Documents show prior misconduct case involving husband of former FHP captain

[00:00:00]Terminated and facing fraud charges. I'm Troy Campbell in Champions Gate, where they pay off-duty law enforcement to patrol this area. But now former FHP Captain Lanita King and former Trooper Maurice Vilseck are accused of saying they patrol this area when they didn't.

[00:00:21]>> I tried to ask questions as Lanita King left jail early Thursday morning with a coat covering her face, but another woman intervened.

[00:00:30]According to investigators, King wrongfully billed the Champions Gate HOA for 9 days of work, totaling more than $3,500. They say former Trooper Maurice Vilseck fictitiously billed Champions Gate for more than 60 days of work, totaling more than $15,000.

[00:00:47]Records obtained by News 6 show at one point FHP's Inspector General secretly placed GPS tracking devices on both of their vehicles to confirm their locations. Also according to investigators, Vilseck was out of the country on some of the days he billed.

[00:01:03]On others, he was on duty working his regular FHP shift.

[00:01:07]>> Did you take money for work that you didn't do?

[00:01:09]>> King worked for FHP for more than two decades before she was terminated. We've also uncovered her husband, former FHP Captain Sterling King, was also arrested and terminated back in 2005. According to court documents, King issued the victim a traffic citation for speeding, but then started to quote talk about intimate personal sexual experiences he had at a nudist colony. The victim says she then became mortified by King's behavior. Internal FHP email show King sent the victim 24 messages in a 19-week period instructing her how to request a hearing. King was found guilty of two misdemeanors a year after losing his job for misconduct.
