This video exposes the uncomfortable reality that professional solidarity often collapses under the weight of subconscious competition, revealing a hidden layer of gender bias. It serves as a sobering reminder that meritocracy is frequently sabotaged by the very people expected to champion it.

Attractive women less likely to get hired if employer is female追加:
Bestie, I've been interviewing, but I still cannot land a job.
>> It's probably because you're a baddie.
>> First, thank you. Second, what?
>> According to a study, attractive women are less likely to get hired if the employer is female.
>> Okay, but hold on. You've quoted a ton of studies about how the beauty premium includes things like fairing better in social and economic life, having more successful careers with higher salaries, and even being more likely to be hired.
>> Yes. But we're discovering that in many cases, women experience a beauty penalty. So, this study sent 5,312 résumés in pairs with 2,656 advertised job openings. Now, in each pair, one résé was sent without a photo and then an identical resume was sent with a photo of either an attractive man or woman or a plain woman or man.
>> Sidebar, this study happened in Israel, where it's not unusual to send a photo with your resume.
>> The study found that attractive men received a 20% response rate, which was double the response rate for plain males or no picture males. But with women, the study had a striking contrast.
Attractive women were called back for a position less often than women who are perceived as plain or the no picture candidates. In fact, among the female candidates, no picture had the highest response rate.
>> Okay, but how do we know that the the penalty of this is because it's done by female employers?
>> So, after the experiment, the researchers looked at who exactly screened the candidates when employment agencies had received the resumes.
Attractive female candidates were no worse off than plain or no picture candidates. However, when the corporation was recruiting directly, attractive females received a response rate about half of the plain or noed women. The researchers concluded this was likely due >> to the number of women in HR staffing position.
>> Exactly. So, they spoke to the company recruiters and in 96 of those companies that they interviewed, it was a young single female aged 23 to 29 doing the hiring. So, the researchers think HR was subconsciously turning down attractive women so they'd have less competition.
>> Yes. And also, they'd probably jelly.
>> Okay. But that that's one study.
>> Not just one. Another study using deep fake job application videos found similar results that only men consistently profited from their looks in job interviews where women were penalized.
>> Okay. Well, I guess thanks for telling me.
>> You're welcome.
>> I'll just keep looking.
>> Good luck. Good looking.
Great.
