Jane Austen's writing productivity was significantly influenced by her living environment, as she only wrote substantially during her time at Steventon and Chawton, not in Bath or Southampton; additionally, her frustration with the publishing process—specifically the delay in publishing her novel 'Susan' (later Northanger Abbey) after selling it—may have contributed to her creative output, suggesting that both stable living conditions and timely publication are important factors for author productivity.

Was it all about Susan?本站添加:
We've just had the Austin virtual meeting talking about lack of a comfortable home.
Uh one of the things we're talking about is how as we all see that Austin didn't write when she was in Bath and Southampton. She only ever wrote really when she was in Steventon.
And at Chawton. I mean, we know she did write some things.
Uh The Watsons, for example. And I realized though that Susan, what was eventually published as Northanger Abbey, was sold while she was living in Bath.
And then when she's leaving Southampton, she writes that angry little letter uh the publisher referring to herself as Mrs. Ashton Dennis, which people [ __ ] love, by the way. It is pretty funny.
So, I wonder if it might not just be about where she's living and her lack of a home, stable, comfortable, but wanting to know what happened to her book, that maybe she was on a hold partly because the novel that she sold hadn't been published yet.
