[00:00:03]Welcome back to the channel. So, I'm back with another reaction video. So, there's this woman on Tik Tok who is boycotting the African braiding shops and they're they're scheduling a protest for August 1st uh through 2026 against the African businesses, particularly the African braiding shops. And I want to play why she's doing this. I want to um give you a few examples of people who are having trouble with the African braided shop. I got a part of this video from O'Shea. [00:00:48]Last week, a Nigerian by the name of Prince Soki on Tik Tok went viral for saying something really interesting. If we didn't come here, some of you wouldn't even have that mindset to be trying to endeavor in different type of businesses.

[00:01:03]>> In this case, he's saying if it wasn't for Africans coming to America, black Americans wouldn't even understand, you know, certain kind of businesses. Now, there is a different kind of business that exists, especially amongst women, which are braiding shops. Now, don't get me wrong, women have always had braiding shops in the black community, but for whatever reason, it seems to be a subgenre of braiding called African braiding shops. And I wouldn't know because I haven't had hair since Barack Obama was the president.

[00:01:34]Goti. And these braiding shops are popular, especially amongst uh the East Coast corridor and black cities in the south. And I was on its own site today looking for another story to do when I came across a young lady that's saying this.

[00:01:50]>> I'm making this video because I wanted to support Sha's shelf who is promoting a protest for August 1st complete blackout on African braiding shops, restaurants, and stores. Right. I'm absolutely here for this. I'm showing my support because I do this in my everyday life. I do not shop with the Africans.

[00:02:10]Ain't no African ever braided my hair, put their hands in my head, or none of that, right? I don't do the restaurants.

[00:02:16]I stopped like years ago. I do not shop with their stores. If I walk into a store and I accidentally realize, oo, oh, not for me, right? So, she's encouraging that we do an August 1st protest all through the month of August.

[00:02:31]I think it should continue throughout for the rest of the year, right? Let them really feel the heat, okay? because they are confused about who they are, who we are, and what this is all about.

[00:02:43]>> She's basically saying that I guess Africans are getting it confused of who they are versus who we are. And this is something that I've been seeing circulating around social media where you hear a lot of African people speaking out negatively about black Americans. And they have this disdain in some cases for black Americans, calling them out and and talking about, you know, different things about them. And once again, seems like all this stuff is coming out in lie of this whole the immigration situation where people are being deported and where some people thought that black people were immigrants and they were mad that uh FBAs were not being deported and all these types of things. And it's kind of brought out once again this huge divide and this huge issue that people seem to have with American black people. Let's continue.

[00:03:33]>> They don't seem to want to give us our respect. They they need a wakeup call, right? Because clearly they don't understand that the large majority of why you are even in the space that you're in is because of us and that our dollars are the ones that pay your bills because we've blacked them out. I want to see how many white people going to support y'all, right? I want to see how many of y'all businesses is really going to be able to stay afloat month after month of black people not supporting you. Now, what would y'all do if this is what you saw when you got back from your hair appointment? Is this going to crash out? was valid. Let me stop playing and tell y'all the full story. I had a 7:00 a.m. appointment at this African brain shop that I found online. When I got there, no one was there, and when I tried to call, no one answered. But you know what? I was still very hopeful. I ate my breakfast and just prayed that someone would come and open the shop.

[00:04:19]The moment I was seated, I noticed there was a problem when I brought out my hair. They were talking to each other, but they were speaking in French, so I wasn't understanding what they were saying. But no one said anything to me, so I didn't think it was an issue. But I noticed that there just kept being women that were in and out of my hair. they were struggling and once I got halfway through the hair, I was already hating my hair. This was not the inspo picture I gave them. It was too long and I was just annoyed. And at this point, because of the fact that I know how to do my own hair, I just thought it would be something that I could fix when I get home. So, I just let them finish the hair. And when I got in the car, I was trying to convince myself that I liked it, even though I hated the hair.

[00:04:52]Imagine how more annoyed I was when I got home. And this is what my hair was looking like. I almost lost my mind, y'all. But best believe, the next morning, I called the owner and told her what happened and she told me to come in. She explained to me that the reason why they were struggling is because they don't use any other hair but Freress, but because she wasn't in the shop, the ladies didn't feel comfortable to tell me that. That made me more annoyed because I was fine using Freeress. I just knew that they wouldn't have this color. So, that's why I bought my own hair. Once they finished fixing the hair, I still hated it. But this is a lesson for me because I'm never letting anyone do my hair ever again. Okay, so I'm going to need all my girls who told me to go to the African braid shop to get these knots to come on in here and have a seat because y'all lied to me.

[00:05:31]Y'all, either y'all lied or I just got bad luck because I had the worst experience of my life of ever getting my hair done at the African braiding shop and I will never go back. And see, I just feel like God just continues to make an example out of me because he always shows me that I can't do what y'all do. I can't do what everybody do because how come I go on TikTok and I see everybody getting these braids and they're having the most wonderful experience and oh my god wonderful story times and then it's just me who don't. Okay, so I stick with what I know and I'm not going back and see what's got me down to my last nerve is that people talking about something but the braids are so cute. I don't care if they cute baby. This is not what I asked for. Okay, don't piss me off now. And we're starting to see more videos like this. People are very becoming very vocal about their experiences. People are not being shy about their experiences when it comes to Africans.

[00:06:28]Before these people started getting deported and all that, I didn't hear all this all this rhetoric. I didn't hear African people coming for black people and black people responding. I didn't hear all of this. After all of this, all of a sudden now people got something to say about black Americans and this and that and they thought we were immigrants and because we're not, they're pissed off. I don't know. None of this was happening before all of these deportations. But let's continue.

[00:12:05]>> Before we get to the drama, let's start from the top. I arrived at Coco at 6:45 a.m. Immediately upon arrival, I was greeted at the door. I told the lady exactly what I wanted. She gave me a price, 200 for midnight braids. She then told me it would be 240 for two packs of braiding hair. When I get in the chair, somehow it changed to 280 because it was $40 per pack of human hair. Then it really threw me because she said, "Sister, help me make it quicker." and separate this hair for me. I said, "What the do you mean I have to separate my own hair?" Girl, I came here to relax my nerves. I'm not trying to do work at 7 o'clock in the morning. But here I was separating hair. Amidst that, Helen was slaying my hair as the vendors walk through. And then all of a sudden, this happened.

How did we get to this point is what I'm saying. Why is it that this is happening now? All of a sudden, and I swear before this immigration thing came up, I didn't hear all of this. There weren't all these videos of people going back and forth with each other. So, is was that the catalyst for all of this where now people feel the need to call out black Americans because black Americans are being separated from Africans? like is that I thought that's what people wanted.
