People or businesses that have the same customers you do, but they don't sell the same service or product that you sell. Property managers, real estate agents, brokers, those are the obvious ones. If you go down the street to the dog supply store, you'll find my flyers on the counter. Why would you put house cleaning flyers in a dog supply place?
Because I know that dogs shed and the hair creates an unforgiving mess all the time. You can battle it all you want, but as soon as you're done vacuuming or cleaning and your dog sheds, that hair is coming back. They have the same customers as I do. People that go and buy dog supplies need their house cleaned. So, we make a deal. They become a strategic partner. I tell the pet store owner, I'm going to put a code on this flyer and every time somebody buys with that code, I'm going to give you X amount of dollars. The guy didn't want any money. He wanted me to make a donation to his favorite charity. I've got an advertisement that doesn't cost me much and every time somebody checks out at the store, they put a flyer in the bag. I get customers and here's the beauty of it. I only pay when it performs and when I pay, it goes to charity. Everybody wins. One strategic partner, many, many customers.
