The empty evacuation flight is a silent but powerful indictment of a homeland that fails to offer its people a viable future. It proves that for many, the risks of staying abroad are still preferable to the guaranteed stagnation of returning home.

South Africans🇿🇦Mock Ghanaians🇬🇭After Only 1Person Reportedly Shows Up for Ghana’s Evacuation FlightAdded:
Some Ghanaians are saying that oh just because these ones are in South Africa you want to bring them back home you want to give them a job or give them jobs. Meanwhile the Ghanaians who are back home don't have jobs. I mean I've seen a lot of them especially nurses and some other people on social media even crying that they have not been paid. And you want to bring back these ones that jackpad the ones that stayed back to build the country to look for job in the country. You're not giving them. That's to show that you're you're playing to the gallery. You're doing this for show.
And maybe these people who decided not to come back know this tricks and that's why they're not falling for it.
I know some people will come here and say, "Oh, I mean Ghanaian government even tried to bring back their citizens.
What about Nigerian government? You see, it's only a fool that would think that this South African issue with Nigeria started today.
So guys, South Africans are more or less mocking or laughing at Ghanaians about how they planned evacuation of Ghanaian nationals in South Africa, how it all went. Now you would recall that following the xenophobic attack on a Ghanaian national in South Africa, there was this public outcry especially from Ghanaians and then Ghana's minister of foreign affairs announced that they're going to evacuate Ghanaians from South Africa. Now you recall that the guy that was humiliated by South Africans already is in Ghana and somehow has been integrated into the system. So they wanted to do it for a lot of Ghanaians who are willing to come back home and then Ghana's government is saying that oh we are going to provide free flights you know back to Ghana for those who want to come back. So he announced that about 300 Ghanaians already registered to be brought back home and that on the 21st of May they will be brought back home. Okay. So then came the 21st of May. I think a um South African TV station had to go to the airport to see you know Ghanaians who are you know ready to go back home. Now on getting there she as a reporter discovered that only one Ghanaian showed up to go back home. That is after Ghana government reported that about 300 are already or already registered to be brought back home. Anyway, if you're new here, my name is Oi. Thank you so much for joining. Don't forget to subscribe, like, and share.
>> Get um who maybe brought you to the airport.
>> Yeah, I here I just came alone because of I heard about the situation going on and they say the flight will take off 5:00 a.m. So, you must come. That is why I prefer no I must come tomorrow so that I will get the flights fast in terms of maybe there is oh there is a lot of people. Yeah. So I came here I think yesterday 8 7 to 8. Yeah I think I I it took more than 8 hours or 9 hours. Yeah.
>> What job are you doing in South Africa?
>> Uh I'm cutting hair. Yeah. I'm I'm working at some.
And you said you were using your passport for as a permit.
>> Yeah, I was using my passport before but now it's like the date is off. Yeah, I would say. So the date is off. So I just using the asalam. Yeah, I was using asalam and when it's 3 month every 3 months I renew it. Yeah.
>> So who did not get the memo? Is it that the guy who showed up at the airport didn't get the memo? Now, a lot of people are now saying that is this all just for public show, but really there was no plans made to actually bring back these people or really 300 people registered to be returned back home, but at some point maybe they changed their mind and maybe they preferred to stay back in a xenophobic country than going back to Ghana. Now, prior to this video, Ghana's government did not come out to make any announcement saying that the date has been postponed or that so so so thing happened. Now, it took this video to come out before they now released the statement saying that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to provide an update on the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa, which was scheduled to commence today, 21st May, 2026. The government of Ghana notes that more than 800 Ghanaians have registered with a high commission in pritorial seeking to be evacuated due to the latest wave of xenophobic attacks. Considering the numbers involved and the South African legal conditions that have to be met, including mandatory passenger screening, multi-institutional coordination and flight permits. The planned evacuation has been deferred by a few days to enable our high commission meet these evacuation conditions. Ghanaian and South African authorities have agreed to enhanced and more efficient pre-evacuation modalities to expedite the process. Meanwhile, senior government officials on both sides remain actively engaged on this important exercise. The government of Ghana assured our nationals in South Africa that best efforts are being pursued to ensure their safe return. We commend them for their remarkable understanding and patience. We shall continue to keep the public abed in a transparent and timely manner consistent with our good governance traditions.
So, it took that guy to go to the airport, waited for a flight, and the other 299 didn't show up before the government of Ghana decided to release the statement. Now, that brings me back to the question I asked the first time.
Who did not get the memo? Is it that that guy that showed up at the airport didn't know about this? Because I want to believe that if this is already the situation, why didn't you you have been out there bringing out you know memos and bringing out price per seconds. This is an all important information that the Ghanaians who want to return back home should know. Now you didn't say that oh this new development was communicated to them so that it will not be that is that guy that just showed up without getting the memo because obviously is like this presser that they bringing out now had to come out because South Africans were mocking them saying that oh your your your your nationals would prefer to stay back in a xenophobic country than go back to Ghana that means it's worse back home now that brings me to another conversation that I've seen a lot of times when Ghanaians on social media mock Nigerians who travel because to them it's only Nigerians who are running away from Nigeria are running away from their homes that nobody wants to stay back. This just shows that your country is not El Dorado after all. Yeah. That some Ghanaians would prefer to stay back in wherever they are than go back home.
Like we all are having the same problem.
That's what I'm saying. And you see with all these still going on, that same lady that humiliated that Ghanaian man, you know, that caused all those things is still talking and still being disrespectful.
>> I can promise you there's not there are not there's not going to be peace.
You'll be chased away. Let me let me be clear. We're going to ensure that all of us in Africa, we are all in our uh respective countries and fixing them.
See Ghana now it's one of the largest uh gold producers.
>> Ghanaians are not supposed to be suffering but we we have left it in the hands of the wrong leaders. Now see what they did what your leaders did with um Emanuel >> they made it seem like they are heroes but they forgot that the the reason why Emanuel Emanuel and and your kind are here because of because because they have failed now they they love Ghanaians. They don't love you guys. Cuz if you love your own children, you are not going to let them go look for food next door. You are going to ensure that you provide for them. So they must not come with this.
Cuz even now once they they they hear us complaining again, they'll say, "Hey, xenophobia." No. Your leaders have failed. Ghana leadership has failed. You see, after I saw this video, I saw some Ghanaians still trying to, you know, support this thing that this lady is doing to the national. And I know that they are doing that because they are so embarrassed. They're doing it. They're just basically doing it because they feel so ashamed that that what they do to other people, they're also doing it to their national. So yeah, some of them are pretending to support this. Meanwhile, it's spitting them. Yes. It's embarrassing to them because they always want to compare that their country is so good. That's why Nigerians are running to their country and it's embarrassing to them that even the country that Nigerians are running to their nationals are running away from there and they don't even want to come back home even with all the pe now.
Their government did not even say that they only just bringing them back. Look at the pecs that they listed out that they're going to give the Ghanaians who decides to come back home from South Africa. They said evacuation from South Africa. The government of Ghana announced that all the Ghanaians being evacuated from South Africa due to the ongoing xenophobic attacks shall be entitled to the following. Welcome home financial package, transportation assistance to their various destination across Ghana. Reintegration allowance.
free psycho social support enter into a social database for jobs and startup opportunities with all these things only one showed up 299 others you know they don't want to go back but the Ghana government is saying that they have moved the evacuation date to another day I mean based on that release saying that they now have like 800 and you know something Galians who have registered And some Ghanaians are saying that, "Oh, just because these ones are in South Africa, you want to bring them back home, you want to give them a job or give them jobs." Meanwhile, the Ghanaians who are back home don't have jobs. I mean, I've seen a lot of them, especially their nurses and some other people on social media even crying that they have not been paid. And you want to bring back these ones that jackpad the ones that stayed back to build the country to look for job in the country.
You're not giving them. That's to show that you're you're playing to the gallery. You're doing this for show.
Give the people back home jobs. Now, this is not me saying this are Ghanaians who are saying this that this, you know, overly trying to look like you're performing, it doesn't cut it. And maybe these people who decided not to come back know these tricks and that's why they're not falling for it.
I know some people will come here and say, "Oh, I mean Ghanaian government even tried to bring back their citizens.
What about Nigerian government?" You see, it's only a fool that would think that this South African issue with Nigeria started today. I know how many times Nigerian government have evacuated Nigerians in time past. This is not today. this xenophobic thing started between Nigeria at least. Let me talk about Nigeria and South Africa, right?
It's not today. Yeah. Just look at the years 2019, 2022, 2026.
Even in 2024, airpace air piece a private airline took it upon you know the cost on them to bring back Nigerians back home from South Africa. There was a time he did that and a lot of times Nigerian government have said that you know if you want to come back home go to the embassy go to the high commission in South Africa but you see some things cannot keep happening and you don't want to also save yourself oh South Africa did not the thing happening in South Africa did not start today at some point if you are in South Africa no matter the life you have built you will start like winding Yes, because now if you see the videos coming out, they are they will go to your shop and say close close your shop.
Even you that have you have a shop, you have a permit, they're going to people like that.
So yeah, if you decide to stay there, it's like it's all on you. Now, yes, government take care of your people. No, no doubt about that. But you see, you also should know that if there's an impending danger somewhere, you don't have to stay there. You really don't have to. So Ghana government whether you are doing it for show or you're doing it for real, the bottom line is that you cannot force people who don't who don't want to come back. Okay? You cannot force people who don't want to come back. And this your goodwill you want to do and your people are embarrassing you.
I don't know. And now South Africans are mocking. They're laughing. Look at some of the tweets that some of them you know posted. Miss Petro says South Africa is xenophobic. Okay. Here is a free plane back home and it's ticket. Go back to your country. Patriot news said they now say they postponed the repatriation.
Apparently the guy was the only one who didn't know. Now copied um they talking about the guy at the airport. He now copied their for Ghana's foreign minister. Hman said no one wants to eat half an egg for breakfast. Thousands are fleeing to Europe. I don't blame them for not showing up. Another one said, "Mind you, Ghana promised them all of this, yet they choose to stay in South Africa where the supposed xenophobic attacks are happening.
Sky Dweller said, "This is a major indictment on the disgraced nation of Ghana and West Africa. Your people would rather scramble like rat when the lights are on than return to poverty and chaos of their homeland." South Africa again must bear the burden of African incompetence and failure. Another one said Ghanaians right now this xenophobic is nice. Another one said those slave traders must apologize for calling us xenophobic cuz their rascals are refusing to leave a xenophobic country.
Ghost R saying if they are saying they rather be in a xenophobic country than their own country says a lot about SA.
Another one said, "Absolutely diabolical considering their outrage in past few weeks about the xenophobia in South Africa. Yet none of these hypocrites wants to leave our country when offered a chance to. No one must cry xenophobia after this." And you see, some Ghanaians will still see this and say, "Oh yes, they're telling us to go back to fix our country." You don't know when to differentiate between disrespect and telling people go to fix your country.
No, it's not the one, two, three, four Ghanaians who are in South Africa that will go home and go and fix Ghana. There are almost 36 million people in Ghana who can fix Ghana. So you should see the disrespect here. So it's this few in their country that want to fix Ghana.
The way they will tell the how many Nigerians in South Africa to go home and go and fix your country in Nigeria when we have almost 200 and something million people they're enough to fix the country and they will fix the country. So just see this for what it is disrespect. You just see people on the road you stop them tell them that they should go back to their country to go and fix their country. Like I keep saying the crazy thing is the Ghanaians supporting this because they feel like oh they're telling us to go and fix our country.
Why? Because some of them they will do this. They will do this. And when you see them doing this, I mean South Africa we can even argue that oh South Africa they are developed compared to Nigeria and you know Ghana. But look at it's the same thing with Nigeria.
It's just the same thing. People are running away from their country as well.
And this is to Nigerians who who constantly you know disrespect their country because of the challenges their country is going through.
a Ghanaian will come out and tell you go back to but look they also in another country they don't want to go back to this same country you get what I'm saying so like I just want us to understand that we all have issues that we need to deal with so if you see a Nigerian in Ghana it doesn't mean that the Nigerian ran away from from Niger Nigerian is just living in Ghana and you don't tell them go back home to go and fix your country now how does it feel now they're telling you go back home to go and fix your Meanwhile, that means the 30 something million Ghanaians who are in Ghana cannot fix Ghana. They have to now send tell one person who is cutting hair, a barber or a somebody who does nails, disrespect them to go back home to go and fix their country.
And you guys don't see the disrespect there. Why? Because you want to justify what you do. I'm talking about the Ghanaians. They don't see the disrespect here because they just want to justify what they do to other nationals, right?
See my own is done here. Ghanaian government said in another few days they will go and bring them back. So yeah and nobody should tell me oh what is your own government doing? Nigerian government has made it clear if you want to go back home go and register in the high commission. It's as simple as that.
If you want to go back, fine. They will not force anybody because this one you're forcing people and because you want to create a certain narrative, a public perception, you're forcing people because if they want to come back home, they will come back. None of them they none of them cry that they in distress.
None of them. None of them. Because if for nothing they will prefer that instead of them to come back home, they prefer that you should solve the problem that they are having with South Africans over there than bring them back home.
You understand? So be clear about what they want so that you don't put yourself in a situation where you are ridiculed because you want to be seen as you are performing right. So we've I think Nigerian government they've understood this and they're not forcing anybody and if wherever you're staying if you have a problem you find a way back home or if you don't have the means to go home you can go to the embassy you will you people you form a like you form association if you go back and there is a genuine um need to go back home especially maybe in the face of danger and all of that I'm sure Nigerian government will bring them back home but you would not come out and say because you had to xenophobic attack where are the people meanwhile that your people maybe they want to stay back there. I don't know.
Anyway, guys, what do you think? Let's continue the conversation in the comment section. I see you again in my next video. Bye for now.
