The internet has fundamentally shifted from rewarding intelligence and creativity to rewarding extremity, outrage, and controversial behavior, creating a dangerous cycle where online personalities perform for attention and audiences consume outrage as entertainment, ultimately leading to real-world consequences when internet drama bleeds into actual life.

“The Internet Created This Monster”Añadido:
Look what we got here.
Shame.
Get a white one.
>> [laughter] >> Ruining his jeans like that is that's insane. At some point the internet stopped rewarding intelligence and started rewarding um extremity. The louder somebody becomes, the more offensive they become, the more reckless they become, the more attention they get. That's just the reward now. And honestly, the Chud the Builder situation might be one of the clearest examples of that. Because the conversation is bigger than just one racist streamer.
This is about what the internet culture is becoming or unfortunately already became.
Years ago creators competed through creativity, humor, or originality. Now, a lot of the internet culture runs on outrage. I mean, think about it. Look at some of the people that are triggering on the internet. Anger performs, conflict performs, humiliation performs. And once creators realize controversy brings views, the line keeps moving further and further. And we're continuing to see that being pushed. You heard me, [ __ ] [ __ ] you.
Chud the Builder was arrested for refusing to pay a $372 restaurant bill with bail set at $100,000.
That day, while dining at a restaurant on Broadway in Nashville, the staff asked him to stop live streaming and maintain order. However, not only did he refuse to cooperate, but he also refused to pay the bill, caused a commotion, and made allegedly discriminatory remarks leading to chaos at the scene. After police intervened, they took him into custody and charged him with three counts: disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and theft of services.
Currently, his bail has been set at $100,000, and the case is still under further investigation. Chud the Builder is known for his street live streams and provocative behavior and has been banned from platforms multiple times in the past for controversial remarks and actions. The guy recently we saw Chud the Builder who you've been coming to his defense. I love Chud. Free Chud the Builder. He's now facing uh attempted murder charges.
>> He'll beat it. I have a right to shoot you if you attack me for saying You can't hit me for saying You don't think that what he's doing is provoking people to get pissed off cuz if you use racial slurs to somebody, you are going to face consequences and you're probably going to piss somebody off. Uh it it's it it's tough.
It it really is tough. A lot of people online no longer consume outrage as information. That's what it used to be about. Something you stood for. They they consume it as entertainment now.
People wait for somebody to say something wild, somebody to crash out, somebody to get exposed and eventually creators start performing for that audience.
I mean you see it. You see the Charleston Whites, you see the Antoine Daniels. You see these names out there.
And and you know, that's just what it is. And it's not because they necessarily believe every extreme thing they say, but because extremity becomes profitable.
I know there's some mixed opinions on Chud the Builder, but regardless of how you feel about his methods, we have to support our people and our right to defend ourselves. One and a quarter million bond is literally a targeted attack and a threat against all of us.
They're blatantly stating that if you use your freedom of speech in the wrong way, your life and your rights will be taken from you at the first opportunity.
For anyone unfamiliar, Chud shot this black eye who was attacking him and he lived. The exact same court that just slapped Chud with the one and a quarter million bond gave this black man who actually murdered someone completely unprovoked $250,000 bond. Of course, we know Carmelo Anthony who murdered Austin Metcalfe in cold blood and also got 250,000 dollar bond. He's been just living the high life with all the money that was raised to reward him for killing a white person by the way. This is Valerie Schwab, a 16-year-old honor student who was stabbed to death and her murderers were given 5 years probation.
The men who killed 17-year-old Ethan Liming got only 6 months and 18 months in prison and then one of them went on to murder another white person. This of course is the man who stabbed Irena He's currently in a mental institution and was let out 17 times before that attack. There are a million examples like this. It's 100% a two-tier injustice system. They want nothing more than to make an example out of us if we even try to defend ourselves. So, support our people.
At some point online personalities stop being regular people. They become internet characters. Charleston White is one of the only ones that will actually admit that.
And audiences reward whoever is more disrespectful, more outrageous, more offensive, and more emotionally unstable. That creates a dangerous cycle because eventually somebody starts believing their own internet persona.
And when real-world criminal allegations start entering the picture, that's when the conversation stops being internet drama.
Now, we're talking about real-world consequences, y'all. And that's what's happening with Chad the Builder.
But, it's also saying a lot about society. Holding people accountable matters at the end of the day, regardless of what we're doing. But, the internet crossed into a strange place a long time ago, to be honest. In my opinion, like probably at least a decade ago. Because some people online don't want to just they don't they don't just want accountability anymore. Again, we're glued to these screens.
They want destruction, humiliation, public execution, permanent branding, and honestly, that says something about the audience, too. Not taking a shot at y'all. I appreciate y'all watching, but it does say something about the audience. The scary part is social media platforms profit from outrage. The more emotional the chaos becomes, the more engagement it creates. And eventually outrage stops feeling like reality. It starts feeling like sport.
Straight up.
Um the This is This is bigger than one creator.
This is a society issue.
Um this is about what kind of culture we reward. What kind of behavior gets amplified? What happens when internet outrage stops feeling like entertainment and it starts bleeding in the real life?
That's what we're seeing in real time with creators like Cheddar the Builder and things escalating with him with, you know, just harassing people. Um you've seen Charleston White being some situations. It's a lot of these internet creators, they come out, they do things, they're they're brash in what they say, they're bold, you know, they're they're they're almost antagonizing and waiting for somebody to make a move that they feel like will grant them the right to, and I say with air quotes, defend themselves.
But it it there's no line between entertainment and real life with a lot of these people.
And um we're we're in a climate right now where we really should be doing some serious evaluating. You know, we we I've covered videos where we talk about things that go on with the media with how the media paints a perception, but what is the audience saying when people like Chad the Builder are getting rewarded?
Now, you got to understand, although he's locked up, he's doing everything to get out so he can continue his antics. But, make no mistake, that GoFundMe or whatever he had to get his bail, they raised the money. So, that says something about our culture in this country as far as in race because all he has done is harass and antagonize black American citizens.
You know, he's not going for somebody specific. He's going to random people that are minding their business and harassing them. And to make matters worse, the people that are justifying his behavior, they'll mildly address the fact that his methods aren't the best, but then they'll go off into tangents and talk about, "Well, what if this What about this person over here? Or what about Carmelo Anthony over here?" And all these other people. No, this is an isolated Chad the Builder situation. All these people that you guys bring up, you guys don't understand that that is totally different. This dude is going around and bothering people that don't know him or that don't have any intention on dealing with him and trying to antagonize and provoke some form of violence or continue some kind of bigotry.
So, that's my take on it.
Like I said, this is about what kind of culture we reward. What kind of behavior gets amplified? And what happens when the internet outrage stops feeling like entertainment? That is a real question.
What happens when it stops feeling like entertainment and starts bleeding into real life?
Comment below. Do you think internet culture is creating more extreme personalities or is social media simply exposing what already existed? I really want to see your comments and really want to engage with you guys and get the answer to that question. This is your first time showing up to the Notion podcast.
