Corruption is the abuse of power or position for personal benefit, often manifesting as bribery through money, gifts, or special treatment to influence decisions. It can occur anywhere—from workplaces and schools to driving tests and daily life—not just in politics or large companies. Corruption begins with small ethical compromises that normalize dishonesty, gradually eroding fairness and trust in institutions. While individuals bear responsibility, systemic factors can also contribute. To combat corruption, individuals must recognize that pressure to engage in unethical behavior is normal but must be resisted, as bribery can lead to serious consequences like expulsion, lost opportunities, and reputational damage.
