This analysis smartly pivots from debunking clickbait to explaining the systemic impact of official trade policies. It proves that institutional maneuvers are often far more consequential than the sensationalist rumors they replace.

The "Asset Freeze" Rumour Was Fake. What Trump Just Did Is Worse
Added:You've seen the posts. Trump is going to freeze Mark Carney's assets. Now, I actually looked into this claim. I I I kind of looked at the official statements and I'll tell you that it's fake. There's no indication that his personal assets are going to be frozen, but let's talk about the real story underneath everything.
There is a one in three chance part of it actually happening. Now, as of Monday, some of this just did, but it's important to understand how this stuff actually works. So, when the United States freezes money, it happens in public. So, either through an executive order, an OFAC designation published on a government website, a government sanctions list that anyone can search.
So, Mark Carney's name is not there and it's unlikely that it will be. So, that's basically the answer on that front.
But why do people believe this? Why would Trump administration say that he would threaten Mark Carney's assets?
Because there is growing tension between the United States, Trump administration, and the Carney liberal government. Now, if you think about how this all started, you know, Carney went to China and he made a deal with China. He's allowing China to to get further enmeshed into the Canadian economy. 49,000 Chinese EVs that will never step foot in the United States. China gave some concessions as well. Trump then threat threatened 100% tariffs. He drew a map showing Canada as American territory. So, obviously that's real. That was economic coercion and and then you have Carney going to Davos in that same week and he gives this really big speech. We spoke about this so many times on this channel and of course that speech was more about his alignment with China, you know, getting away from the United States, diversifying, right? A new world order, his words. So, Trump obviously responded to this in a negative way. So, yes, it is personal, but it's also about ideology. The United States has one ideology of the future. Canada seems to have another one, and these are two countries that are supposed to be allies. Now, when you look at Mr. Carney, we have um 560 companies uh that he's kind of enmeshed with. Uh his stock options are worth 6.8 million uh US, right? So, there's issues with um Carney as well that, you know, Canadians have heard about with respect to that scandal, but the Trump administration is not responding with asset freezes, but tariffs.
But, it was actually a Canadian that actually recommended freezing Trump's billionaire backers, freezing their accounts. So, this is kind of switched where the Trump administration is now uh doing the same thing, or at least spreading that type of rhetoric to at least communicate that there's growing tensions between, like I said, the Trump administration and the Carney government for obvious reasons, because here's the thing, it seems as though the Carney government does not have the same values and vision for the future as the US does, right? And we can see that this is a huge It's becoming a huge divide.
We can see that there are now more tariffs being imposed against Canadian goods, right? Trump has signaled that he's going to now put a 50% or not signaled, he'd made it official that he's going to put a 50% tariff on many Canadian goods.
So, this is actually set to take effect on August 19th, 2026. Is it going to affect roughly 20 billion dollars in Canadian exports, about 5% of Canada's uh total exports to the US.
So, this is not um this is actually becoming quite serious, because it's not Carney's assets that are going to be affected here.
It's going to be the Canadian uh citizens. It's going to be the Canadian economy. It's going to be the house values, the job market. It's not going to be Mark Carney's assets.
As as usual, the elite are completely insulated from this type of trade war.
Okay? So, the real risk here is that it's the Canadian projects that are going to take a hit. And the real scandal is sitting in Ottawa.
It's the Ottawa Ethics Committee, not the US Treasury. So, the July 20th tariffs aren't the end game. They're actually the signal.
They're the signal that the real problem, you know, the real problem with Canada is the potential ethics violation sitting in Ottawa.
Running the country.
Because you might be mad at Trump.
You might be upset at the Trump administration for imposing tariffs.
But your anger at the Trump administration is not going to change the fact that the Trump administration is going to make it very hard for Canadians because of the rhetoric and the policies, the anti-American policies that are being carried out by the Carney government.
So, you can point your finger at the Trump administration all day long, but that's not the reason that your life is getting harder.
So, real allies get preferential treatment.
So, ask yourself if Canada is still an ally of the United States.
And if somehow you believe that you want to basically sacrifice the next 15 years of your life by watching your equity disappear, by watching your jobs disappear, by watching the brain drain in this country because you believe that diversifying with other countries who are not even a fraction of the strength that America carries, is better.
Well, that means that we're the whole country's going to have to suffer for the next 15 years for some vision that is literally just a pipe dream.
So, we have to decide if that's what we want and we have to start looking at the real problem.
