This video demonstrates that workplace theft, even by a new employee on their first day, can result in serious legal consequences including criminal charges, probation, and restitution to the victimized business. The case shows how law enforcement investigates theft allegations, how suspects may attempt to evade investigation, and how courts impose sentences that include both punitive measures (jail time) and restorative elements (restitution and rehabilitation programs).

Y'all doing your popping tags thing. Uh, but yeah, one day and you're stealing out the drawer. That is crazy.
And you're showing your face. That's insane.
>> What's wrong with you?

>> Yes, she is not. She can leave.
>> Hey, listen.
>> She is not detained.
>> She's making an allegation. Hey, look.
You may not be possessing that spirit of crack. Okay, you and your man, okay? But I'm telling you, e, even if you are, or even if you're not, you're not going to get nowhere. You're not going to get too far with a gentleman like this.
Gentleman, I'll use that term very, very loosely. You know what I mean? This man about to make it way worse.
>> Can I get some crazy?
>> Is it?
>> Take it off.
>> [ __ ] it's still a $500.
>> YOU NEED TO STAY HERE.
>> THAT'S CRAZY.
>> LISTEN, we're going to obstruct. Are you going to obstruct this investigation?
>> She can't stay here.
>> Why is she running away, dude?
[laughter] >> Stop. Sheriff's office. Stop.
>> Marshall, where' she go?
>> STOP. SHERIFF'S OFFICE, STOP.
STOP. GET ON THE GROUND NOW. GET ON THE GROUND NOW.
>> I DID NOTHING WRONG.
>> I DID NOTHING.
>> GIVE me the chal for a second. Get on the floor now. I'm going to tase you.
>> I did nothing wrong.
>> Put your hands behind your back.
>> I did nothing [laughter] wrong.
>> We could tell.
>> Other way, you're running Marshall.
>> Where my old man at?
>> I don't know.
>> Where my old man?
>> I did nothing wrong.
>> Stop.
>> I'm just going to get outside. I'm not going to run.
>> No, you're not going to go anywhere.
>> Where's my old man at?
61. I have one detained.
>> And I wonder, you know, they got kids, dog. This a smoker couple. That's what this is.
>> Clear 100. I just need one more unit priority. Please >> my old man in. Please. I did nothing wrong. Can I stand up at least?
>> Stop.
>> I just want to shut up. Please.
>> You're not going to run away.
>> I'm not going to run. But I did nothing wrong.
>> You just did run. Okay.
>> I'm sorry about that.
>> Okay. Why? But what?
>> That's okay. Hold on. Let me make these more comfortable.
>> Okay. Oh, they got you on camera.
>> Like the channel. Subscribing helps keep this narrator fully caffeinated.
>> I heard that.
>> Yeah. Hey, Police Ride Alons. They do have a good channel, man. So, I want you guys to go peep them out.
>> My old man.
>> I need to call my >> Okay, we're going to get there.
[laughter] >> Yeah. 2 a.m.61. I have another male subject that's pretty irate in front of McDonald's who's going to be related to her.
Where my old man at?
>> Sit down.
>> Okay.
>> I don't know where he went. Sit down.
>> Okay, sir. Calm down.
>> Just calm down. But I don't >> But you don't run from us.
>> I did nothing wrong.
>> Okay.
>> After a bit, her old man would wander over.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Hey, stay over there. Don't come over here.
>> HEY, CALL ME.
>> NO. STAND OVER THERE. CALL ME.
>> Stand over there. Stand over there.
Don't walk over here. Oh boy.
>> How is he related to you?
>> He's my old man.
>> Okay. Does he used to work at McDonald's, too?
>> No.
>> Okay. All right.
>> This statement was actually true.
>> Is that other gentleman in the red hat involved in all? I mean, besides standing in the door, >> man, but he is involved. That that was the play is to is to get a job and steal out the register is is, you know, get as much as you can. So, he is involved.
It's just unfortunate, you know what I mean? That he put her up to this [ __ ] is what I think. But they're a smoker couple, so they're gonna find a way to do what they need to do to get the dope.
So, whatever. I'm sure he does [ __ ] and breaks laws, too. I'm sure she not the only one that does it. It's a joint effort.
>> After her, came up here. Yeah. No, >> he's not involved at all.
>> Okay.
All right. 261. He's walking away towards the Paradise Bay Shopping Center sign. The next unit that comes 97, we need to go ahead and secure him for now.
So far, >> he hasn't done nothing wrong.
>> Well, we're going to figure that out cuz he he obstructed me.
>> Oh, don't say no.
>> He got in my way when I was trying to come and >> I apologize. Don't do that to him. Don't do it to him, please.
>> Okay.
>> It wouldn't be long before another officer arrived on scene.
>> What's going on, dude? I was just with a girl. I ain't do nothing wrong. I was just with my girl trying to help out.
That was I was on the phone with you guys arguing or something.
>> Hell no. She went there and they I brought her there.
They accused her of >> something. She worked there for McDonald's.
>> Yeah. They accused her of something.
Something like the officer saying, "Hey y'all just stay." I'm like, "Hey, I DON'T GOT TO STAY. I'M NOT DOING I brought her up here."
>> Okay.
[clears throat] >> Walk this way.
Well, guess not. Give me my head. I'm sorry.
>> Do you like what? You ran from me.
>> I said I was sorry.
>> Okay. All right. You were sorry.
>> No.
>> Well, I'm in front of McDonald. The other male suspect uh >> is in front of the liquor store. Fair liquor store.
>> He pulled up. We walking out and he's like, "Hey, hold on. Are you Did you used to work here?" She's like, "Yeah."
And then we walk back in there. The manager came trying to trespass her or something. Maybe >> I don't know.
>> That's what I'm saying. What does McDonald's want to do with her?
>> I don't know.
>> Oh, you don't know?
>> I really don't know.
>> Stop pulling on me like >> No, I have to hold on to you because you ran from me.
>> You just did.
>> Stop being burning, sir.
>> So, the officer, my girl, leave out and just go to running and then >> for what? I don't know, bro. All I know is >> when I came around I see him got her. SO I'M LIKE HEY MAN DON'T YOU KNOW HE LIKE NO DON'T COME UP CLOSER. So I didn't come closer.
>> I think it's a big misunderstanding.
>> Yeah. I don't know why you ran out on me sir. I ain't do nothing.
>> I ain't do [ __ ] I'll be in splash.
>> More officers would arrive on scene, but like all the napkins at the bottom of a fast food bay, they weren't really needed.
>> Yeah.
>> The officer with Mr. Red Hat then radioed over to see what was going on.
>> Mr. Red Hat. at McDonald's.
>> The redheaded gentleman >> leave this guy pretty much >> the way it >> 54. As long as he doesn't come back over here while we're doing our investigation, we can cut him loose.
>> He didn't come back, leaving his lady friend behind.
>> Well, I mean, this is just what it is.
I'm not I don't know that he just really put her up to this [ __ ] I'm saying this is what they do as a couple. So, he ain't really leaving her, but ain't [ __ ] they can do. I bet you the 500 is already spent. Uh, if it ain't spent, it's about to be because they gonna have to bail her out.
>> Open.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Get her in search. What's that?
>> Not really. You should just go to jail.
Yeah, I'm on too.
>> Sounds good.
>> Okay, I'm back.
>> I'm sorry.
>> You're fine. So, she's obviously she's in custody. I just need to talk to whoever called.
>> It's me. I So, um I already made the report.
>> Okay.
>> But and I sent like um she put her hand in here over five times. So, you'll watch till she takes the money from the customer.
>> Crazy.
>> And then she you'll see.
>> Is there a way you can send that to me?
Sent it >> when I went down there because she left that day when they counted down. But it's a total of 500 in total for that day.
They over there behind me.
>> Okay. Where are they?
>> 1098.
>> What kind of shoes are you are for the night?
>> Because we've made the sandals a bit of a cliffhanger, we wanted to show you that the officers did in fact find them.
>> Oh, all around you.
>> That's nice. How about that?
The officer charged her with petty theft and resisting without violence. She would plead no contest to the charges several months later and be sentenced to 6 months probation and be required to complete the ARK program. However, the court would later modify the sentence to just sending her to jail for 15 days, maybe due to an issue with completing the ark.
>> Right. Right. somebody who has had chance after chance after chance after chance, been in rehab, kicked out of rehab, went back to rehab, finished it, went, you know what I mean? Those type of people that have had chances to get clean, especially if they're at this age, there's plenty of places for you to get clean if that's what you want to do.
You got to want to do that. And good move. Good move by them. Let's get you out. Go ahead. Do two weeks in jail.
Let's get somebody else in who wants to get clean. you in the way.
>> She was also ordered to pay McDonald's restitution of $499.
Thanks for watching. See you on the next ride on Do you think she's gonna get the restitution out the way?
I don't know. Hopefully. Hopefully.
Hopefully her and her man get clean. But again, guys, like two smokers can stay together. And I don't KNOW THAT THEY'RE SMOKERS. WE don't have that proof, but [ __ ] that's what I think. Could be wrong. Don't think I am. Um, but two smokers, they could be together forever, but lord lord, let's say she gets clean and he doesn't or let's say he gets clean and she doesn't, you know what I mean? So, it's uh unfortunate. I think people should be able to get as high as they want to get, do whatever you want to do. Um, but when you get to doing [ __ ] like this, that's when it's a, you know, that's when the rest of the that's when it's everybody business what you do at that point. So, whatever. Let me know what you guys think. I'll be back soon.
Peace.
