Siddiq’s narrative proves that intellectual depth is a more potent form of leverage than physical violence, even in the harshest social hierarchies. It is a compelling testament to how rational dialogue can dismantle primitive power structures and command genuine respect.

Gang Mentality & Prison Decisions | From Inside: Part 8 of 18 | Ali SiddiqAdded:
Now, if you don't, this is this gonna be different because I am minding my business. I'm like a nerd going to school. Go on, [ __ ] >> I wanted to be treated human.
I want everybody around me to be treated human.
I remember my little my little protest and my little [ __ ] with the I wouldn't you my rational how I rationalize [ __ ] the gangs were fighting which was killing me because we was getting locked down all the time gang fights and then I came and revealed myself at first I was chilling I was watching him do all that goofy [ __ ] and I just I'mma stay out of it.
And then I said, "Man, let me talk to the dudes who's supposed to be the quote unquote leaders. Let me holl at y'all."
I said, "Man, I'm one of the youngest guys on this prison.
Been here since I was 19.
I'm 21."
And I would like not to be locked down again for y'all fighting.
I I I would I would prefer that. Man, this the game. This is See, this is the problem.
You got a lot of people following you on both sides that don't have adequate information on how things actually go.
You can't be a 21 year old OG. [ __ ] don't go together.
You ain't got enough age. You ain't got enough time. You got enough wisdom. You ain't got enough intellect to be a O to be called OG. You 21, 22, all that [ __ ] So I told the guys, I say this, if you can out gang knowledge me, y'all can continue to do the [ __ ] the way you doing it. And I'm talking on both sides. I want you to be able to out gain knowledge me on both sides.
Don't worry about what side I'm on cuz at this time I'm on the side of human.
If you cannot out gang knowledge me then you got to relinquish your your [ __ ] Bet bet.
You choose the game. I'mma run the history if you We going to out. We going to outrun each other. Who got whoever got the most knowledge? Difference is I'm a gang member from the streets. I didn't get in the gang in here.
>> Difference. I've been in the gang since I was 13. And I didn't even get into the gang for no type of protection. No none of that [ __ ] I happened to be running with some people that's in this affiliated with this gang. This particular group of people don't like them. They associate me with them because me and them friends. When you when you get into with me, you think that I'm this. No, I'm only associated with this because I my friends I got friends that shoot too, but I just hang with them. I'm not in none of this [ __ ] I am about basketball and money.
Nothing about this [ __ ] about this [ __ ] Within a month, the prison guards came to me and said, "What did you do?"
I said, "What you mean?" "We haven't had a gang altercation on this unit since we saw you talking on the record."
I said, "Yeah." Cuz I did the same thing that Black did to me. Black put his arms behind his back. We get on that wreck yard. We get on the track and we'll walk and we walk and we talk and all the [ __ ] he would say would make sense.
Same thing. Let me talk to y'all.
If it does not make sense, I don't give a [ __ ] about how you feel cuz I don't [ __ ] with people who go on their feelings. This institution, just like when I was here, is full of people based upon some [ __ ] that they felt.
Not not one person in here is based on some [ __ ] that they thought about.
Not one person in here and this is the hard this is the hard realities that we got. It's a lot of people here that that's not going to hear [ __ ] I said today. It's not going to resonate at all because they going to be in their feelings. I used to be and the thing difference is I don't have the energy and the time that I used to do.
Everybody on Torres unit that know me, Lewis and Clue, they'll tell you you had to go. If you was in my age bracket from 19, 18, 19 to 22, 23, 24, if you was not in school, you're going to have an altercation with me until you get your [ __ ] ass in school because if you on this block, you going to be stealing.
You going to be doing some other [ __ ] and we going to scrap or I'mma kill you.
And I'mma I'mma take that risk because I don't [ __ ] with these and I don't [ __ ] with people who can't be human in spaces we already dog kennel.
>> If you not trying to progress, I can't [ __ ] with you. I'm already here. I'm already here. And it's people that in this institution that has a mindset that I'm already [ __ ] here. So whatever I do to you, CeCe, he come to prison in 1979 with four years.
I meet him in 1993.
He's never been home. You know what happened? He came with four years. He get into an altercation. He killed somebody in a riot that he was not even in saving his own life. Get a life sentence. Go crazy. Kill four more people inside. He's never coming home.
He came with four years on a [ __ ] burglary. It's not guaranteed that you make it out this [ __ ] >> My homeboy Sam, he came in on a goddamn shot probation.
90 days shock probation.
He never make it home.
Never make it home.
Got a partner Elliot came in. He walking fine from the Southwest. We hooped together for two years in in as in in the goddamn place.
He gets shipped. I get shipped. I run into him again.
I run into him again. I don't run into him. I'm walking. He's in a [ __ ] wheelchair.
Got hit in the head with a can good.
Paralyzed him.
My man get into a fight in the shower.
Him and the dude get in altercation. He dropped the dude. Dude fall, hit his head in the shower. Dead.
My partner get life.
He down there for two years.
These decisions that's in here, there still [ __ ] decisions to be made.
There's still decisions to be made.
I used to watch the toughest dudes until they get sentenced.
Talking all that [ __ ] then they get sentenced. Then you come in [ __ ] shig.
What's up? Where Byron get?
[ __ ] been under the blanket, [ __ ] since he came back.
[ __ ] been under that blanket, [ __ ] [ __ ] under the blanket. The child they call, they call for food. This [ __ ] ain't even he ain't even did this. [ __ ] even did that. He's just under that blanket. And we know what that is, >> right?
>> He got hit with that. He got hit with in Texas what they call the [ __ ] What we call the [ __ ] >> Habitual.
>> He a habitual criminal. Been down three times, three strikes. Gave that man that 25. Gave him that quarter.
>> [ __ ] for two weeks. We couldn't even play dominoes. [ __ ] with this [ __ ] talking.
Don't say 25 loud. This [ __ ] over here until this [ __ ] get shipped. Don't say 25 loud, [ __ ] You couldn't even say 25 IN THE SAME 25, [ __ ] WHO Y'ALL TALK ABOUT, [ __ ] SAY, I'm 25, [ __ ] I'm not talking cuz it it's different.
We feel the feeling. It's different.
It's No, THIS IS WHAT THIS HOW FAKE A [ __ ] IS. IF YOU COME YOU A FAKE [ __ ] DOG. If you try to act like your time ain't [ __ ] you're a fake [ __ ] dog. Cuz nobody goes to court and get that 25 years and come back to the tank, man. Them hoes ain't do [ __ ] 25 years ain't [ __ ] Ain't nobody do that. You come back, you get right under the blanket, [ __ ] This is [ __ ] They come in. Where my blanket at, [ __ ] It's It's terrible.
>> Damn.
>> THE ONLY THING THE ONLY NUMBER that you can hear that you all right with, [ __ ] All right with what number could you hear that you all right with?
>> Five and less.
>> That's a lot. You say five and less.
IF I WOULD HAVE HEARD FIVE, I'M LIKE just see because in when when in in time when you go to the feds, they try to give it to you in months. They try to say months and the [ __ ] don't the [ __ ] sound it sound low cuz it's months cuz you like hey um we going to give you um 360 months [ __ ] that ain't [ __ ] then you like wait a minute [ __ ] 360 months 360 YOU WILD AS HELL
