In UK property transactions, renegotiating after a survey is only fair when the survey reveals hidden defects that were not visually obvious during the initial viewing; if issues like dated kitchens or cosmetic problems were apparent when the offer was made, renegotiating based on survey confirmation is unfair and can derail the deal, whereas both parties should remain flexible and reasonable when encountering genuinely unexpected structural or safety concerns discovered through professional surveying.

Should You Renegotiate After a House Survey? UK Buyers Need to Hear This追加:
I always had kind of a rule that if something was visually obvious at the point of making the offer, that doesn't then mean that I don't feel like a bike and I can renegotiate later down the line because of it. Let's say the kitchen was dated, right? And they viewed it on the basis that it's got a dated kitchen. They have a survey done.
Survey says it needs a new kitchen.
That's not fair to renegotiate. And a lot of these things are fairness ultimately as well, right? Cuz also principles can take over. They can derail deals worse than any kind of survey. When it is detectable, as like Steph said, when there's a survey and there's something that wasn't visually obvious at the time the offer, seller and buyer need to be reasonable and flexible to overcome them hurdles because it probably cost them both a lot more time and money to start again.
