Why Didn’t PSA & TAG Post Their Shutdown on Instagram?Added:
What's happening YouTube? It's Simon for 66 cards and today we're going to talk about all the grading companies shutting down. But I'm going to take a bit of a different angle on this and talk about the social media strategy around how this was announced because I noticed something very very interesting or at least it's interesting to me perhaps you might not think so. I already made my thoughts known in my YouTube video yesterday and plenty of content creators have talked about the fact that the companies grading companies are shutting down. So, you know, there's plenty of content out there for that. But this specifically is about the social media strategy.
As you can see, PSA is announcing that their value tiers are shutting down for the foreseeable future. And here is a Twitter post saying essentially that. If we go over to tag, yes, tag bots, this applies to you. Same thing here. Express is now closed.
They're shut down essentially. And so again on Twitter, they have very clear explanations on what's going on and why they're shutting down. And click here for more news and and information. Very great. Makes sense. Now, let's go to Instagram. Let's take a look. All right.
So, here is tag and if we click on the tag logo to see their stories stories, you can see right here due to incredible demand yada yada yada express is now closed. Essentially saying the same thing as you saw here. Okay. All right.
That's pretty straightforward. And let's see if PSA did the same thing. Here's PSA. If I click on the logo to see their stories. Here we go. Significant surge.
yada yada yada backlog 10 million cards blah blah blah blah blah we are temporarily pausing new submissions so again it's in their stories just like it was for tag and it reflects the same language as you would see on Twitter for both PSA and tag great now let's see the Instagram post for this on let's start with PSA and uh um where where is the Instagram post for this why Where is it? Why doesn't it exist at all? Like, what's up with that? It's not here.
Well, what what about tag? They they Oh, I don't see it here anywhere. But you guys already are okay with posting it.
You posted the story and the update on Twitter. Why wouldn't you post it in a permanent post instead of a story that disappears after 24 hours? You did it for Twitter. Why don't you do it with an IG post, too, to maximize the number of people who are informed of this very newsworthy event?
Like, I feel like potential customers would want to know that you shut down.
And why is it that the most important topic regarding your company can't be found as an IG post on your page, but they can be found everywhere else on Instagram from all of the YouTube content creators. Here's Sports Card Investor. Here we go. PSA is pausing submission levels for for value. Here's Neo cards and comics. PSA pauses value tiers here. sports cards. Nonsense.
Here's Gio with three different videos about it on Instagram. And yet, I don't see anything on the two companies themselves. Why do I have to go to other content creators to find out news about your company? Doesn't that seem backwards? And if you scroll down here, you can see uh again, this is on the PSA card Instagram account. You can see here all of this is fluff. All of this is fluff.
It's essentially propaganda. And if you scroll down and look at tag, it's essentially the same thing. And so I guess the question I have for the people running the social media strategy at TAG and at PSA again, it's not just PSA, it's TAG and PSA is, are you that dedicated to your social media strategy of only putting out positive propaganda on your Instagram post that you refuse to give people actual newsworthy posts?
Is that what we're doing here? Like you you realize you could post this and then when the shutdown ends, you could delete the post afterwards, right? Like if someone wasn't online, maybe they were busy at work, maybe they were on vacation, maybe they were just decided to take a break and they would only used Instagram and didn't use Twitter, they wouldn't know about this unless they followed, you know, SCN, SEI, DO, those type of channels. But if you're just like a casual person in the hobby, you're not someone who's like in the weeds, engaged on a daily basis, you might actually miss this news because PSA and TAG refuse to post about something extremely newsworthy about their company. I just find that extremely extremely odd. and and you're essentially forcing people to use the cesspool that is Twitter to get news.
And I mean, I wouldn't blame someone if they didn't have a Twitter account given how wild and kind of just Yeah, it's just a cesspool. Like I I don't know if I would want someone under the age of 18 on there.
And so I just I don't understand why the both of these companies, both TAG and PSA, refuse to just create an Instagram post saying that they're shut down.
They're obviously not opposed to announcing it because it's on Twitter and it's an Instagram story, but they can't ruin the beautiful paradise. This this this Instagram post or these this Instagram account can't be sullied by any bad news. It can only be this alternate reality where everything is is lovely and wonderful and kumbaya.
That's what the Instagram page is is for. That's what the Instagram account is for. We can't have bad news on here like you can actually submit cards to the company right now at a bunch of the levels. So, I just found that extremely interesting that uh it's not just one company, it's both TAG and PSA doing the exact same thing. Um yeah, and that's really Oh, why am I following Tag? Get out of here. I don't want to follow them.
unfollow. Must have hit that button accidentally. Uh, all right. Anyways, would love to hear your thoughts and comments down below. Thank you as always for listening and watching. I'll talk to you all soon. Cheers.
