Arantza Goett's Current Reads | Book ToursAdded:
Hi, my name is Arantxa Goett, and this is my book tour.
My favorite book is actually a saga, My Brilliant Friend book series. Elena Ferrante is like an anonymous writer. No one knows her real identity. It just gives it a little extra.
It just captures girls rivalry and friendship very beautifully in a way that's very relatable. I was immersed in this story for 2 months. So, when I finished reading them, I thought my life was over.
Okay, I always read with a pen in my hand. Recently, I upgraded to a rainbow pencil. Makes my life so much cuter.
These are my two current reads. This is not that long, but the it's like tiny little letters. But, as we recounted to one another's days, incidents, and emotions, they took on added interest and importance. And the other book that I'm going through is Women Who Run With the Wolves.
It's just going to be a biblia.
Then you go like this. This book belongs to Arantxa Goett.
It is so cutesy. This is a bookmark made by my sister. She's a painter, and these are like canvases that have been like cut and made into, you know, it's cutesy.
Last year, I basically only read female authors. Which I feel like I already did, but I intentionally did it. So, I rejected any male written books. It was my best reading year of my life. I got into Clarice Lispector with Agua Viva. When I started reading it, my water bottle spilled all over my bag. It's completely like wet. But, it's crazy because it's called Agua Viva. The day before that, I dreamt that I was drowning, and then I read it. I also got into a couple of Mexican writers.
Classic Como agua para chocolate, which actually Keanu was reading when it was gifted to me. This incredible. This reminded me a lot about my grandmother's marriage. This was like a very amazing way for someone to narrate their lives when women had no options other than like marriage and kids. I love this book.
These are my chopsticks, and they're [ __ ] beat up cuz I've had them for like 15 years, and they will never be replaced. I was recommended by my therapist to read this book. I think I'm just not into the self-help.
I'm sorry. You know, I just think self-help doesn't speak to me as much as like fiction does. I prefer a story that is told about like a character that is going through something than someone telling me this is what you are going through, you know? This is my latest read. So, the narrator tells the story of her sister's feminicide, and it's heartbreaking. Approximately 11 women are killed in Mexico per day. So, this kind of tells the story of it. Not so much focused in the violence of it, although obviously it was a violent crime, but more on the emotional and sensitive side of it from the sister's perspective. I obviously cried a trillion times because I have two sisters, and I myself am a woman.
But, I think everyone, especially in Mexico or Latin America, should read this. I think men should read this. I think this should be in schools in Mexico, actually, but they're probably never going to do that.
Uh okay, I love Toni Morrison. I have read The Bluest Eye, which was like I felt like I was listening to a song when I was reading this. The Lover by Marguerite Duras.
[ __ ] love this cover.
Talk about a good cover.
