Fetishization reduces complex individuals to their body, identity, or relationship structure, often creating unrealistic expectations and objectifying people, while sexual empowerment involves rejecting mainstream gender norms, fostering inclusivity, and redefining sexuality on one's own terms; the Goth community exemplifies this distinction, as over-fetishization content portrays goths through male fantasy and reduces them to sexual objects, whereas authentic goth culture emphasizes political radicalism, DIY creativity, diversity, and defying societal norms.

The over fetishization of the GOTH community.Added:
Hello everyone, it's Goth Bezy. Welcome back to my channel. Today we're going to be talking about the difference between over peticization and sexual empowerment. This is something I've been wanting to talk about for a while, but I wanted to make sure that everything that I was saying made sense. So, I've been researching and just kind of patiently waiting for the right time. You all have shown me so much love and support and have really encouraged me to make this video. And I am so appreciative of of all of you. People are very unaware of the difference between sexual empowerment and feticization.
So much that when you speak out against the over feticization, you are called a woman hater or assumed you are you are against sex workers. I want to make a full disclaimer. I am fully 100% supportive of sex workers and the examples I'll be using today are merely examples of what overfeticization can look like especially within like a subculture. I believe women should have a choice to do what they want with their bodies. Sex work should be a safe space and women deserve the safety within sex work and sex work is real work. So, this is not the video to go in the comments and and comment misogynistic takes on sex work. The entire issue of this whole thing is not even sex work. It's over feticization. I want to go into the definition of feticization. Um, fetishization is the reduction of a person's aspects to their body, identity, or relationship structure. I got this from an article called Feticization of the Queer Community by Ash Maris. The link will be in the description below, so make sure to check that out. This article says everything that I want to say, but in regards to the Goth community, a quick reminder that the Goth community is very queer, so no, you cannot be Goth and conservative. If you want to learn the history of goth, please watch my oxymoron of a red pill goth. The way these overfeticization videos portray goths is untrue and based off of male fantasy, which can be dangerous for goths. It creates unrealistic expectations in relationships with goths. Men assume all goths have o of sexual harassment and even sexual assault. I have received multiple comments from goth saying this is why they do not want to wear goth makeup anymore or want to even show that they are goth because of the weirdos who are aggressive in fetishizing them in these fetishization videos. They are usually forcefully shaking their breasts, eating fast food and or with an old man in a hospital. They ask naughty questions, spit in the camera, and even say that they peed in drinks. What the hell?
You're drinking my drink.
>> And I pissed in it, too.
>> You do not want to know where this has been.
>> One of them talks with a child's voice, which is something that irks me the most. And I mean, I do have examples of this, and I will show as much as I can that YouTube will allow. Um, there is one with an old man where he's dying on the deathbed saying, "I need goth girls.
>> What do you need?
>> I NEED I NEED I NEED MORE GOTH GIRLS."
>> AND THEN, you know, a bunch of goth girls appear. And he's like, "Oh, I'm I'm healed now. I'm all better." It's kind of ridiculous. With their solo content, they have photos, videos of them doing the AIO face. I'm not sure if I said that right. I'm so sorry.
One of the creators had that specific face p pinned on her page but removed the pin after receiving criticism from my comment section. A lot of people had noticed after I posted the video that that was her pinned post. And um though I do not fully agree with everyone who was attacking her, um there were some really good points made by people who were, you know, constructively criticizing, not being just a bully, which I do not approve of, by the way. Okay, so if you're in my comment section, you're bullying these girls. That's not that's not what we're here for. We're here for education and for learning. The AIO face is extremely controversial. It first appears in adult manga, but since has been seen in cosplay, Tik Tok reels, Reddit, and now goth girls. Some of the major pushbacks are ignoring cultural sensitivity, overuse in creative spaces, and posting to teen focused platforms. Their content specifically caters to the male version of Goth. I had a creator who reached out to me, uh, not sure if they're from the Goth House, but they say they know the ones in the Goth House, admitted to me they do use Goth as a buzzword for the algorithm. When you are knowingly profiting off of sexualizing an entire subculture, one that is already so extremely fetishized, continuing to work with companies that Goths are boycotting because of the contribution to bombing of children in you know where it makes it harmful to the community. And basically what it does is it waters it down. That's the best word I can think of. It waters down the subculture. Um, it also takes away from the hard work that the goth activists are doing. We're boycotting these companies, McDonald's, um, Domino's, all these big companies that they are using to profit off of by being goth. And a quick reminder that OAF is one of the companies that does support Israel. So, if you need any other reason to boycott OAF, that is the reason. Um, the article is down in the description below. Um, again, it's not against the sex workers, it's against the industry and these companies. I also want to address the fact that they continuously perpetuate the skinny white goth stereotype, showing that goth is predominantly white, which is not true.
Without people of color, we would not have the goth subculture that we have today. Black, brown, Asian, any ethnicities that are not white already receive an insane amount of hate and racism within the goth community because they're not white. And this really only adds on to the hate of thinking other ethnicities cannot be goth. It is harmful. Not once have we seen a person of color in their content, which did lead my comment section, my followers to ask all the right questions. Here is um a good example of that and all the right questions that they had to ask. As we know, Goth does not have a specific look. It ranges from no makeup, minimal makeup, trady, colorful, scary, and messy. Goss are not here to cater to society makeup norms.
With that in mind, I just want you to look at how they all do the makeup the exact same. No goth makeup is ever really the same. They basically do the bare minimum with their makeup. They have this like the way that I have seen it or kind of like have the Mavis look from, you know, Hotel Transennsylvania.
They have that little Mavis look. And I don't know, it's interesting to me. I think you can't just slap some black lipstick and little winged eyeliner and call yourself goth. When you look at these goth goths makeup, I feel like the reason they do it so um minimalistic is to appease to the the um the conservative men because when they see a goth with this makeup, I get comments like, "You're a freak. You know, you're hideous. You're so ugly." right? Um, from the same men that go into the goth house comments and say, "Oh, I love goth girls so much."
They're eirls at best, and they're allowed to be egirl. There's nothing wrong with e- girls, but they are not goth. They do not withhold any of the goth values. I genuinely do not believe that these women hold any of the goth values. They are promoting our subculture to men who would usually hate us, and they do, unless they can get a sexual fantasy out of us. Us Goth are not all the same when it comes to how we prefer to be sexual and how we choose to use our sexual empowerment. Some goths are subs, others are doms, some goths are asexual, and others do sex work.
Embracing sexual empowerment looks like looking different than the average Joe.
Body mods, dark makeup, dark clothing, very leftist ideologies.
These videos are not what that what that is. Goth is to go against the mainstream. And I will confidently say that their content is extremely mainstream. Goths are politically radicalized. We love weird music. We see the beauty in the dark. We're all different shapes and sizes, different ethnicities. Some have religious beliefs while others have none. We all have different hobbies, and we even like non-goth things. My thing is being obsessed with Bob's burgers. There are trans goth, by goth, non-binary goth. We are creative, smart, strong, beautiful, politically charged and extremely diverse. We are complex individuals. We make music, painting, clothes, art, jewelry, and we build community. If you are a baby bat watching this, just remember that your worth does not come from the amount of men who are willing to goon to you or how sexy you look eating donuts. You do not have to go that route to be considered goth. The music, the politics, DIY, defying the norms is really what makes us goth. Find the right community online. Not all of us post over fetishization content. If you are a minor online, please be careful with the content you consume and please educate yourself. Keeping miners off the internet is almost near impossible. They will figure out ways on their own without their parents knowing. Trust me, I was a rebellious kid. I was one of those. This brings me to time and place.
I do not fully believe posting this this to Facebook and Instagram is the right time or place. maybe on your OAF or any other adult content websites, specifically for adults, because baby bats can see this and get swept under thinking that this is what it is to be goth or just being um shown very sexual content that I don't think that they should necessarily be seeing.
Like I said, very adult content needs to be posted on adult content websites where people have to pay to see it if they want to. I made a very short video on this and posted Instagram. If you have not seen it, here it is.
Unfortunately, I still post to Facebook.
It has been a debate in my mind to stop because of how awful it is, but I'm stubborn and I do not want them to believe that they pushed me away.
Anyways, I had originally saw that video on Facebook and like I said a little bit before, all the same men that call me ugly, fat, that I should be put in a mental facility, mentally ill, liptard, oth, the list goes on. They are the same ones commenting on her post talking about how much they love goths and all the nasty and disgusting things they would do to her or other goths if they could. Truly disgusting behavior. Some men obviously are not smart enough to know the difference between fantasy and real life. They fully believe this is just what goth is. So when I post my political opinions, I'm not overfeticizing myself in my photos and my reals. I oppose my makeup. I ruin their idea of what goth is. And then they have the goal to say that goth is not political and tell me to start an OAF instead or I get hate immediately assuming that I have an OF. They are so mad that they can't fetishize me and they have to find a way to degrade me.
It's crazy that the industry would not exist without these men and they still try to bring down the women who do the work or assume they do sex work. Like I said earlier because I just really want to make sure you guys are seeing cuz it seems like on Instagram the point went over many people's head and I just want to really show that the video I made was not to shame the girl who made it. It was to bring awareness as to why Goth is so watered down and fetishized.
She's still allowed to do so, but I'd be lying if I did not say that she and the others are perpetuating the issues by continuing to make this content. One of Queen Nephi's friends, Pink Chu Woo, saw my post and commented she deleted the comment and posted it to threads instead. You can pause to read the fact that she says Queenie is more goth than most of the posers that throw on trad goth makeup and call it a day. Even if you both were to put trath makeup on, you would not be goth. She goes on to say, "Stop putting people down when they have been part of the community longer than most of the people crying about."
It may not look it, but I am 30 years old. I have been goth since I was 13.
It may be that Queen Nephes is sweet. I never said that she wasn't. In fact, my video was to bring more attention to the men than Queen Nephy herself. Like I said when I had responded, if you feel attacked, then maybe the maybe there is a reason. The contact they are posting is perfect examples of what overfeticization looks like. I can't take a nonoverfeticization and say this is over feticization. It wouldn't make sense. But Bezy, isn't goth about sexual empowerment? Yes, but this is not that.
Let's go into the uh small definition of sexual empowerment. Sexual empowerment is rejecting mainstream gender norms, fostering inclusivity, redefining their sexuality on their own terms, queer inclusive spaces, and women liberation.
Unfortunately, this can overlap with over feticization and objectification.
It can be exploited by mainstream patriarchal views. Reducing complex individuals to the OF goth girl stereotype. Finding goth attractive is okay. It's when you reduce them to a sexual object and nothing more. In her second response to me, she says, "Do some self-reflection and stop blaming men, which I think is a really weird thing to say. It get kind of gives the Roma Chloe." Um, it gives women who support and marry MAGA men. I understand that her entire livelihood is based off of men, but I think it's also kind of crazy for her to not blame the men or even not bring up the fact that these men are part of the issue. Some responses say that I'm censoring men, which is also really funny to me. I do not owe anyone an a response, but if you have made it this far into the video, I think you deserve to get to know me a little bit more. I have been working on des decentering men for a very long time. As soon as I turned 13, I received my first sexual harassment from a very old man who was my private math tutor.
he would comment on my eyes, which is normal because I do have very big eyes and when I was little they probably looked even bigger. Um, so I was used to that. I was like, "Oh yeah, you know, that's I get that every day." Like I'm not I'm not it's not a big deal. Then he kind of started commenting my body and eventually said, "You are like candy.
One day men are going to come up and just grab you." And as messed up as that was, he was not wrong. Till about the age of 23, I experienced sexual assault and sexual harassment.
Um, I don't go out as often as I used to, but my DMs are filled with disgusting things as well. Not as much as you would think, though. I used to get a lot more nasty DMs when I was like blonde and um doing my fitness thing.
And I just feel like I've learned to set boundaries for myself and even if I see something in my messages, I just [ย __ย ] ignore it. Anyways, my sweet young brain took this as well. This might be the only way that I am valued is through my beauty and my body. And not to mention all the shows that we watched growing up in, you know, in our childhood. all the skinny, very skinny waisted cartoon characters to the 2000s like Britney Spears and Demi Lovado, Selena Gomez, Hannah Montana, all these very skinny girls and even the women very skinny.
Like that's what we grew up seeing as a as what would bring value from a woman, right? And honestly, I was really wanted for just those reasons, not for who I really was. I started modeling at 18, a very Playboy style type images, and my content was heavily male centered, posting myself basically naked, and asking naughty questions. I felt like this was the only way for me to actually have a following.
I really did not believe that I myself was worth more. This is my personal goal and I do not hold anyone else to this. I know that even with myself growing up Mormon and in Christianity, this was also me rebelling the conformity. Uh you know, as soon as I like hit 18, I was like, "Okay, I'm going to do my own thing." Which, you know, was not wrong.
Like that is something that is okay for me to do. Um, but truthfully, it just wasn't good for my mental health. I created this GothB account with the idea of gaining followers on my intelligence, gaming content, makeup, and yeah, sometimes my sexually empowered posts because like I said, we are all allowed to embrace our sexual empowerment the way that we see fit.
But I don't want that to be all that I offer. People will say things and not realize that it's purely out of projection. I myself have been working on this and reflecting, but it has not turned me into a woman hater or sex work hater. The type of men following them are the type of men I do not want following me. I will not center my content to gain that type of following.
I can't control who follows me all the time, but I do notice when weirdos follow, message me, and I will block.
The following number being so high is really not worth it for me to center my content and my goth aesthetic to look a specific way for a certain type of conservative men to want to follow me.
In fact, I love pissing them off. Men will fetishize everything from children to animals, nuns, Mormons, goth, etc. It all is deeply rooted in the patriarchy. It's outright disturbing.
There is really a deeper issue with all of this. The main takeaway of this video that I want you to learn from this is stop believing that this is all that goth is and actually really dig into the subculture. I'm going to go over the definitions again, but in like shorter terms. Um, feticization is reducing very complex people to just an object.
Sexual empowerment is choosing what you want to do for yourself and having diverse options. And like I said before, these women are allowed to do this. This is something that will never be taken away. At least I don't think so. I don't see it changing anytime soon. I will not participate in this type of content. But again, they are allowed to do that. But I think it's okay to talk about it and bring awareness to the cuz because it's like this is not all that goth is and people are genuinely believing that this is all that goth is. So I think it's okay to criticize not to hate. I think I really do think two can be true at once um as long as we're not being hateful and making it unsafe for them to exist. Goth does have a lot of sex work and kink involved within the subculture and you know the clothes, the fishnetss, the chokers and everything does come from that. That's because Goth is a form of re rebellion from the conservative norms or you know if you grew up in a very Christian family very Mormon family Jehovah's Witness whatever it may be these you were conditioned to believe that sex was bad and so and in a way you know the world pushes you to marry and have children society really and it's a part of going against the norm of society and basically what these videos do I feel like these videos although they are you know sex um sex work I do believe that they still promote mainstream kind of like I said earlier they promote a mainstream idea of goth and when it's really just eat girl. Does that make sense? In the end, it comes back to the men in the industry. I genuinely believe without men and without latestage capitalism, the O of industry would not be so prevalent. It is hard to survive these days and with higher cost of living, food, a normal 9 to5 does not cut it. Lots of women go into this type of work to survive. I do believe there's a small amount of women who enjoy it and I think that's great for them, but overall I do overall it's not something we all grow up wanting to do. Lots of underage girls get into it early on as well because it's popularized and glamorized on Instagram and Tik Tok so much that these girls think that going into it they'll make a lot of money and realizing that it is not that easy. Just know that there's other options and other things that you can do in your life. And if it is something that you really have to do, I don't judge. I don't judge. Um, do what's best for you. And thank you so much for watching. Please like, comment, subscribe. I've got more videos on the way. Thank you so much for your patience and support. Much love. Bye.
