COPD is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and it encompasses emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Since it encompasses both diseases, symptoms can vary widely from case to case. While some people may have the symptoms that closely relate to emphysema, on the other spectrum, others can have symptoms that relate more closely to chronic bronchitis. Overall, symptoms of COPD include shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing, as well as coughing. So, the cough can produce mucus or it cannot produce mucus. Sometimes it's a dry cough. Those with COPD will also notice that they're limited in the activities that they used to be able to do. Um, they get more short of breath more easily, as well as they fatigue more easily.
