She Said Allah is A Women

[00:00:05]Why did Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala refer to himself as he? Can we not also refer to him as she?

[00:00:10]Brothers and sisters, this is not just a language discussion, but rather a discussion about aqidah.

[00:00:17]One's doctrine, his belief system, right? Orthodoxy.

[00:00:22]What do you believe about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala?

[00:00:24]Right? This is what the discussion is about. So, I want to inshallah ta'ala mention 10 points very very quickly inshallah ta'ala starting with the following.

[00:00:34]A message to the sisters, right? I want to say something that is very very important here.

[00:00:39]Some sisters may have experienced of zulm, oppression.

[00:00:42]The religion being misused, misappropriated, [music] weaponized, being treated unfairly, and that pain is real. But understand this clearly, Islam is perfect and Muslims are not. Right? I like the analogy of someone who's driving recklessly. That's all the car's fault. That's the driver's fault.

[00:01:02]>> [music] >> And same applies here as well. If someone used religion to harm you, that is their wrongdoing, not al-Islam. And the solution is not to change the religion of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

[00:01:14]The solution is to learn it properly, not to reject it. Because when you learn your deen, you will know your rights, you can stand up for yourself, and even in the court of law, legally my brothers and my sisters, oppression would be dealt with harshly. Right? The oppressor is reprimanded. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala commands justice and excellence, >> [music] >> and he forbids wrongdoing. Inna Allaha ya'muru bil-adli wal-ihsan.

[00:01:40]Right? [music] I always say this my brothers and sisters at the beginning of the lectures that I deliver or the courses, the workshops [music] about feminism. I start off by speaking about the rights that a woman is entitled with. Because many a time, if these rights are not known, whether it is the sister herself who's being oppressed or the man who's causing the oppression, right?

[00:02:04]Violations are carried out.

[00:02:06]Boundaries are overstepped, right? And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, my brothers and my sisters, >> [music] >> has spoken about oppression time and time again, right? The punishment of the oppressor begins even before the hereafter.

[00:02:19]Allah strips them of the greatest blessing a person can have, and that is his love, his guidance and true success.

[00:02:27]Allah said in the Quran, "Wallahu la yahdi al-qawma al-dhalimin." Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people, right?

[00:02:34]Leaving them in misguidance and darkness.

[00:02:37]And no matter how powerful they may appear, their end is sealed as Allah Azza wa Jalla declares, "Innahu la yuflihu al-dhalimun."

[00:02:44]Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.

[00:02:47]And more importantly, my brothers and my sisters, >> [music] >> right? Learning the names of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, his mercy, his justice, his wisdom, this will help you heal.

[00:03:22]Just because you don't have the answers, that doesn't mean there aren't any answers. And not everything that you hear on social media has substance, even if it sounds convincing. And it will sound convincing if you don't study, right? So, don't take your understanding of Allah Azza wa Jalla from viral clips, emotional arguments, or trending ideas.

[00:03:41]Learn your deen properly, right? Number three, my brothers and my sisters, I want you all to really understand what's actually happening here. There There a pattern.

[00:03:51]It doesn't just start with why does Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala refer to himself as he?

[00:03:56]It starts earlier than that, right? As you guys can see on screen, this meme goes viral every now and again. It's been going viral for the last 6-7 years, right?

[00:04:05]It starts off with these generalizing sweeping statements such as all men are oppressive. All Muslim men are oppressive, right? Men are trash.

[00:04:14]Look what the messenger of Allah said.

[00:04:23]The worst of those who fabricate in the eyes of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is someone, my brothers and my sisters, who disses another with lines of [music] poetry. You know today, my brothers and my sisters, how you have diss tracks?

[00:04:34]Once upon a time they had poetry diss tracks, if you want to call it that, where they would make poetry and start dissing one another.

[00:04:42]The messenger of Allah is saying one disses another, right? And then he ends up dissing or making poetry lines of dissing his whole tribe, his whole tribe.

[00:04:53]Sweeping statements, my brothers and my sisters. Likewise, when a man says it, right? Makes these sweeping statements about women. Are you ready, my brothers and my sisters, to take the number of women who are on the face of this earth, if we were to count that, we're looking at maybe what, 3 and 1/2 billion?

[00:05:10]All of these bad deeds having insulted 3 and 1/2 billion on your scale of bad deeds just once like that.

[00:05:18]And the same applies to our sisters as well.

[00:05:21]There are more men than women.

[00:05:24]You would take the number of sins of all these men that are on the face of this earth on your scale of bad deeds.

[00:05:30]Then, my brothers and my sisters, it moves on to we can't trust male scholars.

[00:05:35]Right? Making these blanket statements.

[00:05:37]There might be one or two, let's just say three, maybe even more, right? Out of the millions that are out there that have misappropriated. They have misused. It's not right to brush everyone with the same brush.

[00:05:53]And then my brothers and my sisters, why were all prophets men, which is also true.

[00:05:59]Right? And then eventually my brothers and my sisters, why does Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala refer to himself as he?

[00:06:05]You see what's happening here my brothers and my sisters? It's a progression from questioning people to belittling and counseling scholars, those who are carrying the religion of Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala, then questioning Allah himself.

[00:06:18]Right? Being boisterous towards Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala. And that is extremely [music] extremely dangerous.

[00:06:26]We're talking about my brothers and my sisters bordering on Islam.

[00:06:29]Uttering statements like this my brothers and my sisters is actually disbelief. It's very very serious. And I'm not saying anyone who's uttered these statements have left the fold of Islam.

[00:06:38]Because not everyone that falls into Kufur becomes a Kafir.

[00:06:41]Right? I'm not calling anyone Kafir, but I am showing you the seriousness of what one is flirting with.

[00:06:49]Right?

[00:06:51]Sometimes our sisters, they say things out of ignorance.

[00:06:55]So there's a process >> [music] >> that Islam teaches us to go through before one is declared a disbeliever.

[00:07:01]But without a shadow of a doubt, it is Kufur.

[00:07:04]It is serious and I'm going to detail that a little bit in sha Allah Wa Ta'ala in a moment.

[00:07:08]Number four my brothers and my sisters, when we look at this argument, right? The whole entire premise is wrong.

[00:07:16]Right? Let's deal with the actual claim itself. People say, "Arabic uses he, but it's gender neutral, so why not change it to she?"

[00:07:26]Right? First understand this properly my brothers and my sisters, the Quran was revealed in Arabic. As Allah tells in the Quran, inna ja'alnahu Quranan Arabiya.

[00:07:34]Right?

[00:07:35]Also Allah Azza Wa Jalla says, inna anzalnahu Quranan Arabiya.

[00:07:41]>> [music] >> Indeed we sent it down as an Arabic Quran.

[00:07:44]It was initially sent down upon the Arabs in a way that they could fully understand.

[00:07:50]So, it follows how their language works.

[00:07:54]Right?

[00:07:56]Look at this key linguistic principle in Arabic, my brothers and sisters.

[00:08:00]The masculine form, al-mudhakkar, like huwa, is used in three cases.

[00:08:06]The first time, my brothers and sisters, for something that is clearly male. For example, now I say huwa ja'a ila al-bayt. He came to the house.

[00:08:15]Who came? Muhammad [clears throat] or Sa'id or Abdullah.

[00:08:19]Secondly, my brothers and [music] sisters, for something where the gender is unknown. Like, for example, when someone knocks the door.

[00:08:25]Right? If you don't know if it's a man or woman, you're going to say man al-tariq.

[00:08:31]Right? Man al-tariq.

[00:08:33]Tariq here is the one that's knocking.

[00:08:36]Right? But he doesn't have a ta' marbuta which changes it to feminine.

[00:08:41]But you don't know who he is, so you use the masculine form.

[00:08:47]And thirdly, my brothers and sisters, and this is the key here.

[00:08:50]The masculine form is used for anything that is not male or female.

[00:08:56]And that's the point here. Allah Azza wa Jalla, we cannot say about him that he is a male.

[00:09:01]Nor can we say about him that he is female. So, Allah Azza wa Jalla refers to himself, right? Using the pronoun huwa.

[00:09:09]Because it is the default form.

[00:09:11]And because Arabic, my brothers and sisters, has no neutral pronouns.

[00:09:15]Right?

[00:09:17]It's important also, my brothers and sisters, to know the following. Allah told us about the angels, right? Who he referred to in this particular way.

[00:09:26]Allah Azza wa Jalla condemned those who assigned gender incorrectly to those angels.

[00:09:34]Like Allah Azza wa Jalla, he says innal ladhina la yu'minuna bil akhirah.

[00:09:38]Those who don't believe in the hereafter They start giving the angels feminine names.

[00:09:48]Right?

[00:09:50]What does Allah say after that?

[00:09:52]Right?

[00:10:01]Right? They're just following speculation. They're just following empty thoughts.

[00:10:05]And speculation and rumors has no place when it comes to the truth that we should be following. Allah also says They made the angels female.

[00:10:20]Right?

[00:10:22]So we do not assign gender where Allah didn't.

[00:10:26]Another key rule, my brothers and my sisters, the feminine form is specific.

[00:10:28][music] You only use it when something is clearly female. Even in groups, if there is one male right?

[00:10:35]one man amongst a bunch of women, my brothers and my sisters, we still use the masculine pronoun. That's the Arabic language for you.

[00:10:45]Right? Likewise, my brothers and my sisters, if there is one male, you must use the masculine form. This is why Allah says Successful are the believers. This includes men and women, not just men.

[00:11:00]When Allah said the believers were successful right?

[00:11:05]Allah is referring to both men and women.

[00:11:09]Right? Not just men.

[00:11:11]I hope that's clear.

[00:11:12]Unless Allah like the famous verse that many people love to recite, here Allah mentions the male believers, the female believers. But if it's mentioned by itself because there is men amongst the women the masculine pronoun is used.

[00:11:28]>> [music] >> So how does Allah I will to himself? This is a chapter that most of us have memorized. Qul hu Allahu Ahad.

[00:11:36]Say that he is Allah, one. This is Surat al-Ikhlas, my brothers and sisters.

[00:11:41]Equal to 1/3 of the Quran. We recite it all the time.

[00:11:45]Right? So, how are we making basic schoolboy errors?

[00:11:49]Right? My brothers and sisters, Allah Azza wa Jal, he also tells us about himself.

[00:11:53]Laysa kamithlihi shay' wa huwas Samee'ul Baseer. There is nothing like Allah Azza wa Jal.

[00:11:59]So, how are we now comparing Allah Azza wa Jal to a man? This is the first mistake.

[00:12:04]Right? This now shows you the importance of studying about Allah Azza wa Jal, classical orthodoxy or aqidah, my brothers and sisters.

[00:12:11]The primary objective of learning aqidah is not to debate.

[00:12:14]It's to learn about your creator.

[00:12:18]Right? This is why I encourage you all, learn about Allah Azza wa Jal's names and his attributes for the sake of knowing who he is. He also says, wa lillahi al-mathal al-a'la, and to Allah belongs the highest description. I'm using the verses, my brothers and sisters, that we recite all the time.
