This video documents a surgical camp at Uganda Martyrs Hospital in Ibanda, Uganda, where 30 children received treatment for congenital conditions including patent processus vaginalis (leading to hydroceles and hernias), undescended testes, and severe hypospadias. The camp, organized by Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, provided free surgical care and rehabilitation services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and assistive devices to help children achieve independence.

30 children treated in Ibanda surgical campAjouté :
Managed it to work on a a good number of pediatric cases.
And most of the children that we've had had what we call a uh patent processus vaginalis, where you find the track left by the testes that is going into the its scrotum doesn't close. So, most of them were coming with congenital hydroceles and congenital hernias.
So, those were uh roughly 24 cases which we managed to work on.
Others had uh undescended testes.
Those were two.
And uh there were other cases that had severe forms of hypospadias which were referred to Mbarara. Our concern and our mission is to extend pediatric care, surgical care to children who are in need of these services. Part of what we do is to focus on uh supporting surgeries for children and also rehabilitation, which includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and also availing assistive devices that will make the life of children uh become independent in the long run.
His aunt has spent 80 years with the child has 80 years.
So, I realized that my baby that uh she had that case after 3 months when she was born.
So, I could keep on seeing her for people taking her to the clinics telling me that the disease was not manageable to the clinics. Wherever I take her, they would ask me a lot of money.
But when I came to to this time, for free.
Let me say and she has been treated very well.
And she's now okay.
Really, I do appreciate this program.
We thank the government, the Kagongo Hospital. We thank the people who managed to to treat our child.
