My YouTube Paycheck Came In... Time To Budget With Me

[00:00:00]Okay, everybody. Google, they deposited my paycheck yesterday.

[00:00:05]Yes. So, we are going to head to the bank together. They're about to open up.

[00:00:08]We're going to get that cash. And I'm going to show you kind of like the process, I guess, that I do when I'm budgeting my money every single week.

[00:00:18]And I figured you guys would like to see what I'm doing, right? I don't know. I'm talking about the whole thing. So, let's go.

[00:02:16]Okay, I think we've got everything ready right here for me to show you guys what I've got going on. We've got the cash, right? You just saw me go through that.

[00:02:25]We've got my budgeting book here with all of my cash planning and everything else in there to show you my spending for the last couple weeks. We've got my saving and spending binders that we're going to put all the cash in. Yeah, I think we're ready. Let's get into this.

[00:02:47]Okay, how' you guys like watching that whole setup situation? I kind of figured you would like to see and I'm going to really bring you through what I did last night to get to this and get where we are right now. Right. Okay. So, let's look and see because the amount that I got from the bank is not the exact amount that is going into my binders today. The binders are getting $980.

[00:03:13]Okay, so let's get this set up.

[00:03:20]Okay, we've got that ready to go. Let's move that out of the way. And the rest of this money that's here, it's mostly ones if you if you really look at it.

[00:03:31]This is savings challenge money, you guys. This is going to be on Sunday and Tuesday, my other two videos. So, the money is all here. It's just going for different things, right? So, here is my budgeting book. And last night, let me move this out of the way for a minute. Last night, I sat on my couch and I started right here with my bills. And I went through these are the bills that have been paid so far.

[00:03:58]The one that was missing actually was the pool and he actually ch he sends us an email and I didn't see the email. I missed it.

[00:04:10]This is my way of checking myself and it works every time you guys. I ended up paying it very late. What is today? The 21st. I paid it. I missed his email because he changed the name of his pool company. So I think that I thought it was junk email. I don't know. I didn't see it. So, there's that. But, it's paid now, right? And I did notice it last week when I was doing my budgeting, but Jason wasn't around to ask and he's the one that deals with our pool guy. So, there's that. And you guys, every single month there is something that I catch on this monthly bill sheet. So, this month so far it was that. And last month it was also the pool company. Last month there was no email. He did he did forget. And maybe it had something to do with him changing his name, right? Maybe that's all tied together. And then this month back in March, that's when I noticed that my Wi-Fi had randomly gone up. And you guys, this goes on and on.

[00:05:12]So this is the first thing that I do. I look through my checking and I double check that my bills are being paid, that they're being paid on time, and that the amounts are what I think they should be.

[00:05:24]Right? That is very important and very overlooked I think by most people, isn't it? It is. I know it is. Okay. So, spending. This is the next thing that I start working on when I'm doing my budget. And the last time I was with you guys, okay, actually, I think I stopped right here. This was the last time I checked in with you. So, this spending and this spending has been done since I checked in last. Let's take a look at it, shall we? Let's see what we've got going on here. What did Jen and Jason spend their money on these past couple weeks? Here we've got a giveaway that I mailed. This is two sister bees TV trays for the house. I got some new tank tops as you saw this one. I love it.

[00:06:09]Absolutely love the color. I got for $40. You know, it wasn't just this one.

[00:06:13]I think I ended up buying like five of them. I can't remember, but I got quite a few colors. Love them. Okay, we got groceries, Utrid. More clothing, and I'm buying clothing, just so you know. I'm not normally somebody who would buy a bunch of clothes. In fact, I never buy clothes. I'm buying them because I'm going to be going to Pennsylvania for my oldest daughter's wedding. And I just wanted to have a few new things, right?

[00:06:37]Everybody wants new stuff when they're going on a trip. Even me, even Jen.

[00:06:42]Okay, so here we've got Jason went to see his mom on Mother's Day and he grabbed a few things. Here's a skirt that I bought. Um, we got some stuff for Utrid. We got a pet cam and a thermometer for the house. I have this internal fear that our air conditioner is going to stop working randomly when I'm not home. And I I had to get it. I couldn't do it anymore. So, I got the pet cam and I got the thermometer. So, now I'll know what he's doing and what the temperature is in my house while I'm gone. I know. I'm crazy. I can't help it. Anyway, uh, Two Sister Beast stuff.

[00:07:15]More groceries. This little line here, in case you're wondering, this is when we got another paycheck. So, all of this came from one paycheck. And then what we're going to talk about next, and this came from Jason's last paycheck, the one that we just received. Okay. So, anyway, we've got groceries. We've got stuff from Etsy. Okay. Here, this is something I'm going to be talking to you guys about. We'll come back to that. This is more stuff for Utrid. Utrid was a very expensive little boy these past couple of weeks. And you guys will see that when we get into doing the binders. Oh my goodness. Okay, so we got more groceries. Utrid again. I also I'm going to go get myself a lash lift, you guys, for the wedding. I figured I really don't want extensions. I'm kind of over that. Plus, that's just a lot of upkeep and I don't know. I don't want to go through the whole like shedding process of the eyelashes. So, I think a lash lift would be nice. I'm I'm looking forward to that. Okay, we got more for Utrid. And here, this is Jason's phone.

[00:08:18]I just bought it yesterday and I haven't taken the money yet or done anything.

[00:08:22]So, I will be doing that with you guys in today's video. Now, down here, if you notice, I wrote myself a note so that I don't forget. Walmart $4212.

[00:08:32]And that is right here. And do you see the word refund? Refund. Where is my refund? So, this is what happened. Okay, I feel like I'm talking really, really fast. And I hope that I'm not. So, here's what happened with Walmart, and this happened just yesterday, and I was like, "This is a great thing to show them." This literally happened while I was doing the budget, okay? I saw that $4212, and I thought to myself, what did I buy on Walmart.com? I couldn't even remember. So, of course, I go to the app and I look and what it was was this.

[00:09:07]This I am obsessed with this juice. It is so freaking good. It is so refreshing and it's good for you. I am not doing an ad. I swear to God, I just love this juice. So anyway, apparently I'm not the only one that loves that juice. It is sold out all the time. I go to Publix, it's gone. I go to Walmart, it's gone.

[00:09:27]So anyway, I went to Walmart, they didn't have it, right? So I thought to myself, maybe they have it in the back room and they haven't stocked it yet.

[00:09:36]Right? So, I go online and I do an order where I go pick it up. And it let me order 12 of them. So, I'm like, "Yay, they have it." And they just didn't have it out on the shelves. Well, no, they didn't have it. They canceled the order about 30 minutes later and said, "We don't have it." So, it also said, "We're going to refund you your money." Well, they didn't. And that was quite a while ago. So, I called Walmart.com first and they said, "No, we we refunded you." The payment went through PayPal. So, I called them next and they also said, "We refunded you." Then I called Wells Fargo. They don't see it, but I wasn't surprised, right? So, I just ended up saying to the lady from Wells Fargo, which was my last phone call, it's okay.

[00:10:23]I will just put a note in my calendar to check back next week. If I don't see the refund by next week, I'll give a call back again. So, we leave it at that. I hang up. I put a note in my calendar to check a week from yesterday. And out of nowhere, cuz again, I'm doing my budget, so I'm I have my Wells Fargo app up on my phone and I'm working on it. What do you think randomly appeared in my checking account? The refund. There it was. It was just like a Christmas miracle. It suddenly appeared. I think personally that one of those three people, Wells Fargo, PayPal, or Walmart, somebody clicked a button and made that refund go through. That's what I think.

[00:11:03]I could be wrong. It could be a big coincidence. I don't know. But either way, I got to cross that off my list. I got to take it out of my calendar because I know that I've got my $42 refund. So, we're going to mark this off so I know that I got that refund right here.

[00:11:22]that has been refunded. And another thing that I just noticed this morning that was refunded is, if you notice, I circle things that should be refunded and I put a star. This was refunded.

[00:11:39]Yes. I love getting money back, right?

[00:11:43]Okay. So, where was I with this? I think that was it. Yeah, we talked about all of this. Okay, so that's my spending for the last couple weeks. But anyway, yeah, this keeps me on budget. And you might be wondering how how does this keep you on budget? Because I am using, just so you guys know, I'm using my debit card for all of these purchases. All of this came out of my checking account. I didn't use cash, right? So, let me show you what goes on with that. Okay, if you look right here, these right here, that's all of my categories that are right here. All of these, most of them anyway, if you notice, happy mail, two sister bees, household, clothing, groceries, utrid, gifts, right? All of those are here. And the next thing that I did was I get these. I get my two binders out.

[00:12:42]One is for syncing funds and this one is for spending. Okay.

[00:12:51]So, let me show you. Let's take this out. Not that.

[00:12:56]Not the spending. Well, yeah. Let's take this out. Let's take this and let's take this. I hope you guys like these on the-fly videos. I am just winging this one because I thought to myself, you know what? You're just telling them your process, right? Just tell them what you're doing. Okay. So, the next thing I did was we'll put that to the side for a minute. I started right up here at the top and I went to the happy mail envelope. Okay, because that's what this is. This is for shipping. And right here, May 6th. May 6th, $5.72.

[00:13:35]I took $6. I rounded it up to six and I took the $6 out of this envelope. Okay, moving down to the TV trays for the household. We're going to go to the household envelope. It is right here.

[00:13:55]TV trays, $44. Again, I rounded up 4343 and took out 44.

[00:14:05]And then once I do that, I write which envelope I took it from and I put a check mark. That way I know I took that money out. The money has been taken. And then obviously I also mark it on the budget sheet in each envelope. And I did that all the way down. Okay. Except for the phone. We're going to do that one together. And then once I'm done doing all of that, at that point I would consider the the envelopes. They're like squared up, right? They are where they should be. And here's the thing. Here's why this works. Let's use Let's use Utrid. He's a really good example. Okay.

[00:14:44]After one, two, he had two things that I purchased for him. And once I do this and I put it here and I take the cash, at that point I know if I am over my budget or if I'm staying within my budget or I'm getting close to being over my budget, right? Like I know at that point because I wrote down, sorry, I wrote down what I spent and I subtracted it. And then I know, well, you still got money for Utrid. You're still doing okay, right? I hope that makes sense. And again, none of this is ever going to be perfect. It it never is, but you guys, it's it's pretty freaking close, right? I mean, I feel like it is. I keep myself to where I know where my money is, where it is going. It's an amazing feeling and it's worth this extra effort. Yes, this is effort. Obviously, I sat on the couch yesterday for probably cuz this was two weeks worth, by the way. So, I'm going to say I sat on the couch for about an hour, but I have my hot tea next to me.

[00:15:49]Utret is sitting in front of me. I've got my TV on. I'm checking my phone. I'm doing all kind of stuff in the meantime, too. So, I kind of try to make it like a relaxing thing to do so it's not such like a bad thing, right? So, anyway, yeah, that's what I did. And I think that's it. Then I go to here, my cash planning, and I write down what I need to put in each envelope for this week, right? And this is the money that you just saw me go to the bank and get. And now we've got it right here. And we're going to add it to these envelopes. And I'll do a little chitchat here and there with the categories to let you know what's going on and where I'm at with each one. But I just really thought that you guys might like seeing the process that gets us to these cash stuffing videos, right? Okay. So, let's get started with the cash stuffing part. And really quick, YouTube's total this past pay was 1 83.37.

[00:16:59]That is such an amazing side income. And as you can see, it is going to help me fund all of the things in my spending binder, all of these things in my scing funds and my savings challenges this week. You guys, I am so humbled by the support that I get from all of you, everybody watching the channel and leaving your comments and it's amazing. I never in a million years thought that I would be doing this and I absolutely love every minute of it. Okay, so let's get my cash planning. It's going to be right here and we're going to start with groceries.

[00:17:38]$150 gets the same amount every week.

[00:17:45]most of the time. Not I shouldn't say every week, but most of the time. And I did have $45 left over, you guys. That's amazing.

[00:17:58]That is amazing. So, I have $1.95. I'm not going to count it. We can add, right? And I do this off camera, but obviously after I'm done filming, I will go in here and I will add the deposit plus 150. And I have that taken care of and tracked. Right.

[00:18:18]Okay. Next up is household getting $30.

[00:18:24]And it is now up to 20 40 60 81 20 30 40 50 55 56.

[00:18:33]And again on my budget sheet for household I'm going to add so I know exactly how much I have in my envelope. And I just wanted to tell you guys that this has become a very good system for me over the years.

[00:18:50]It started off as me trying to save money, right, and get out of debt. And I did that using this system. I continue to use this system because now it is keeping me on budget. And I don't necessarily have to come into each of these envelopes and take the cash out in order to make a purchase, but I still do the cash method to keep me in my limits, living within my means. And I hope that makes sense to you guys that are new. If you're new, you probably you might not have your thousand dollar emergency fund and you probably don't have the buffer in your checking account to be able to do it exactly the way I'm doing it. But you will, believe me. Keep doing the cash method. Keep limiting yourself with cash. Use the cash that's in your envelopes, and you're eventually going to get to this point where you can use your debit card online, in person, whatever. And you're never going to be so worried that you're going to bounce something or you're going to forget something because you do have your $1,000 emergency fund in there sitting, right? Hopefully, you will be getting yourself out of debt in the meantime.

[00:20:04]That's typically the whole point of starting the cash method is that people want to get themselves out of debt. So anyway, all that to say, I'm probably using the cash method maybe a little bit differently than you are if you're new, but this in my mind would be something for you to look forward to, right? To use the cash method more in a way where it's keeping you within budget and keeping you accountable as opposed to being like this lifeline to keep you from drowning, right? Because that's exactly what it was when I first started it. 50 70 90 210 230 250 260 in the kids emergency fund. This was a lifeline that I grabbed with both hands, believe me.

[00:20:51]And it did get me completely out of debt. Got us completely out of debt, my husband and myself. And it has retrained our brains with money. I can't express that enough to you. So anyway, okay. I am talking fast in this video, aren't I? I know I am. I I feel like I'm talking 100 miles an hour. Okay. Anyway, Utrid is getting $40 today. And this is his spending envelope. Utrid has two envelopes. One in this binder and one in the next binder. 20 40 60 81 20 40 50.

[00:21:27]And as you saw earlier, I did buy some anxiety medication for him that isn't his normal, right? So, I took it out of this envelope and I also took that camera and that house thermometer, that Wi-Fi thermometer out of his envelope.

[00:21:41]Toiletries is getting 25 today. 25 and it now has 20 40 60 81 20 40 60 75 67 177. But yes, you guys, the cash method, I will be on YouTube as long as I can breathe and talk telling people to give this a try. The reconnection that you end up getting with your paycheck and your money, it is unmatched by any other method of saving money. That is my opinion and I will die on that hill.

[00:22:20]Okay, miscellaneous has 20 40 60 81 20 40 50 65 67 8 168 and I will die on that hill because I've tried all the other methods and guess what? None of them ever worked. They never worked. Maybe they worked for a little while sometimes, but hey, here I am four and a half years later still doing this. And again, I don't have to. I'm to the point where I don't have to do this anymore. I want to do it because I like it. It keeps me on track. I know I'm not going to fail. I can't You can't fail this. It I say all the time, cash is final, right? You can't mess this up. So, if you're new and this is the first video of mine that you've clicked on, I swear I'm usually not this intense. I'm in a mood today, maybe. I don't know.

[00:23:38]Yeah. Anyway, I'm going to take a few breaths, right? Right. I feel like I got pretty amped up on that uh explanation of the cash method, but yes, I am very passionate about the cash method. I mean, how could you not be, right? When something has actually worked for you and gotten you completely out of consumer debt, how could you not be passionate about it and want to share it with other people?

[00:24:07]Cuz I most certainly am. No doubt about it. Even right here, right, this clothing envelope I mentioned earlier in the video, my daughter's wedding coming up. I'm paying for everything associated with that wedding in cash. Not one bit of it has gone on a card. Not nothing, and nothing will. I've got my clothes that I'm going to be wearing. I've got the hotel. I've got airline tickets for me and my daughter. I've got food money ready to go. I've got it all. You entertainment money, every single bit of it has been paid in cash. And that is new for me, you know. I mean, I went so long being in debt a long, long time, you guys. So, anyway, 100, 200, 300, 20, 40, 60, 80, 380. I have this little store that is near me. It is in downtown Stewart and they have the cutest clothes in there. And I actually forgot about that store because I haven't been there in so long because, as I said, I don't typically buy clothes and I don't. But I remembered it because it came up on I think my Facebook feed and I was like, "Oh my god, I forgot all about that store." So, not going to lie, I'm a little excited to go in there and I think I'm going to take you guys with me. I think I'm going to take you guys with me and show you the cute outfits in there and maybe we can try stuff on together. We'll see. Okay, so Walmart now has 50 70 90 110 130 50 70 Wait, what did I say? 50 70 90 110 130 150 170 190. Okay. And I kind of wanted to build this one up. This is a new envelope. I wanted to build it up before I actually started using it. And I think now with a little under $200, I I'm going to start using that envelope when I go to Walmart.

[00:25:54]Let's get into this. and Winona gets I don't know if you've noticed but I keep grabbing for the money but I'm trying to grab the cash first so that I can do it this way. I feel like this is easier to get the money situated to count for you. 100 150 170 180 85 86 87 88. So, this must be coming due because I put $17 a week in here for a $200 quarterly payment. So, sounds like I'm getting pretty close to that $200 quarterly payment coming up. Care is getting 30.

[00:26:39]And don't go anywhere because we are going to take Jason's phone money out together. I'm going to show you what I'm going to do there because I don't have the full amount for the phone that you saw. I don't have the full amount. So, what am I going to do? You're going to see. Care is up to 100. 20 40 60 82 20 40 60 83 20 40 55 355. That's very nice. Building this back up after I took money. I took quite a bit. I took $500 for my taxes. Yeah, that's a whole other video if you want to watch it. I'll link it there. Next up is Utrid. Okay. And this one is his scing funds. And little buddy, if you remember on my spending sheets that I showed you, he cost me quite a bit uh yesterday. Actually, as you can see, he was up to $1,047.

[00:27:40]I got him some anxiety shoes that were 17. Then I got him some more of those anxiety shoes because they worked so well. That took him down to 959. And then I went ahead and got him his Apoquil and his Serica and that was $414. So our little buddy has spent half of his money and he is down to 5.45.

[00:28:26]How do you know how much to put in each of these? Some of them are just whatever you can, right? Like birthdays. That's not a bill. That's something. It's um like a decision, right? Like if if you have it, great. If you don't, you don't have to buy gifts, right? So, this one doesn't have a set amount every every payday. I put in what I can when I can on birthdays. 20 30 40 50 60.

[00:28:55]But something like this one, my daughter's wedding. I actually did the math on this one. There is real math involved on this envelope, okay? because they get and this is a very specific amount, right?

[00:29:16]And this envelope is up to 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1,000 1,100 1200 1250 70 80 85 86 87 88 1288 and I already know just off the top of my head 800 close to 900 of this is for the hotel and I already paid for the airline tickets doing cash stuffing. So, yeah, this is a good envelope. I'm very happy that I did this. Vehicle tags.

[00:29:50]That's once a month. So, we don't have to worry about that. Okay. Phone. Jason needed a new phone. And I've mentioned this on the channel before, and we were kind of winging it and hoping and like crossing our fingers and praying for the best with that phone. But he showed it to me uh not yesterday, but the day before. And it has had it. Okay. And I don't want something bad to happen while he is at work and he doesn't have a phone. So, it is time for Jason to get his phone.

[00:30:19]So, I got on eBay and I got him his refurbished phone. And that was, as you see here, $43,120.

[00:30:31]Okay. So, let's see how much I have saved up so far in my phone. I have 20 40 60 81. I don't even think I need that calculator. I don't know what I'm doing. 20 40 60 81 20 40 60 82 20 40 60 Okay, maybe I do. 260 + 50 10 20 30 40 4550.

[00:31:00]Okay, I have 360. That's good. Very good start. Very good start. So, we're going to subtract the $431 that we spent and I need $71. So, where am I going to get that $70 from? You might ask. Well, I'm going to take this out because I'm going to need to start a new one. I'm going to take it from here. My emergency fund.

[00:31:21]Yep. And I know you guys hate doing this, don't you? Guys get really upset when you got to take money out of that emergency fund. I don't know why.

[00:31:29]Because that's what it's there for, right? That's why we have it. So that we can take from it when we need it. So, I'm going to take $70.

[00:31:42]And of course, I knew I was going to do this. So, I'm going to take this so I can put that back in my checking account. And we have Jason's phone money. And let's see. 460 minus the 70, we now have 390 in the emergency fund. Okay. So, let's put this back.

[00:32:10]And I've been keeping track of that envelope on this sheet. So, you guessed it, we got a new one. And we're going to go ahead and mark off. Each of these is worth 10. So, we're going to mark off 39.

[00:32:26]And guess what we're going to do next week? We're going to just keep it moving, right? We're going to add back to our emergency fund. No big deal.

[00:32:37]Thank you, emergency envelope, for doing your job. Vehicle insurance gets 75 every week.

[00:32:48]And this is coming up due.

[00:32:51]So, let's add this in. 50 75.

[00:32:58]And this is prop money. That money is already in the bank. That's 600 plus 1 2 3 4 5 6 20 40 60 81 20 40 60 82 25.

[00:33:18]And this is coming up due in June next month. And I will have it. You better believe it. I will have the full amount because I have been putting away $75 every week in that envelope before I can spend it on something I don't need. That is what cash stuffing does. Medical one, two, three, four, five, 50.

[00:33:50]Mint Mobile, we're not doing that one right now. We don't need to. It's paid up. entertainment is getting 25. This is for my trip to my daughter's wedding.

[00:34:02]And I don't know what kind of entertainment I'm going to be doing. Who knows? I don't even think I'll be spending all of this, but we'll see. 100 200 20 40 60 83 20 40 50 65 365. No, I'm not going to be spending anywhere near that. But it's nice to know that the option is there, right? Absolutely.

[00:34:52]And I'm going to be honest and telling you, I have no idea what I did with this $51.

[00:34:58]I'm going to have to figure it out, though. Oh goodness, you guys. I already looked on here. I don't see what I did.
