According to new report by the Institute of Economic Affairs in London, the GDP per capita in the United Kingdom is lower than all American states. The reason why this has occurred is because of a strict regulatory environment that has discouraged business, has discouraged work, and has pushed productive capital away. This is due to high taxes, excessive regulations, trade barriers, and welfare policies that discourage work. In order for Utah to remain economically competitive, it must use the United Kingdom as a cautionary tale and understand that capital goes where it's treated best. And if you do not create the conditions for businesses to come and prosper in your state, those businesses will go elsewhere and take jobs, opportunity, and productive capital with them.
