This video discusses how racial stereotypes can lead to unfair assumptions about individuals, using the example of Cynthia Erivo being perceived as Ariana Grande's 'bodyguard' at the Wicked premiere due to her height and race, and explores the debate about whether such perceptions are rooted in systemic racism or personal choices.

‘Delusional’ Cynthia Erivo pulls race card in response to Wicked red carpet incidentAdded:
As she has addressed, well, this weird moment at the Wicked premiere, you might remember when she just sort of she jumped in front of her co-star Ariana Grande acting like some sort of bodyguard and protector. I mean, the whole the whole tour, the way that these two interacted was just sickening, weird, and wrong. But, she's now done a one-on-one interview with Variety, and she has said, "I think we haven't really come to terms with the insidious nature of how we view black women, and I'm sure people will read this and think, 'Oh, for goodness' sake, it's not about that.' But, it is, because that's what being made fun of. I was It was my physique, it was my shape, it was the fact I was bald, it was about what I looked like, and because of that there was an assumption that I was bigger than my co-star, and so I had to be controlling or protecting." And she went on to say, "I would hazard a guess that it would not have been the same had it been the other way around."
Zach, what annoys me is that she's pulled the race card. She What Why? Why does she have to go there?
>> She's also completely >> [snorts] >> eradicating the fact that Ariana Grande was equally trolled just as much as Cynthia. It was them together, and their cringey, weird, bizarre behavior where they were all over each other. And no, nobody was looking at Cynthia Erivo and being like, "Because she's a black woman and she's taller than Ariana, that's why we thought that she was her bodyguard." No, it's the fact that she jumped into protector, which is the job and the role of a bodyguard. You know, and also the biggest critique about Cynthia Erivo was also Ariana Grande and Michelle Yeoh, and it was the fact that they look emaciated, right? They're so skinny, and the jokes that were going around were, "What happened on the set of Wicked that made all of them so traumatized that they didn't eat for months on end?" So, you know, and and again, if she thinks that it's because she's bald or too skinny, those are also two elective things. She can choose to not be that skinny, and she can choose to grow her hair out or wear a wig or whatever she wants to do. Those are totally elective decisions that if she has a problem with people having that issue with how she looks, I just think she's in a land of victimhood delusion that is not in touch with reality.
>> I agree, and she also said that she's she's had enough of Wicked. I mean, where where do you think this now sympathy tour has come from? I mean, that this money made this movie made her so much money, okay? She is rich because of it, and now she she's had enough, Zach. She doesn't want to be part of it.
>> Don't have dreams, everybody, because the second you get what you wish for, it's it's the worst thing in the world, right? It's crazy. She was the biggest star. She was known for her her talent.
I mean, and let's not forget, Defying Gravity was a moment, and that moment was solely given to Cynthia Erivo. She was praised for her talent. She was one of the biggest stars in the world for two straight years as we had part one and part two. Like, she even stole some of the the attention away from Ariana Grande because her voice was praised so much for Defying Gravity. And now she needs to learn how to defy her ego. She needs to learn how to defy her own narcissism because she needs to stop playing the victim and realize she is so blessed beyond what most Americans are facing right now.
