The LEGO Star Wars Boycott… ACTUALLY Worked AGAIN?!

[00:00:00]In August of 2025, one of the most overpriced and controversial Lego Star Wars sets of all time released being the clone juggernaut. Now, as I'm sure you all know, this set was controversial because it was overpriced and pretty much the only positives with this set were the really nice, highly desirable Galactic Marine and Commander Barara minifigures, which are locked behind this $160 payw wall. The build quality for this set was mostly atrocious. The battle droid throwins felt kind of cheap. And $160 is just obviously far too much for what you're actually getting in this set. So, naturally, there was a communitywide boycott for some other August 2025 sets, but mostly the clone juggernaut as it was the most egregious of the bunch. And I already made a video last month, which you guys probably already saw, talking about how this set is now going to retire at the end of the year, the end of 2026 before any other August 2025 set other than the Force Burner snowspeeder, but that's a whole different thing. Anyway, with that being said, the boycott is marked as a pretty big success because of that. But one problem arose from this early retirement date. And I saw a ton of comments on the last video about this.

[00:01:16]And that is that the Galactic Marines in the set are going to raise this set in price. As soon as the set retires, it'll skyrocket on the aftermarket because those Galactic Marines are highly desirable. Not to mention the Commander Bakara and Kymundi also being pretty desirable minifigures in this set. And because there's no alternative to getting these highly desirable minifigures, it seemed pretty much very likely these minifigures and this set in general would go up on the aftermarket and it wouldn't really solve anything.

[00:01:44]This is the only way, the only payw wall that you could get behind to get these Galactic Marines. So, at the end of the day, even if we won the fight with the Lego Star Wars boycott, we kind of lost the war. Or at least some people felt because they couldn't get Galactic Marines for cheap. They wanted a few for their army. And even if you go ahead and buy one of these sets, that's only three Galactic Marines. And many times people want six, 10, you know, a few more than three for your collection, which is understandable. But just yesterday, we got news that in June, a Lego Star Wars magazine will include a Galactic Marine foil pack for free, which is huge news and in my opinion makes the boycott an absolute win. This is another huge win.

[00:02:30]huge moment for the community, which I think we should all be celebrating a bit more than we currently are. And I am super excited to see this minifigure at a more reasonable price. But this also gives us another issue. One of the highest ROI things you can purchase for your LEGO setup is a proper chair. If you're spending hours a day looking for LEGO deals, building sets, or whatever it may be, it's almost a non-negotiable.

If you are not in a country where these magazines typically release, like for example, the United States where I am, you're kind of stuck. like you can't really buy these magazines directly and it just seems kind of bittersweet because you see all these other countries getting amazing deals on these minifigures in these magazines and you seemingly can't do anything. Well, today I'm going to be telling you exactly how you can get your hands on these magazines, on these foil packs, on these minifigures for a very affordable, reasonable price in the United States and literally any other country where they aren't directly available. Firstly, if you want these minifigures like right as they release, I would probably go to eBay. Like, if if you want these on day one, if you want these magazines right away, go on eBay or any other secondhand marketplace where there's international sellers, and you'll be able to find sellers from these countries where the magazines are sold directly selling these on international listings. So, you'll have to pay more shipping, and you'll likely have a few dollars upcharge on the product itself. But you should be able to get your hands on these Galactic Marines for a better price than they currently are. But what is usually a better way to get deals on these foil packs and actually get them available to you very quickly, even right upon release, is to find someone in the community online that lives in one of these countries where they can get magazines directly. Because if you can work with them and ask them to get these in hand and as many as they can and work out a reasonable deal with them, you can get a much better price than you usually find on eBay or other secondhand marketplaces where there's like platform fees and the sellers don't want to sell them to you for a reasonable price. And I actually have some free sauce for you guys. Here is Tyne. I've known him for years. He's a trustworthy buyer and seller and he will have these Galactic Marine foil packs available. He had the recent clone pilot foil packs available or magazines. I don't I don't know what they even are, one or the other. Um, but he had those available recently. And he will indeed have the Galactic Marines available, too. So, make sure to send him a message if you want to work out a deal, see how much he'll be selling them for, what shipping is going to cost, and all of that to see if you can get a pretty good price on these Galactic Marines right away. But even if you use either of those two methods right on release day, right when this foil pack comes out, you probably won't be paying the cheapest price, the most optimal price. But in order to explain that, let's look back to a similar minifigure with the 212 clone trooper. The 212 clone trooper was exclusive to the 2022 ATTE for about a year until the foil pack released which included a 212 clone trooper for around $5 to $6 in countries where it was available. And this obviously brought the price down a ton for the 212 clone trooper. Even in the United States where the magazine wasn't directly available, the 212 clone trooper costs around $13 to $15 in mid 2022. And now in present day, it costs around $7 to $8 in new condition. And you can sometimes find even better deals, which means the magazine itself brought the price down, even in the United States, like 40 to 50%, which is substantial and could save you a bunch of money. But how does that actually compare to the Galactic Marines? Because even if you can now find two 12 full packs for $5 to $6 here in the US on BrickLink, is that actually going to happen with the Galactic Marines? Yes and no. In my opinion, it'll be a very similar situation. We'll see a huge price reduction of like 30 to 50% most likely, but Galactic Marines currently cost around $20, maybe $18 if we're being generous on average, which is a little bit more than the 212 clone troopers cost. If you recall, they were around $13 to $15 before the foil pack and Galactic Greens are around $18 to $20. So, it's a bit different. We can't expect the exact same prices most likely, but if I had to guess, you know, if these foil packs and magazines are produced in big numbers, it will, just like the 212 clone troopers, flood the market and bring the overall international price down, especially on BrickLink. If I had to guess, the Galactic Marines, after maybe 6 months to a year and a half of being in these foil packs and magazines, the overall average price will probably be around $8 at best, I'd say, depending on how much of these are produced. And definitely like $10 to $12, like maximum, I would say, because these magazines and fill packs uh do release for a usually pretty good price, I think, and sometimes people buy them in bulk and get good deals, yada yada yada. So you can find some good sellers on BrickLink. Like this one seller has thousands of 212 foil packs for like $5 each and you can go ahead and buy those in the US and literally get an amazing deal. And I definitely think within a few years time we will see some similar comparable deals for the Galactic Marine, but it won't be quite as good because like I said, it's starting out with a disadvantage. It's currently priced a bit higher than your 212 clone ever was.

[00:08:59]But regardless, you can still expect these Galactic Marines to be a heck of a lot more affordable than they currently are.
