Spatial computing represents a paradigm shift from traditional screen-based interactions to world-based interactions, where digital content is projected directly into the physical environment through augmented reality and smart glasses, enabling more natural and immersive experiences for training, design, engineering, and field work applications.

Spatial Computing: A New Interface EraAdded:
The next big interface may not fit inside a screen. That's why you need to understand the concept of spatial computing.
For decades, we have interacted with technology through rectangles, phones, laptops, tablets, and monitors. Spatial computing changes that by bringing digital content into the space around us. Think of the difference between looking at a floor plan and walking through the building.
One shows you information, the other lets you experience it. I've recently tried the latest glasses from companies like Meta, Alibaba, and Samsung. Enabled by smart displays and augmented reality, digital objects can sit in your environment, respond to context, and become something you interact with in a far more natural way. This is where the tension lies. Flat screens still dominate, but they are starting to feel like a constraint for some tasks. In business, the use cases are already compelling.
Training can feel more realistic.
Designers can work with full-scale models. Engineers can see systems in context. Field teams can access information directly in front of them.
That opens the door to richer collaborations and more intuitive workflows. There are still barriers, of course. Cost matters, comfort matters, everyday usefulness matters. But the direction of travel for me is super clear here.
Spatial computing is about moving from screen-based interactions to world-based interactions. And once that shift gathers pace, technology will feel less like something we look at and more like something we step into.
