My Two European Friends Get a Real Filipino Welcome! 🇵🇭Added:
Guys, my friend just arrived in the Philippines. And guess what? This is the first episode of the channel, which is me taking foreigners around the country to try Filipino food.
>> Can you just say hi to the vlogs?
>> Hi.
>> If you come with someone that's not here, it probably could be intimidating, but >> everybody is very friendly and, you know, welcoming. As always, it's Filipinos always.
>> That's the culture. Yes, there's a lot of struggle here, but I see a lot of opportunity here with people.
>> Are you guys excited for the food?
>> Very excited.
>> Even for the experience.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Guys, let's go.
>> Hey, what's up?
>> What's up, my friend?
>> What's up?
>> Boy, >> what's up?
Where you from?
>> Philippines.
>> I'm so good.
>> Hello.
>> Hello.
>> Hi. Hi. All right.
>> You don't uh >> you don't have a pusset anymore.
>> What do you have?
By the way, she's super famous.
She's super famous.
>> Super famous. They just arrived in the Philippines today.
>> What can they eat?
>> Chicken P with two rice. Okay.
>> Okay. Chicken with two rice.
>> Guys, we decided to sit here. So, can you guys tell us what are like your first impression of Manila?
>> First impression is that the people are very social, friendly. Um, >> trying to connect with you. Uh, it's very hot.
>> We're not used to that at home.
>> Uh, and it's quite I was expecting it to be more busy than I was uh hearing about Manila. So, but first impression 10 out of 10 still.
>> I mean, I know I I know you have been here before, but like this this year you get it's your first time here >> at the market. Yeah. This market first time. I mean, I think if you if you come with someone that's not here, it probably could be intimidating, but >> everybody is very friendly and, you know, welcoming as always. It's Filipinos always.
>> That's the culture. They always like this. Um, >> yeah.
>> So, now we were I mean, we were just walking. And now we're going to try this food here. And then you I mean you mentioned that this food back home probably could cost higher, >> would be more expensive.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> So in terms of like pesos, let's say like uh you have the whole chicken on and and rice >> back home maybe >> that would be about £15 possibly, which is >> around about just over a,000 pesos.
Pesos >> for one for one uh whole chicken arrest.
>> Yeah. And it wouldn't even taste good.
>> I mean, it tastes okay, but >> yeah, it's not 180 pesos like that.
>> So, this one is only like 80 pesos here.
And by the way, guys, you guys have to check her out. She's super famous here in the Philippines. So, we are just sitting. We're going to have a dinner in the middle of the street, bro. Look at this.
>> In the middle of guys, >> it's life.
>> Life, man.
>> Life, man.
>> For the best best kept secret. So, >> yeah. So you guys, for how long you guys going to stay in Manila again?
>> We go tomorrow. We go tomorrow to uh SIO >> and then we're going to come back towards the end of our trip for maybe a day.
>> Mhm.
>> And then um catch up with Kuya Calvin.
>> Yeah.
>> So uh what advices especially like for you first time?
>> Yeah.
>> Would you give to someone that wants to come to Manila? But we know that sometimes on the social media we we find that Manila is not safe. is not don't go to Manila and probably a lot of foreigners when they come here they just get a layover in Manila and then they go to the island >> from your from your experience even though you just arrived today.
>> What advice would you give those people?
>> Well, when I'm traveling I always go to like the Tik Toks and the Instagrams to find like the locals where where they go, where they eat, where they vibe, where the thing is. So I will always go from experience from people who actually live here cuz they know how the life here is and just the news and things you don't believe everything you read.
>> Okay, boss.
>> So bro, you uh tell me about the food.
>> Chicken's good.
>> Is it good?
>> Rice is always good.
>> Yeah, >> good.
>> Chicken is good. Yeah, >> chicken is good. Yeah, >> but like I I haven't been to you I mean to London. You also have like street food. Of course.
>> Yeah. But >> but is it like here now?
>> It's not British street.
>> Oh, wait. You don't have street food?
>> Yeah, but it's got snacks, sweet stuff.
>> Yeah.
>> There's nothing like this. So, our street food is >> other people's cuisines.
>> Britain doesn't really have street food like >> our own. We have like uh Brit lots of baked pastries like pies and things like that. That's our street food basically.
So >> there's nothing like this.
>> I don't.
>> And what do you guys love the most about traveling?
>> Culture.
>> Culture. Yeah, >> culture.
>> Learning new things, meeting new people.
>> Is there anything you have learned about yourself while traveling?
>> Well, I would say I'm a very introvert person, but I've traveled by myself and I've surprised myself by meeting new groups and just joining new people and yeah.
So yeah, as I was saying, I've been hearing stories from friends, family that also travel um about things that happened to him unfortunately.
But and that also made me more cautious about traveling by myself and traveling at night, going out, those kind of things.
>> But luckily, nothing ever happened to me. So >> it won't happen. And and and and it won't be in the Philippines. Trust me.
Like there >> cuz when I was here two years ago, I was with a friend, female friend as well.
Two of us.
>> So you were in Manila or in Sigor?
>> Cebu.
>> Oh, Cebu. Okay.
>> Also Sigor.
>> Mhm.
>> But everywhere we went, not a single mountain.
>> But Manila is your first line.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> But we didn't have any problems at all.
Like you know in in Europe sometimes men come up to you and >> they just be disturbing you or harassing you but never experienced that here.
>> No.
>> What did you know about Manila before coming here?
>> Not much to be honest. No.
>> Just let's let let me be surprised by him about his stories >> how he experienced it.
>> Are you guys ready?
>> I'm ready.
>> I don't know if I'm ready to be honest.
sandwich.
>> Yeah, we're ready. I'm ready. I'm ready.
I'm ready.
>> So, we're going to go until there all the way down there.
>> Yeah.
>> So, here we have um fried is >> Yeah.
>> Uh this is chicken chicken.
>> Uh we have chicken is you guys want to try the chicken?
>> Yeah. I've tried is before, but my friend >> Oh, you you haven't tried the fried one?
>> No, no, no.
>> Okay. So, >> it sounds nice.
>> Okay. So, yeah. Can we have one?
>> Oh, yeah. And then you can just put on the sauce with um hot sauce.
>> This for intestines.
>> So this is is so this is like a chicken intestine, but we're going to uh this is the fried one.
>> So later on we're going to get the grilled one. So grilled one is super famous here in the Philippines. Yeah.
>> So let's see here. Have you ever eaten is I mean um chicken intestine. Never.
It's >> good. It's actually good. I like it. I like it. Yeah. Yeah.
>> And this one is, if I'm not mistaken, calamaris.
>> Oh, yeah. I think that's the calamari.
>> So, yeah, he will put the sauce there.
>> What sauce? Chili sauce.
>> Uh, that's a uh vinegar.
>> Vinegar.
Everything. Everything with vinegar.
>> Yeah.
>> So, yeah, you guys can >> you guys can try and let us know.
>> I'll go first. I'll go first.
>> I'll go first.
>> Okay. You ready?
>> Ready, bro.
>> Fried out. Yeah. Was it good?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> Good.
>> Let me get you a cheese.
>> Surprised.
>> Really? Yeah.
>> Does it like Does it taste like with anything similar back home?
>> I would say cuz it's like fried battered.
>> We have things like battered sausages and like fish and chips, right?
>> Yes. It's the same type of covering for that. But in terms of like the texture stuff, I can't put a finger on it. Like it's not >> I got to I got to I got to eat as well, you know? I have >> I can't just let them eat now.
>> Oh, good.
>> And especially with the vinegar.
>> Yeah.
>> Even though it's super fatty, it it breaks away the fatness of >> the oil. Fresh a bit.
>> Yeah.

on and off for 15 years.
>> 15 years.
>> Yeah.
>> What do you love the most about the country?
>> There's so much opportunity here that people need to strongly recognize and embrace. Yes, it's a third world country. Yes, there's a lot of struggle here. But I see a lot of opportunity here that people need to just focus and just do it. And there's there's a lot of ways to really do good here.
>> Okay. 15 years on and off. What is something you wish I mean what is something that the Philippines can learn from the states?
>> That's a great question. I don't have a good answer. Learn from the States >> or vice versa. What is something that the state can learn from the Philippines?
>> That's another great question. Um, >> you know, bottom line, >> you got to show up every day.
>> Whether you're in >> if you're a Filipino that wants to come to the United States, don't go for the glitz and glamour. Don't move to California. Don't move to New York City.
Go to Iowa. Go to Nebraska. Go where it's boring. Make that money. Invest your money in a boring ass place and then move to the the glitz and glamour.
So, so for a Filipino that wants to immigrate to United States, don't go to the flashy great, don't go to California.
Go to the middle of the country where they really need hardworking people. The real estate's cheap. Make your money there. Then go for the flashy places.
>> And what advice would you give to a foreigner coming to the Philippines from your own experience?
>> Don't trust anybody online until you meet them in person.
>> Okay. Okay. Okay. If you don't meet >> That's the best advice you'll ever give.
>> Yeah. If you don't meet them in person, then they don't exist.
>> Okay, brother. Thank you so much, man. I appreciate for your time, brother. That was awesome.
>> They need they need to catch a flight by tomorrow.
>> So, they need to go home. They need to rest because they just arrived today.
Just want to say thank you so much for being part of this vlog. Yeah. Thank you so much for enjoying the food as well.
And probably I'll be meeting them on the island. Let's see, guys. Let's see. But I'm going to be meeting other friends as well. What message do you have for the world?
>> Come to the Philippines.
>> Okay. What about you, brother? What message you have to the world?
>> And stay in the Philippines.
>> Okay. Let's go.
