Cinema showtime allocation is based on business demand and audience perception rather than personal relationships, meaning films that don't perform well may receive fewer showtimes, making it crucial for filmmakers to actively promote their work and engage with audiences to ensure their films succeed commercially.

PRISCILLA SHINE BRIGHT WITH HER NEW BAG COLLECTION, IYABO OJO MOVIE TOUR, CINEMAS WAHALA追加:
Guys, what in the name of this hotness is this?
Mama came in the streets of China. I bet China is really treating she and her husband and of course Fatima Kambala very very nice. Honestly, she came prepared for her business. So, you're seeing this yellow clutch handbag that she's holding. She now has it in so many shades, so many colors and it's really beautiful. Giving everything it's meant to give. I don't know why people really love the red color. I did not see this yellow. Anyway, she just added this yellow collection to few other colors that she used to have. Honestly, guys, the yellow is really popping. It's giving everything it is meant to give. The yellow and the red. I used to love the red, but it seems like the yellow is now my new favorite color. What do you guys think?
>> [music] >> And let's not forget that Queen Mother is still touring America. So, last night she came out for She came out for Atlanta. Atlanta showed up and showed off. It seemed like it's her first time in Atlanta. She said that.
Guys, the number I keep saying it in every video that I make, the number of people coming out in every city that she goes to quite unreal.
>> because it was it was a movie that we had to really really go all out to to film based on how we shot it 15 years ago.
You know, and it had a very key message in the movie.
What I was trying to pass across was as parents and as the young ones grow, they need to understand that, you know, the decisions we make at your young age might definitely affect your children in your life. And so, we should always put in all our effort to make sure we lead by examples so that our children can be proud of us. They can have a lot of respect for us and you [music] know, we won't find them disrespecting and not you know, listening to us. That was one message. Another thing that we're trying to preach is the act to forgive.
Sometimes very difficult for someone to forgive.
So in every city that Iyabo Ojo goes to, there are different showtimes. They have up to three showtimes, maybe morning, afternoon and evening. Morning showtime, maybe if you are a working person, you just go in watch the movie if you're a fan >> [snorts] >> and you head on with your normal business. Afternoon, she'll just come for a normal meet and greet. You have your popcorn and your drink and what so.
So the evening showtime is the main party. You get to party with her. She take videos, pictures, there'll be food, drinks, a lot of things that planned out. Honestly, her production team, they did a thing there. Her production team, kudos to them because traveling from one city to the other, it's not for the faint-hearted, trust me.
>> So guys, so many Nigerians has appreciated or rather commended Iyabo Ojo's effort in taking her movie abroad to promote because so many movie pro- pro- producers rather that's producers of cinema movies um that are in cinemas currently and now dragging for favoritism. Some people said they're not giving them good movie showtime, that they're giving them downsize showtime.
So about 2 days ago, Jaiye Kuti came online to say "Ajeshopko" "Watijebaje".
I don't really know what she meant by that, but after she capitalized Ajeshopko, some people said maybe she's actually talking about um Bolaji Ogumola's new movie that Bolaji Ogumola's new movie that is in cinema that is named Ajeshopko.
So when she capitalized it and said "Ajeshopko" and she complained that she's out of showtime, that the cinema people are not giving her enough showtime.
And so in the comment section, this person said "Cinema owners are business owners. They give favorable showtime to the most demanded movie. If you don't have enough fan base, you don't have any business with the cinema though.
You will struggle. Hmm."
And after this, Jaiye Kuti replied.
Listen to what she has to say.
>> equity and I saw a lot of acquisition and received a lot of calls from a lot of people. Okay, we all have the voices.
Unfortunately, we use it wrongly. We don't use our voice to where it will make sense, to where the country will become positive and go on, you know, well or the way we want it. Now, I wrote my language Yoruba "Ajeshopko".
Ajeshopko means collaboration.
Ajeshopko "Tifebaje". I'm talking about our collaboration with cinemas. You know, you get to a point you don't even care whatever happens again. I And I said I chose you what you say about it.
I am talking about the cinemas that gave me only average good time for 1 week. And the second week starting, I'm already out of all the good times. And I said that I chose you for what I chose you for what you say about it. And then some Nigerians, some colleagues came for me.
They started abusing me. If you have used that your okay, to talk about what is happening in Nigeria. Go by Nigeria.
You are the reason why we go from city to city. Because when my dad just came out, nobody nobody has to buy rice, indomie or anything. Nobody has to do anything for anybody. Yet they are selling Barbie, ordinary Barbie. They make money by people just watching it.
Tabitha as you can You all know what I'm talking about. You all know I'm not talking about your movie. I am talking about I chose you for That is collaboration. I chose you for what you say about it. It means it's meaning I mean it means our collaboration is going down.
What am I supposed to do with just One time is even like 50% is it was average okay.
And no matter what you everybody keep it.
If you are doing I use super duper. You are the one.
If you were all this our one of us, shall the way we talk about ourselves, put ourselves down.
One Sometimes they will say why did you go to cinema? Who are we Who are you to say who is who goes to cinema? It is better to try than you are not to try at all.
I just got down your jet jet say. I did black speech and I'm on Tell your mom I am at the university. What happened to you?
When all these killings are Where were I chose you for? I chose you for could be in It could mean other things. I'm talking about collaboration.
I'm not calling anybody. If you want us to decide go by My dad just one of the coconut one of the One of the movies coming from abroad, they don't have to do They don't have to use They don't have to use anybody. They don't have to And you know that you want to come for me.
I'm a ball.
If you get it, collaboration.
>> Um first of all, I just want to thank everybody that I sent to the gallery. If you are in the cinemas nationwide, please make sure to catch it. Um Some things have been going on and I I'm really honestly I'll be quiet because there's no need.
Let's just focus on the goal. But, I also understand that it's a an issue of public perception. And also, we are all here to to make money and to actually promote our films as best as we can. And there's the ideology that there is a um there's a favoritism going on with my film and other people's films, and that is not true. Um the showtimes that we that we've got is really pinned on my on my page. You can look at it. There are the places that we had one showtime, the places that we had 10:00, and maybe two other ones. And the way um the way the showtimes are done is based off of um how the perceived the film will do well, how you know how people are talking about the film in in the media space, and how people are reviewing and reacting to the film. It has nothing to do They don't know my father from anywhere. They don't know me from anywhere. It has nothing to do with that. In fact, in other even in places that um a person in my personal distributor a a has cinemas another film has made more showtimes because it's perceived to to be doing well. And that is where it's even even interesting to me because we are not even the problem. We are not the problem. There's another film that is doing ridiculously well, and I'm so happy for them because they've they've put in the work as well.
But, I also don't want to now be in a situation where I you would my film would not be also be sabotaged based off of perception. Um I've It's crazy. I've been to different cinemas in the last 4 days. And you know, for every place we go to, there are like three or four people coming to see other films. And they're even telling people that our film is a part one and a part two. And Chris I'm not historically saying it on this on this video in this video that our film is not a part one and a part two. That film is a standalone film. And people that have seen the film can can attest to it. It's a standalone film that can work by itself. You don't have to see the part one. I know people are telling you that you have to You don't have to see the part one to be able to see this film. It's the story of my family and you know, an existing family, which is our story. It has nothing to do with the first one at all. So, please, because the IP is so strong, we wanted to you know, capitalize on that. That's why it is called Um I just want to put it out there. It has nothing I just want to put it out there. It is our story. It's a you know, there's there's another story. There is Mary's story. This is Mary's story in the universe. It has nothing again because I see canvassers telling people oh, don't watch this one because of this. And I've never even come out to tell anybody not to watch a certain film. You know, because again, it's it's it's um it's it's okay. You can we can all coexist in this in the same place. But, what I would not want is it it would be it would it would be interesting if we are selling. I don't think I've recorded any sold out shows this week.
It's not because I don't want to. So, why would you think that people are people are inviting my show over and over other people? It's not true. It's not true. It's not. I have spent so much money. And I'm a young person trying to make a film. And I look up to a lot of these people. And it feels like how can I how can I I'm just a child, really.
I'm just a young person trying to trying to make ends meet. And it's because If we are going to do it I really really really really I really appreciate our efforts on this project because she she has been amazing. It's only because of the fact that she can she can twist people's arms. If the film is not good people are not going to watch it. And I people that have watched this film under the comment section, please talk. Is it a good film? Is it a film that you can watch alone? I'm not Like if I'm confused. I'm absolutely confused. I'm also pained [laughter] because it feels like I'm not I'm not trying to trying to sabotage anybody's film. But it looks like people are trying to actually I'm about to be jailed. Enjoy.
Kilonde.
I have not done anything wrong. It's not because of me that they're giving short times. It has nothing to do with me. And if your film is not doing well, they will just kick you off. That's why I'm shouting today. That please go out and watch our film because whether you This film that we are shouting about If this week the film does not do well, they will just kick us off the cinemas as well. They will.
They will. IT'S A BUSINESS that they're running. I've got to This is what I'M SAYING. IT HAPPENED TO US.
I DIDN'T COME OUT TO SAY TO THINK THAT ONE PERSON IS is being is being better than the other.
No. I fought my head.
I took my head I gave birth to the driver. I came back again.
IT HAS NOTHING TO do with you. They don't even know me. That's the interesting thing about this thing.
Please I'm Please I'm Please. I want to beg my my fans our family our our well-wishers even my family because I call you guys my family. And people that actually are interested in seeing this film. I just want to tell you guys it's not a part one and a part two film. If you did not see the first one, you can watch this one and you will understand completely completely. People are telling them at the cinema they should not watch it. PLEASE I BEG I CANNOT BE EVERYWHERE AT THE SAME TIME. SO, I'M HERE TO BEG YOU. I'm begging.
If this film doesn't do well this weekend, it's gone. They will also give us terrible showtimes BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY, FOR THE CINEMAS IT'S A BUSINESS. It's a business. And if the person that is not doing well, they will take it out.
I'm begging. THE SHOWTIMES THEY DIDN'T EVEN GIVE ME. CHECK IT. THEY HAD ONE ONE SHOWTIME TWO SHOWTIMES. One showtime two showtimes. It is what it is. There's so many two films in the cinemas as well.
And some of these films have been there for 5 WEEKS. I JUST CAME OUT. I JUST CAME OUT FOR GOD'S SAKE.
PLEASE.
Look at Jesus. I just want to imagine Look at Jesus.
Thank you.
