[00:00:00]Gender-based violence continues to pose a major threat in Nairobi's informal settlements with young girls emerging as the most affected victims. According to a report by Shining Hope for Communities SHOFCO, more than 18 cases have been successfully prosecuted between February and April this year even as over 3,000 cases were reported during the same period. The report further indicates that more than 500 sexual violence cases were recorded while 200 remain pending in court. SHOFCO officials say 60% of the reported cases were flagged by community leaders in the informal settlements and are now calling on relevant authorities in collaboration with law enforcers to take firm action to curb violence against young girls.
