You know, I start each hunt with telling people to shoot them in the head, but a lot of times folks just don't believe me and how tough they are, but they learn quicks.

[00:02:19]tail curing when you're standing on a cooler on a rocking boat going uphill.

[00:02:30]>> All these rocks here, they actually just put in over this past like 8 months. And I can only imagine what it cost, but it's all because of iguana damage.

[00:02:39]Iguanas ate away this whole embankment.

[00:02:42]They had to come back in here, reform it, lay down cloth, small rock, and these big rock. And the iguanas are already digging back into it. You can see all the dirt they pulled out. They cost our state millions and millions of dollars every year on top of the >> millions they pay Mike to remove them.

[00:03:02]>> On top of the damage they do to our native wildlife. Today we got a couple of auto puppies with me and while they are totally kicking ass, they're still learning the ropes and do goofy puppy things. Uzi's been out here almost every day with me, but Trigger is not getting quite the same experience. And wouldn't you know it, he got a little ahead of himself.

[00:03:41]>> Between the freeze and the work I've been doing with me and my guys out here on the canal, the iguana population has been diminished in a lot of these areas to almost nothing.

[00:04:30]>> Please. Please place hold him. Iguanas are definitely here to stay in the state. We're not going to totally be able to get rid of them. We need a lot more of a freeze to do that. You know, these iguanas, they dig burrows. They get in all kind of areas that can keep them warm through that freeze. I would say a lot of the iguanas in the trees died, but the iguanas that had holes, a lot of them did survive. At the end of the day, the iguanas are still here to stay. They're going to need a lot more than that to be wiped out. But between me and the freeze, we are seeing huge results in canals, communities, and surrounding areas. And while that's a good thing, I'm happy about, at the same time, I'm a little sad because I want the iguanas wiped out, but I want to be the one to wipe them out, son.

[00:14:03]>> In her defense, these iguanas are extremely tough for the dogs to see, and especially on a tire or something like that. that the dogs are color blind and it completely will blend in and look like a part of the trash. And until these dogs have hundreds or even a thousand iguanas under their belt, it takes a while for them to figure it all out.

[00:14:32]She could find, catch, and retrieve a hundred iguanas flawlessly, but she still might get that one iguana that'll make her look like a rookie.
