all the romance series I'm in the middle of 📖 | will I continue them?Added:
I was not suspended anywhere. The suspense was lacking. The insta lust was there. No, but I love the covers, so I'm keeping it.
I don't even want to talk about it.
What is up, [ __ ] Welcome back to my channel. As you can see, we have a stack of books here. And a few weeks ago, I went through all of the fantasy and romanty series that I'm currently in the middle of and whether or not I would be continuing. So today, hang on. I feel like I have like way too many books in the way right now. So today, I figured it would be fun to go through all of the contemporary romance and dark romance series I'm in the middle of or have started and whether or not I will continue them. This is just all of the physical copies I have of these series.
I don't typically keep series like I usually will donate them once I've decided I'm not going to continue. So, some of these books I am going to be donating, which is good because I need to and I just went to the bookstore and spent some money on books because we are back in our romanty era, guys. I'm currently rereading When the Moon Hatched because when I first read it, I was in the worst slump and I just could not get into it. And it's one of those books that has always eaten away at my psyche in terms of I don't know if you guys ever have this, like I'm such a mood reader and when I get into slumps, it completely changes my perspective on a book. doesn't happen all the time, but it's it's kind of like that. I know if I wasn't in a reading slump when I read this, I feel like I would have loved it.
So, I'm already started it. I'm like 120 pages in and I'm already loving it so much more. Anyway, let's like rapid fire go through these. You seem to like it when I did it last time. This also helps me get rid of books because I need to do that. And then there's more on my list.
I don't know if I I will have the energy to go through them all that I have on my list, but starting with the Gods of the Game series by Anna Hang. This is her sports romance series and there's two books out. The third book is coming out later this year and I have read both of them. I gave each of them The Striker and the Defender two stars. They're just boring. Like they're so bland and boring. But book three is Single Dad.
So, you know, it's interconnected standalone. You know, I'm going to read it. You know, I'm going to read it.
Like, I have to read The Single Dad. So, yeah, I'm going to continue it. Even though these books are so boring, I'm I'm just going to hold out hope. I just feel like Anna Hong is that author for me that no matter what, I'm going to read her books. Like, it just is what it is. Oh. Oh, the DC Star series. This is my favorite hockey romance series of all time. I'm holding up I think this is book five. The first book is The Fake Out. No, no, it's not. It's Face Off.
This series like this is I am so obsessed with this series. Every single book is four and a half and five stars.
Every single one. It's interconnected standalone hockey romance, found family.
Amazing, amazing FMC's. They're all in positions of power. Like such baddies, confident like men who are so pathetic and worship the ground their women walk on. You have amazing female friendships.
Everything about this series. There's two more books coming out. I think the next book comes out in June. Oh, I'm so excited. So, yes, definitely. The Windsor series. I'm holding up. I only have one book. I've read three books in the year. I've read the first three books. This is book two. The Temporary Wife, The Wrong Bride is book one. I'm only holding I only have this one because this is the only one I loved in the series. This was so good. This is like billionaire romance. They're all interconnected standalone billionaire romances. The Wrong Bride I absolutely hated. This I loved. And then I read book three and I didn't like it at all.
So it's just one I'm not going to continue. But The Temporary Wife is so good. Like I highly recommend it. He's also her boss. I love this book and you can just read it on its own. Oh, one I don't have I don't own but the Lord series. This is dark romance. I've only read the ritual. The Ritual is their interconnected standalone dark romances.
The Ritual is one of my least favorite books of all time. Like I want people to think about that book and be like, "Oh, I know Mariana is that book's number one hater. I [ __ ] hated that book with everything I have." So, no, I won't be continuing. I don't care. Like, I do I do not care. I don't care that the other books follow other couples. I do not care. I hated it. I hated it. Just wasn't for me. It's not that it was too dark. It wasn't for me. I don't like dark romance where literally every other chapter is them doing the naked twister.
totally removes me from from it. And they had no chemistry. Like it was insta lust. They never went went out on a date. Like in my head they're fully divorced. Like they did not last. I I did not. No. No. The strikeouts. Oh my god. This is a part of the New York Monarchs. This was single dad nanny. And I gave this three stars, which is surprising because that's one of my favorite tropes. This is a sports romance interconnected standalone. This was so forgettable to me. I have no desire to continue it like whatsoever.
So I'm going to put this in my donate pile. Okay, then we have the Spoons. Is what's this called? The Spoons series.
Is that what it's called? Anyways, this book is left of forever by Tara Duet.
And this is another interconnected standalone small town romance. This is book two and I didn't read book one and then cuz you can read them out of order.
And then I think book three is coming out this year. This is one of was one of my favorite contemporary romance reads of the year. This was five stars. I'm in love with this. This is Second Chance Marriage. They go on a road trip um to bring their son to college and they like try to repair their relationship. This is amazing. I'm obsessed with this. I will definitely be continuing this. I just don't know don't know when. Okay, then we have Longot by Kennedy Ryan.
This is the Hoop series. This is a another interconnected standalone sports romance series. This is one of my favorite contemporary romance books ever. It is so heavy. It covers um domestic abuse, so know that going in. I sobbed my eyes out. Um, it was really hard for me to read as someone who was a victim of domestic violence and abuse in the past. Um, so there were some scenes that I had to skim over. Um, but this is still a beautiful story. I loved this. I did read the second one. The second one was not for me, but I do want to read the third one. So, I will be continuing this one. The Perfectly Imperfect series. This is not the first book. The first book is Painted Scars. I believe there are 12 books in this series and they're so short as you can see. This is dark mafia romance and this series it is one of those just like shitty bingeable crack series where like I gobble it up.
I I'm obsessed in a way that it's like this is like a four star series, right?
Some of them actually I think I gave two five stars but a vibes read five stars.
Like are these good books? I'm not going to say that. Good time. Yes. There's like two or three that I hated, but there's two more out that I haven't read and I will definitely be reading them.
They're really good. This series is perfect if you're like in a slump and you like dark romance and you want like a good, fun, easy read. The Game Changer series. Oh my god, I'm having flashbacks to Heated Rivalry. So, in the Game Changer series is Heated Rivalry in the Long Game, of course, which I have read.
So, that's um Ilia and Shane's books.
It's MM Hockey Romance. I have read their books so many times it's not even [ __ ] funny. I also read book one, game changer, and I read what the [ __ ] other book did I read? I know I have it and I loved it and I loved it. Role Model obsessed with role model. So, there's two out that I haven't read yet.
Tough guy and Common Goal. And I haven't decided cuz I've heard really mixed reviews about the others. So, I haven't decided yet if I'm going to read the other two. This is my This is my everything. This is my obsession. Oh, speaking of MM romance, the Leight and U series that is one of my favorite sports romance series. It's also interconnected standalones. I am obsessed with this series. Oh, it's so spicy and so good. I have one more book left to read. If you are looking for a good, fun, spicy MM romance with the couples that have so much chemistry and tension and the found family is also so good. I love these books so [ __ ] much. I have one more book left to read and I'm definitely continuing. I just don't own it because the covers are well, you can see the covers. So, oh, Bad Bishop. What is this series called?
This is by LJ Shun. I don't know. But this is dark mafia romance. There's two books out. Bad Bishop, Twisted Pawn. Bad Bishop, one of my favorite mafia books of all time. Five stars. One of my favorite dark romance books of the year.
It's sick and twisted. I don't give a [ __ ] Tieran Callahan.
I love a funny psychopath who just like feels nothing, but he feels everything for her. Okay, so I was obsessed with this twisted pawn. I gave three stars.
It was average. It was entertaining. I'm obsessed with the mafia plot in this and the mafia world and all of the side characters. So, I'm so invested in it, even though I wasn't the biggest fan of the the couple in book two. The next book, so I'm continuing this. Yes, of course. And the next book coming out is mm romance and he's in the mafia and then his love interest is the FBI agent trying to lock him up. Oh my god, I fully forgot to say like I don't even know if you could you could tell. I I just got my eyebrows tinted and like shaped and stuff, so that's why my eyebrows look [ __ ] insane. Um they're so dark and they look crazy. So, that's that. Anyway, what the [ __ ] is this series called? Okay, Beautiful Venom by Reena Kent. Book two is Sweet Venom. And then the third book that is coming out soon, I think Tempting Venom, and it's her So, the first two books are MF romance. And then her the third book that's not out yet is MM Beautiful Venom and Sweet Venom. It's dark hockey romance. I was just bored. Like, they didn't really do anything for me. But the third book, Reena Kent's MM romance books, like she cooks with MM romance.
And I am so invested in the couple for book three. So, I'm definitely reading book three. I have very high hopes that I'm going to love it. Even though these two books were just Okay. And then obviously, like I feel like I don't even have to say it, but Boys of Tommen, this is my favorite series of all time. I can't think about it for too long because I am Lizzy and Hueie are my favorite fictional couple of all time.
Their book is releasing 10. And how that ended, I'm not kidding when I say I think about them every single day, multiple times a day. It haunts me waiting for their next book. So, I don't even uh I can't even I can't even I can't even talk about it or else I'll start crying. Oh, speaking of Reena Kent or Vina Kent, um Hunt the Villain. What the [ __ ] is this series called? I really need like a Is this called the Villain series? It's got to be called the Villain series, right? Anyways, the first book is Kiss the Villain, which I did not like. These are all MM dark romance. Uh Hunt the Villain, one of my favorite MM romance books. This is one of her best books ever. Julen and Vaughn. I'm obsessed with them. So then then the next book comes out. Is it early next year? And I will absolutely be reading it. Absolutely be reading it.
Yes. Okay. Next we have Holding the Rains. What the [ __ ] is this series called? This is a cowboy romance series.
Interconnected standalones. I feel like I wrote it down. Silver Pines Ranch. I read the first three or four books.
There's two more books that I haven't read. This is such a fun spicy time.
Like so spicy fun. good if you're in a slump and you want something like that.
I have so much fun with this series, so I'm definitely going to continue. I just haven't been in the mood for it. So, then we have the Vancouver Agitator series by Megan Quinn. He's not my type.
I was obsessed with this is interconnected standalone hockey romance and it's also like romcom, which I didn't know, but like this was funny.
This was so good. He was so pathetic. It was so hot. I was so obsessed with this.
They're roommates. He's been like obsessed with her for over a year. I loved this [ __ ] book so much. I read this is like the fourth book. You can read them out of order. It doesn't matter. And then I read another one in this series and I just didn't like it.
Like I just did not like it at all. It made me cringe. So I'm not going to continue. I feel like the rest are going to be cringey. I heard that this is pretty much like the peak. But I'm still going to keep this cuz I love this book.
The Bourbon Boys, Bourbon and Lies. I read I read the first two books, Bourbon and Lies and Bourbon and Secrets. I read these when they were indie. I they've been traditionally published. This is small town romantic suspense, cowboy romance.
I was not suspended anywhere. The suspense was lacking. The insta lust was there. So boring. I felt the same way about the second one. So no, but I love the covers, so I'm keeping it. The Kamura Chronicles. Twisted Loyalties is book one. Obsessed with all of the books I have read. Twisted Loyalties. Twisted Emotions is one of my favorite mafia romance books ever. Nino Falcone is one of my favorite mafia men ever. Five stars. Twisted Pride, also five stars, obsessed with it. These all follow um a different couple and they're all within the same like mafia family. There's two more books left, two more brothers books left that I haven't read cuz I've heard mixed things about them. Some people say it's awful, some people say they're awful, some people say they love them. I think I just have to try one of them.
Like I'm still going to give it a try.
So I will read the next one, but I'm scared. I've heard a lot of mixed things, so we shall see. Another dark mafia romance that is so underrated.
This is the Godhood series. This book is Angelic Vengeance. I am obsessed with this series. I have read three books in the series. I think there's two more I haven't read and I'm absolutely continuing this. This is such an underrated mafia romance series. Like it actually pains me. Speaking of mafia romance, Sinners Anonymous, one of my all-time favorite mafia romance. Okay, first book is Sinners Anonymous and then Sinners Condemn. So, this follows one brother and his love interest. And then Sinners Condemned and Sinners Consumed follow Rafe and Penny. Peak mafia romance. Sinners at Tone follows Gabe and Ren and that's their first book and then they have one more book coming out and I believe that will be the end. Some people hated Sinners at Tone. I loved it. Was it my favorite in the series?
No. I gave it four stars, but I was I was obsessed with it. So, I will be continuing. I'm so excited for their next book whenever that comes. Who the [ __ ] knows? Boys of Abex. I don't even I don't even want to talk about this. Like Like I literally don't even want to talk about it. Say You Swear is one of my favorite contemporary romance books ever. Obsessed. This is interconnected standalone football romance. Literally this book will ruin your life. Like sobbing so hard. So [ __ ] good. Noah Riley. Everyone needs to meet Noah Riley, right? So like book two I have my I'm so excited for her. Book two. Awful.
Awful. Awful. So book three I'm like, you know what? Maybe book two was just a fluke. No. No. Book three was also awful. So, no, I'm not continuing.
There's one more book out. I'm not I'm done. I'm done. But I'm keeping this book because I'm obsessed with this book. King of Sins series by Anna Hang.
I'm holding up King of Gluttony, but the first book is King of Wrath, which is my favorite book in the series. This is, Listen, I do love this series. It is kind of hit or miss though. Like, King of Wrath and King of Greed are definitely the best. I gave King of Wrath five stars. King of Greed 4.5.
King of Pride I liked. I gave it like three and a half. And this is all interconnected standalone like billionaire romance. So fun, easy to binge. But then King of Sloth, I hated.
I gave it one star. It was so boring. It gave me nothing. King of Envy, a lot of people love. So I'm pretty sure this is just a me problem. I thought it was so boring. I gave it two stars. But then King of Gluttony, obsessed. Obsessed. I gave it four stars. So I will be reading There's one more book out. There's one more book to come and I will be reading that for sure. The Undone series by Payton Karin. The first book is unsteady. This is another interconnected standalone sports romance series that is one of my all-time favorites that I think is so underrated. The mental health rep in this series is so good.
Each book obsessed with like obsessed.
There's still one more book to come. I will be continuing this. Like the depth and just the connection these these couples have with each other and how deep the emotions are in such a short time period. Like nothing about it is surface level. And like if you want to feel a lot but also like feel good like this is this is that series. This isn't a series. This is a duogy. But I have to bring it up because this is literally one of my favorite books ever.
Nightshade by Autumn Woods. This is a dark gothic romance. The second book comes out pretty soon. I believe Alex Corbo Green is one of my new favorite book boyfriends. It is Gothic. It is academy. It is murder mystery. It will break you. It will rip your heart out.
These two have so much trauma and just like sad backstories and are battling so much and like kind of heal each other and she's supposed to hate him because his father was involved in her parents' death like and just them and him and the yearning in this the ending. I can't even talk about it. I don't even want to talk about it. I don't know why I have this in here because I think I just forgot to include it in my romanty because I don't know what you would classify this as probably as romanty because he's a vampire but it's not really is it paranormal? The poisoner. Anyway, obsessed with this. The second book's out. I haven't read it yet and I think there's going to be one more book. This is set in Victorian era London and she's a botonist who unalivives awful men. He Silus, oh my god, I'm obsessed with him.
He's a vampire and she is like set out to unalive him and he's obsessed with it. like he's just like a witty, flirty, insane, morally gray man and their banter is so good. The ending traumatized me though. I was going to give it four, five stars, but then the ending I gave a four, but I'm going to read book two. I need to. It's called The Arachnid. Magnolia Parks.
I actually like when I think about this too hard, I genuinely cry. Like it's like so these books flip back and forth.
Like the Magnolia Parks books follow Magnolia BJ and then the Daisy hates books follow Daisy Christian and Julian and the Magnolia Parks books. Like Magnolia BJ story is finished. Someone keeps [ __ ] texting me and like I'm I can't even explain to you how annoyed I am by it. Daisy Christian and Julian the Daisy Hates books. There's still going to be two more books, but she has no plans for writing them. And I don't I genuinely like Daisy Hates the Great Undoing is one of my favorite books of all time. I have it tattooed on my arm.
Daisy and Christian are like in my top three favorite fictional couples. The ending of Daisy Hates is the Great Undoing like haunts me like releasing tendas and I I genuinely don't think we're ever getting another book. I really don't think she's going to write it. Will I read it if it ever comes out?
Of course. No, like I'm literally going to cry. So, I need to shut the [ __ ] up.
Okay, so that's it for books that I have. Um, what other ones? I like made a list of other series I'm in the middle of. Okay, the Royal Elite series by Arena Kent.
dark romance. I read Cruel King and Deviant King, both of which I gave one star. I [ __ ] hated those books. I feel like I just can't read dark romance in a high school setting. It is so unbelievable and and embarrassing. Like, it gives me secondhand embarrassment.
Lights Out. There's two other books out.
Interconnected standalone dark romance.
No, I I am one of the few people who did not like Lights Out. It's like a dark romantic comedy. And the thing about me with like romcoms is I don't I hate explaining this because it I I don't because it's just something that is me.
Like it's just how my brain works. So I don't I I feel weird explaining it because I feel like like I don't understand all types of humor. Like certain types of jokes and like sarcasm can go way over my head. So when it's kind of like that sarcastic humor where it's like joking borderlining on joking and ser like I don't I didn't I don't know it's a joke. I don't know it's sarcasm. I can't and like bo so that's why body language like and when I'm in a social setting this is why I really struggle socially. But I'm really in tune with people's body language when they are speaking and like the inflection in their tone really helps me understand if they're joking about something or being sarcastic. Without that I have no idea. That's why I don't read romcom. Like I can't I don't I don't know that there's a joke. I don't know what's funny. So I just found it cringey and weird. Same with Bertcher and Blackbird, which is like a dark romcom. I felt the same way. It was the same way. So I'm not going to continue either of those. Playing for Keeps, a very popular interconnected standalone hockey romance series. No, I only read Consider Me and I hated it so much. I hated it. I got the X so bad. It was so long. It was so boring. The only one I might read is Breathe with Me. People love that. And everyone tells me to read that one, but I don't think I'm going to I don't know. Rebel Blue Ranch.
Jokes on me with this one. This is a cowboy romance interconnected standalone series. First book is done and dusted.
Hated it, but I was like, you know what?
I'll give it another try. Second book, hated, but then everyone's like, "No, Mariana, the third book is what you should have just read because it's single dad nanny and that's the best one." And I'm like, "Fine." And this is why I say the jokes's on me because I hated that one, too. So, no, I'm not reading anymore. literally like I'm an idiot and I should not have kept reading the Eden series. Absolutely not. I read Indigo Ridge and Juniper Hill and it's romantic suspense so boring. Gave me literally nothing. I don't think romantic suspense is for me to be honest. So the Queens and Monsters series, Dark Mafia romance, I read book one, Ruthless Creatures traumatized me so bad, so cringey, so ick. And everyone's like, "No, you've got to continue."
Like, book one's bad, but the rest are good.
No, cuz I read Carnal Urges and this man literally took her tampon out during Spicy Time. I want My trust issues like are through the roof. Absolutely not.
This one, the Vitali Brothers. This is Mm Mafia Romance. And the first book was good. I gave it like three and a half stars. It was fun. The second book I hated. And so I everyone loves it though, so I'm like maybe I'll continue.
Maybe. I'm not sure yet. I might. My Dark Romeo. I'm pretty sure this is like interconnected standalone billionaire. I hated My Dark Romeo. He called her shortbread and it was just he treated her like [ __ ] No.
Another Mafia series. Dark Hearts by Jagger Cole. Deviant Hearts. I gave like three stars. It was fine. second book was I don't even want to talk about it. So, honestly, no. With Mafia, as you'll see a pattern, like I'm not going to keep trying. If the first book's okay and it's like interconnected standalones, I'll try the second, but if the second's bad, it's just like I'm not going to like the rest. It's just like there's no chance. Like, it's just how it is. Sigma Sin, this is dark romance and my friend who loves the series but hated book one told me, "Hey," and it's interconnected standalones. She was like, "Hey, you're going to hate." And there's secret society, too. She's like, "You're going to hate book one, but like it's worth it for the rest." And I did hate book one, but I am going to continue. I'm going to give the others a shot. Then we have Crimson Ridge, which is a super spicy cowboy romance interconnected standalone series. The first book, Chasing the Wild, was an ovulation read.
Ex-boyfriend's Dad. Smalltown cowboy romance. So [ __ ] spicy. So spicy. I think I gave it three and a half stars, but like it was so hot. It was so hot.
She snowed in on a ranch with her ex-boyfriend's dad. Book two.
Don't even get me started. He's her like adopted uncle.
No, no, I don't even want to talk about that book. I hated it. But then the next one, or is it the next one? There's another book in the series that is an MM romance book and I kind of want to read it cuz I've heard good things about it.
So, I'm I'm probably going to read that one when I'm ovulating. Okay, I'm getting tired. I don't want to talk about any others. There's probably like a few, but like as you can see, I start and don't finish many series. And that's fine. I'm going to read now. I'm actually really looking forward to reading. Go be horizontal. Go have a sweet treat. Ignore the outside world cuz nothing else matters. Oh, I also wanted to say, was it last week's video or two weeks ago? I'm pretty sure it was two weeks ago. Thank you. I kind of had like an emotional mental breakdown and as I do sometimes with you guys and your support, like I don't respond to all of the comments, but I see them all and it means so much to me like more than you know. And I'm just so grateful for this community because you guys are literally like keep me going and I just love that I can like share with you and be vulnerable and like you guys can also share with me and I'm so appreciative of that. So that's all.
