haven't had any problems with that with the previous uh FSD version. So stick with us. Uh we'll be at the supercharger shortly and I'll show you how that works.
We have made our way into the Avalon mixeduse development and should be pulling up to the charger uh momentarily.
We'll see how it does here. This is a very popular mixeduse development.
Superchargers are up here on the left.
Let's see how we do.
Hopefully this uh linen delivery truck does not block us.
They've updated this. So now you can see the open uh charging stalls which is pretty cool.
Of course he parks right here.
So we need to go down to the end ideally.
And that is exactly what we are doing.
Here comes the part job.
Let's see how it does.
It's going to park. Let's see if we can charge cable reaches.
These also take longer and start charging.
Long time is usually about 6 seconds on the on the the big superchargers.
And we're charging. So, see how we are. Almost tripped on that.
Woo. That would have been bad, y'all.
So, decent part job.
Didn't hit the curb, which is good.
So, now we will head home and I will show you all how the car handles uh backing into the garage.
Okay, so here comes the back end. I have parking lot selected because I don't really have much of a driveway in this town home. With the previous FSD version, it always nailed this. There's a little bump going up into the slab of my driveway. So, typically I have to give it a little bit of g acceleration to get over it. So, just tapping the accelerator a little bit, pulling back a little more. Then I let off the accelerator and it stops. So, just like the previous version, uh that was a success. And that will wrap up this first impressions and review of FSD.
Let's see here. Software 14.3.5. So, a few mishaps for sure, but uh nothing that caused me to take over.
Although most people would probably take over when the car goes into the parking garage, but it handled the supercharger.
Um handled parking in my garage and then a few brake stabs, one brake stab, and one steering wheel jerk. So, nothing really stood out to me as a a major improvement. And that is my impression review of the video. Love to hear what y'all's experience has been with this version of FSD, if you've received it yet, or if you have any questions, please leave in the comments below. And be sure to give a thumbs up of this video if you enjoyed it. Until I talk to you'all next time.
